Phillip Fry is a 25-year-old pizza delivery boy whose life is going nowhere. When he accidentally freezes himself on December 31, 1999, he wakes up 1,000 years in the future and has a chance to make a fresh start. Did You Know?
As the opening credits cut to the final shot, just before the Planet Express Ship crashes, several characters are seen moving through one of the transport tubes. The very first guy to go through is reading a news paper, the headline reads, "Moon pie fight in Mars Bar." See more
In Season 4 Episode 12 "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" Fry mentions the Star Trek films attracts negative attention because the show was banned long before then, and apparently saying the show's name is forbidden. In Season 3 Episode 8 "That's Lobstertainment!" at an Oscar awards ceremony a featured film is titled "Star Trek: The Pepsi Generation" and no mention of Star Trek being forbidden is made. See more

During the opening, old 1930's cartoons are played on a giant monitor and are different each time. In the episode "Roswell That Ends Well", the cartoon featured in the opening was played in the episode on a small TV. Also when the title appears, a new message appears every time. See more
