Mechanical, Pretentious, and Silly, 1 June 2003
Author: alexduffy2000 (alexduffy2000@yahoo.com) from Hollywood, USA

I really wanted to like "A Time To Kill," it has big time actors like Matthew McConaughey, the beautiful Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, and the great Kevin Spacey. However, this cliche-ridden film falls apart with it's silly script and mechanical dialogue. The skills of the actors cannot defeat the pretentious, unrealistic storyline that's just too phony to describe. It's not that the details of the crime that sets events in motion aren't heartwrenching, or that the set-up doesn't make a good moral dilemma for a film. It's just how it's done, by the half-way point in the movie I didn't believe in the characters, they seemed so cardboard and lifeless. 3 out of 10.
