Michel Hafner (28 December 1999):
This DVD edition of Deep Blue Sea (1999) by Warner Brothers is of good quality.
The film master used is clean and images are steady. Contrast and color rendition are very good. Sharpness is good as well, but could be better. So could the noise and grain level that is higher than on the best DVDs, but still good and never annoying. I haven't seen distracting video artifacts. Edges are slightly over enhanced. Nothing distracting from the compression front, either.
This is a very nice DVD that provides film-like images and will look good on any kind of display which can handle dark scenes well. It's not top quality material but good enough to provide a thrilling underwater ride with impressive imagery and sounds. If you liked the movie, you'll hardly be disappointed by this DVD.
