Fight Club (1999) More at IMDbPro »

The content of this page was created directly by users and has not been screened or verified by IMDb staff.
Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

There is a highly stylized sex scene in which we see several almost still frames of various positions. The woman's breasts are seen briefly as well as the man's buttocks.

In a few scenes, a couple can be heard having sex rather aggressively. A man looks at the couple through an opening in a door and sees a brief, blurred sex scene; the man who was having sex opens the door, and it's implied that he's naked save for a yellow kitchen glove, but only to a couple of inches below the navel are shown.

There are two very brief flashes of a semi-erect penis. There are also frames of a woman kissing another woman's breast.

A woman grips a man's groin area, in a close up we see her hand on his clothed crotch.

A man's buttocks appear a couple of times on billboards.

A woman has a penis-shaped dildo on top of a chest of drawers.

Violence & Gore

We see the inside of a burned out car following an accident. People examining the car make comments about fat melted into the seats, braces in the ashtray and such.

There is an airplane crash sequence showing the inside of the plane.

One man scars another's hand by a chemical burn. We later see similar scars on several people's hands.

There are several scenes involving fights, often with bloody results, usually showing faces covered with blood. People's heads are punched and bashed into the ground in close up. One especially brutal fight shows one man beating another so severely even the other fight club members are shocked by the damage; his nose is badly broken, his eye swollen shut, and teeth are knocked out.

In addition to the club fights, there are other fights, sometimes including repeated kicks.

The bruising and bleeding from the fights are evident for days.

One character receives stitches on the far side of his head (so that we cannot see the stitching).

One man threatens another with a gun, hitting him with the barrel on the back of his head.

Several men threaten another man with castration, and it appears for a moment that they have followed through.

There is a car crash sequence in which the car rolls over an embankment. There is no blood.

A man is shot in the head. His body is later placed on a table. His eyes are wide open, and blood and brain matter spill out from the back of his head.

A second man is threatened with castration followed by threats with a gun.

There is a long, surreal fight sequence traveling all over a parking garage.

A character is shown in slow motion shooting himself in the mouth with a gun. He and another character have severe head damage from gunshot wounds.

There are multiple sequences involving vandalism and destruction of property. Some of them include impressive explosions.

Profanity

83 uses of the f-word, mostly as an expletive. The s-word is used ten times. Sex and anatomy are talked about in vulgar terms. There is also religious profanity.

Two characters chain-smoke, while another is seen smoking on screen a couple times. A couple of characters and extras drink. One character is drunk in a couple of scenes. One character tries to commit suicide with Xanax.
