Lusty retro-horror act Calabrese continues to gain momentum in 2009.  With the cult success of their albums Thirteen Halloweens and The Traveling Vampire Show (see our review here) and a new video for their single “Vampires Don’t Exist”, the band shows no signs of gearing back on the throttle.   Having already been a featured at Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors and with regular coverage on Fangoria Musick, it only seemed supernatural that the blood-drinking brothers get a feature interview.  

Currently the band is getting ready to lock themselves away in their tomb to record new material for their next release. I, however, had the chance to catch up with vocalist Bobby Calabrese and guitarist Jimmy Calabrese to answer a few questions about the band.  Their take on horror and vampirism, and what makes up their successful “all in the family” act.

One-eyed Monster, just out on DVD from Liberation Entertainment, is a horror/comedy (with an emphasis on the comedy) set in the mountain wilderness of Mammoth Lakes, CA, where a porn shoot is taking place with adult-film legends Ron (“The Hedgehog”) Jeremy and Veronica Hart (playing themselves) plus a group of younger cast and crew. During the filming of one sequence, Jeremy can’t get his johnson to respond, and so he steps outside for some fresh air—where he’s possessed by an alien that appears as a flash of light in the sky.

When the director (Jeff Denton) subsequently asks Jeremy if his tallywhacker is now up to the task, the actor replies in the affirmative. Jumping back into the scene (and onto Hart), Jeremy puts his bratwurst to the test. All seems well…until he starts to convulse and Hart starts to scream. Cut is quickly called »

Adult film actors Ron Jeremy and Veronica Hart have teamed up with mainstream actress Amber Benson to conjure up One-Eyed Monster, a comedy homage to classic horror films such as Alien and The Thing. The story is the cast and crew of an adult film become stranded in a blizzard, and things go horribly awry after Ron Jeremy's crotch becomes possessed by an aggressive alien entity. Ron Jeremy's rabid member goes on a bloody killing spree, intent on spreading its seed through the entire planet.

Films with killer dicks can be surprisingly entertaining. Yes, I just said that. It's true! Go watch Killer Condom. It's good! Surprisingly good! Whether or not Killer Condom is a fluke in the killer dick sub-genre remains to be seen; One-Eyed Monster could outdo it!
