Hasselbeck, 31, served as the official emcee at a luncheon for Cindy McCain just hours before John McCain's big speech. Hasselbeck also showed off vintage-style "McCain '08" T-shirts she designed herself, and spent time on the floor of the convention taping a segment that will air on Monday, Sept. 8, onThe View. Meet the season 12 cast of The View. Look familiar? Well, that's because it is. Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar will all be back to co-host the ABC daytime show when it returns Sept. 2 after a summer hiatus. But, for the first time, the five ladies have been photographed together. (Remember, Shepherd was a late addition to season 11 – and was never part of any of the show's early photos.) The photo shoot took place in New York – and the cohosts had plenty to do in between frames. The women danced to Tina Turner's hit

Whoopi Goldberg has sent pal Morgan Freeman a message of support after he was hurt in a car crash on Sunday night.
The actor has since undergone surgery on his left arm and hand, and was said to be "doing well" in a statement released by his publicist on Tuesday.
And Goldberg - who welcomed Freeman on U.S. chat show The View, which she co-hosts, just last month to promote his new movie The Dark Knight - is wishing him a speedy recovery.
The comedienne appeared in her own guest slot on Good Morning America on Tuesday, when she sent her well-wishes to Freeman.
Addressing him directly, she said: "Morgan, you just don't even sweat it. You get better, we're thinking of you... we're waiting for you baby."

Alec Baldwin, of whom you may have heard and heard and heard - especially when he's talking about co-parenting the daughter Ireland he had with ex-wife Kim Basinger - you're about to hear from some more. You maybe know he's written a book about his eternal forever unending never-to-be-over fight with his divorced missus. As steamy and passionate as their early days, that's how steamy and anguished are their last years. Anyway, St. Martin's publishes this Sept. 23.
Alec, never one to compromise, insisted on the lousy title "Promise to Ourselves: A Journey Through Fatherhood and Divorce.

The View co-host Sherri Shepherd is not "flippant" about abortion, she said Wednesday while addressing some controversial comments she gave to a magazine on the subject recently. Shepherd, 41, told the Christian magazine Precious Times that she had undergone "more abortions than I can count" during her twenties. But the article, Shepherd said, did not tell the whole story. "The full quote was I suffer from a lot of shame and guilt, and I didn't know how to forgive myself," said Shepherd, clarifying her comments in the current cover story. In the publication, geared toward churchgoing black women, she credited her

Barbara Walters must miss the days of Star Jones and Rosie O'Donnell. The latest embarrassment on "The View," Sherri Shepherd, who once said she thinks the world is flat, tells Christian magazine Precious Times about her past: "I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count." The psychic didn't see it coming.
The put-down by Barbara Walters, I mean.
Yes, folks, another day, another blood feud brewing on "The View."
The brouhaha began two weeks ago when medium James Van Praagh, the brains behind "The Ghost Whisperer," appeared on "The View" to promote his new book and to do some contact work for the audience.
He says he couldn't have been more pleased with the audience reading, which included a message from one woman's fiancé who had died six weeks earlier.

AFTRA has ratified the primetime contract, but SAG’s assault had great effect. The margin – the percent of yes votes – was only 62.4%. The percentage of no votes was 37.6%. Turnout was not released.
In contrast, the margin on the somewhat similar daytime pact (the AFTRA Network Code), ratified April 30, was 93%. In other words, SAG drove the margin down by 30 points – well over what I (I had predicted 20 points) and other expected when SAG’s anti-aftra campaign began.
Thus, although the deal passed, this has to be counted as a partial victory for SAG. A strike authorization vote still seems unlikely, because a 75% yes vote is required for passage and the fact that the AFTRA deal passed makes a successful strike authorization vote questionable. Nonetheless, SAG will be emboldened by the low yes vote achieved by AFTRA, and is likely to resist compromise with the AMPTP for some time to come, absent

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong enjoyed a meal with the actress' mum Goldie Hawn, further fuelling rumours they are an item.
The rumoured couple was spotted eating a late lunch with Hudson's Hollywood veteran mother Hawn at the Ivy restaurant in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday.
They were snapped laughing and joking as they dined outside on the restaurant's patio area, according to People.com.
Hudson and Armstrong have been romantically linked since they were spotted kissing and cuddling during a party at the Cannes International Film Festival in France in May.
But they have refused to speak publicly about their romance.
When athlete Armstrong was put on the spot on U.S. chat show The View, he declined to answer the four female hosts' inquiries as to his single status.
Armstrong explained, "Number one, I know you have to ask that question. And it's my right not to answer it. Number two, I think when you're happy about something or proud about something, I think it's natural in human nature to talk about it.
"But I'm not going to answer it. Next question."
Hudson also appeared on the show last month, giggling coyly when posed the same question before responding, "Ask him."

"I don't really know about wedding bells … I still love him, and I'm still with him, so that's a good sign." As for her sister Ashlee, who's pregnant, Simpson said, "She sent me a picture of her belly. She's popping, it's so cute!

Did you wake up on Saturday morning, bloated with ego, voice still scratchy from screaming "Fat ass!" at regular intervals the night before, your Beyoncé wig still sitting dull and discarded on the desk where you spent most of the night self googling your name and the phrase "emmy winner," hoping that the resulting ego massage would eventually lull you to sleep? No? Well, then you're probably not Tyra Banks (Look in the mirror and check for eye-smiles just to make sure.) On Friday night, while most of America was off not seeing The Love Guru, Tyra Banks, Rachael Ray, that woman from The View, and various nameless, mannequin-faced soap stars were being whisked through the K-Mart style lounge like the daytime stars that they are for the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards. It was a night no one will ever forget, mostly because they didn't watch it...

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong will face even more questions about their rumoured romance at the upcoming Espy Awards - both have signed on as presenters.
The rumoured couple will both hand out prizes at the 20 July sports awards, which will be hosted by golf and basketball enthusiast Justin Timberlake.
David Beckham, Zac Efron, Kristen Bell and Luke Wilson are also among the early presenters confirmed.
Hudson and Armstrong have both resisted answering questions about the state of their relationship in recent weeks.
Cyclist Armstrong appeared on U.S. magazine show The View last week (ends20Jun08) and politely avoided giving an answer, stating, "I know you have to ask that question. And it's
my right not to answer it... I think when you're happy about something or proud about something, I think it's natural in human nature to talk about it. But I'm not going to answer it. Next question."
Hudson deferred to Armstrong when she was asked the same question on the same show a week before.
