The character Dirk played in his first movie was "John", a reference to real-life porn legend John Holmes, upon whom Dirk's character was based. Dirk mentioned that he had just came back from the Marines, and Holmes actually served some time in the army.

Goofs:

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: "At least one time during the scene at Rahad's house, Cosmo tosses a firecracker and the explosion is visible in the background but no sound is made." In fact, you can hear the fizz of a dud.

Another Academy snub!

This is not so much of a review as it is a testament that it has been proven, yet again, that the Academy rewards money, not artistic accomplishment. And I must say I am saddened that this usually artistic and intelligent band of imbd members have left this off the top 250. Boogie Nights is powerful, raw, and gutsy through script, direction and acting. Very few movies can claim this triple crown.
