Remember Alejandro Amenábar? He's the guy who directed "Tesis," "The Others" and "Mar Adentro," among others, and his next project is "Agora," due in theaters Dec. 18, 2009.
IMDb describes the film as follows: A historical drama set in Roman Egypt, concerning a slave who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia of Alexandria.
Cineblog recently posted two first pictures from the film, both showing Rachel Weisz as Hypatia. You can check out one above and the other one after the jump.
Also starring are Max Minghella, Oscar Isaac and Rupert Evans. »

Variety reports that Spanish genre veteran Alejandro Amenábar (pictured) is one of the producers on El Mal Ajeno (The Evil Of Others), a new psychological thriller with fantasy overtones. Amenábar’s Himenoptero company is teaming with Mod Producciones and Telecinco Cinema on the project.
To be directed by Oskar Santos Gómez from a script by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo, El Mal Ajeno focuses on a doctor who is accused of driving one of his patients to suicide, and becomes a victim of a shooting himself. The leads are Eduardo Noriega, who starred in the Amenábar-directed Open Your Eyes and Thesis as well as The Devil’S Backbone and Nadie Conoce A Nadie, and The Orphanage’s Belén Rueda. We’ll bring you more details as we find ’em out. »

The trailer to Transsiberian has debuted over on Yahoo's site. While not exactly in the "horror" genre, there's a number of reasons I'm reporting on it. Firstly, it's the latest from director Brad Anderson, the filmmaker behind Session 9, The MacHinist (Great, great movie), the Masters Of Horror episode Sounds Like and an upcoming episode of Fear Itself. So, since he's one of the few director's out there doing radically different things on each project, I'll see anything he does.
Secondly, the stellar cast. Woody Harrelson (National Born Killers) , Emily Mortimer, Kate Mara, Eduardo Noriega (who's in 2 of my favorite foreign films Thesis and Open Your Eyes) and Ben Kingsley.
Lastly, the movie looks really good! See for yourself and check out the trailer Here!
