Nick Villiers, who co-wrote the 1997 Jack Nicholson starrer Blood and Wine (1997) with Bob Rafelson, is suing Working Title films, claiming that the company stole his idea for its hit film Notting Hill (1999). The suit, which seeks $15 million, charges that Eric Fellner, his onetime friend who now runs Working Title, used "concepts" that Villiers suggested while the two of them were involved in adapting the novel Cheek into a screenplay. A spokesman for Fellner denied Villiers' claim, insisting that Notting Hill (1999) was entirely written by screenwriter Richard Curtis. »

Michael Caine will receive yet another movie industry award - but this time it's his charisma rather than his acting that's getting the seal of approval. Sir Michael will be honoured with the Donostia Award at the 48th San Sebastian Film Festival in Madrid, Spain, for being "one of the most charismatic figures in international cinema". Caine, who received a best actor award from San Sebastian in 1996 for Blood and Wine (1997), will be on hand for the screening of Shiner (2000), in which he stars. »
