"Sex Wish" is a truly sadistic and sick porno horror that is very hard to watch.The plot deals with a drug-sniffing homosexual killer(Zebedy Colt,a true sicko of 70's hard core who can really act)who kills all the acquaintances of the helpless Ken(Harry Reems)for reasons which will not be made clear till the end of the film.The first victim on his slate is Ken's fiancée Faye.Wearing a stocking over his head,he forces himself into her apartment,ties her up with leather harnesses and rapes her graphically with a vibrator,all the while talking like a little child who has done something naughty.After masturbating on her,Colt then slits her throat with a rapier he has concealed in a cane.Ken returns to the apartment and to his horror finds Faye dead body.Ken remembers bumping into someone in the hallway and vows to hunt this man down and kill him."Sex Wish" is a nasty and mean porno horror.The torture scenes are pretty graphic and Zebedy Colt is hauntingly believable as a sadistic killer.The gore effects are amateurish,but the film is well-acted and dirty.Not for the squeamish.8 out of 10.

Director / star Zebedy Colt had to be one of the most deranged porn directors of the 70's. His three most memorable films (Sex Wish, The Devil inside her, and Terri's Sweet revenge) all also featured his pervy ingenue Terri Hall, and over the top mixtures of violence, sex, and drama. A potent mix! Harry Reems is great in the lead role as a blissful husband who's wife is raped and killed by a freak with a pantyhose on his head (Zebedy Colt) who has been doing the same to other innocent women and couples throughout New York. The attacks are twisted and not for the faint of heart, as Colt alternates between gleefully tittering as he pretends to be a 6 year old boy, and then becomes "Mommy" and starts screaming "You taught my boy dirty tricks! I'll teach you!!" Fans of Cannibal Holocaust will be interested to note that that films star Robert Kerman shows up in a supporting role as cop hunting for the twisted psycho. Robert is in a non-sex role in this xxx outing, but he wasn't a stranger to porn showing up in many porn films under the name Richard Bolla. I would love to know what mossy, slime-coated rock Mr. Colt crawled under after his tenure in 70's triple x, because the industry hasn't seen many like him since. And perhaps, we should count our blessings for that...!

This all to obscure 1974 X-rated thriller offers by far one one Harry Reems finest performances. Originally screened in US theatres in and around the New York area (where the film was shot), under the title The Night Walker, it was soon retitled Sex Wish, in order to cash in on the nasty Charles Bronson rape film, Death Wish.

After his girlfriend is savagely raped and murdered (with a sword no less), distraught boyfriend Harry Reems goes on a daunting quest to find the killer (Zeedy Colt) and bring him to justice... Meanwhile, a detective (future sex film star Richard Bolla in an early role) is also on the hunt, that is until another girl is killed.

Sex Wish is not the most technically proficient film ever made, for in places the camera-work is a bit shoddy, as is some of the acting from the supporting players. Nevertheless, the movie holds ones interest from beginning to end, and that is sadly rare in the world of hardcore cinema. Although it has been (undeservedly) scrutinized for its graphic depictions of rape and murder, one must not overlook the fact that neither rape nor murder are condoned or sanctioned by any of the characters, nor are these things looked at as a normal part of sex. In fact, those looking for a pyre turn-on film need look elsewhere, for this film is just as un-erotic as a film can get. On the other hand, if one is trying to find a good combination of graphic sex, violence and story, this one is a sure bet.

What a disappointment. After all I'd heard about it, I expected SEX WISH to be amongst the most depraved and sickest XXX-roughies out there. Sad thing is, SEX WISH had the potential to be just that - unfortunately, it's so goddamn slow and dull, that it's damn-near impossible to stay awake for the few notable scenes involving Zebedy Colt abusing various women (and one unfortunate man...).

Harry Reems' girlfriend is murdered by a baby-talking rapist/psychopath (Colt), and Harry decides to go out vigilante-style and seek revenge. As bodies start stacking up around the city, Reems begins to realize that the killer is targeting victims that he is acquainted with. We do eventually find out why the killer has set his sights on Reems' friends, but the answer is cliché and unsatisfying, and doesn't really make any sense as there's no backstory given to support it...

Both Reems and especially Colt (in yet another twisted role) give decent performances in SEX WISH, and the production values appear to be a little higher than the typical $100 basement roughie. Too bad that even with a few notable qualities, SEX WISH is still unable to transcend being a very mediocre film. Far too much time is spent watching Reems "grieve" for his girlfriend by banging everyone in sight, and not nearly enough time is devoted to Colt's role as the Jack-the-Ripper-ish rapist/killer. Genre fans will be pleased to see Robert Kerman (of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST and several porn-films fame) in a non-sex role as the detective in charge of the murder investigation. Overall, I found SEX WISH to be a highly over-rated piece of horror/porn cinema, and can't really recommend it other than to serious Colt or Reems fans, or genre completists. Not a horrible film, but really nothing noteworthy either. For similar material, stick to FORCED ENTRY or UNWILLING LOVERS instead...5/10

Truly depraved, sadistic, and misoginistic porno feature that mixes an extreme amount of violence and gore enough to be considered as Porno--Horror.

The movie starts with a steamy and arousing sex scene taking place in a bathtub; later followed by the highlight of the movie that deals with a sadistic sex twisted killer who rapes, humiliates and brutally murders a sexy woman. This woman's boyfriend later finds her corpse and swears he will apply a cruel revenge on the murderer who happens to be an ill mental sex repressed maniac with serious issues (he acts like a boy).

Later, this man delivers weird scenes involving voyeurism and even murders a black couple after they give an erotic show for him; he even castrates the black man. Ouch! The plot is really interesting and demonstrates that the vigilante-Talion Law formula will always work and makes the viewer hate the villain to the point of imagining the worst revenge for him.

The fact that it was filmed in such a cheap and dark way increases the disturbing factor making it look like an amateur or even snuff effort.

Recommended for fans of porn and violence. One of my favorites.

A few years back I found this to be unwatchable but viewing it again and seeing it not so much as a porno but as a 'roughie' and this time able to appreciate the sleazy streetscape backcloth, this doesn't seem so bad. It is over ambitious but is surprisingly convincing at times, even if it is still difficult to watch, here and there. Zebedy Colt is disturbing and his baby like gibbering as he coerces people to f*** does not endear one to him. It has to be said though that when he is chased out of a subway, instead of roaring off down the street he pauses to grab a sexy looking girl and take her into some storage area shrieking, 'It's all your fault', we fear we are witness to something horribly believable. Harry Reems does well in the central role, C J Laing gives a spirited performance, the black couple do well and Zebedy Colt……

SEX WISH was actually released (minus ten minutes of more, ahem, 'extreme' footage) here in the UK back in the early days of the video boom, and caused a tabloid storm in a teacup when it allegedly inspired a copycat murder case. Strangely enough, the papers brushed this ultra-disturbing flick under the carpet in their headlong rush to get the comparatively innocuous likes of FROZEN SCREAM and NIGHT OF THE DEMON canned, and the film has been all but forgotten as a result. I jumped at the chance to watch it on a DVD-RW and spent most of the film's duration with my jaw on the floor. It's not so much politically incorrect as utterly demented, a triple-X take on Michael Winner's DEATH WISH (did the title kind of give the game away as far as inspiration was concerned?) with hardcore sex and some truly nasty violence thrown into an already bubbling brew of seventies sleaze. If you don't consider yourself to be squeamish, this may force you to think again. By the time SEX WISH is over, you'll want to scrub your eyeballs clean with disinfectant and take a long hot shower to purge yourself. If any film truly deserves the "it's only a movie, only a movie, only a movie" tag-line, it's this one.

Highlights (or lowlights) - a rapist using a vibrator on a victim as he masturbates over her, Harry Reems's scene-stealing moustache, the helpless young black couple who are forced to screw in front the sword cane killer (they'd have won Oscars for their entirely credible performances if the Academy had gone mad) before the man is castrated for his troubles, and some jarringly slick direction that threatens to lift the proceedings above their obvious grind-house origins. Don't say I didn't warn you. If you thought the world was a more innocent place thirty years ago, SEX WISH will prove you very, very wrong.

After Harry Reems' teenage girlfriend is raped by Zebbedy Colt (The Night-Walker), Reems becomes despondent and consoles himself by having sex with some lesbians. Meanwhile, Colt, who carries a cane and dresses like a magician, rapes some more women. Eventually, Reems decides to track him down and end his crime spree. Despite being shot on film and marginally nasty, it looks like any other 70's porno and is ineptly executed. The rape/abuse scenes are surprisingly restrained and the attempt to cash in on "Death Wish" is laughable. R. Bolla ("Cannibal Holocaust") plays a cop. Colt, who is usually over-the-top, wigs out in a couple of scenes, but he's too well behaved for my money. This roughie could have been much rougher.
