We've listed down our top 50 hottest young actors and would be coming up with the latest updates very soon. Yesterday, we discussed about actors we believed to be quite underrated. How about the young actors we consider overrated? That's what this article is for...

Who qualifies as overrated? Guys who seem to be getting lots of buzz, but has no real talent at all, or perhaps just a small amount of it. I have no issue if an actor gets the cover of GQ or Details or L'Uomo Vogue every month. They can even strut their stuff on the catwalks of Milan and Paris and gain additional media mileage. But to be considered the hottest actor on the planet with nothing to show yet? That is something totally absurd.
Anyway, here's our list of ten just after the jump!

A few weeks ago sound designer Richard Beggs mentioned that Sofia Coppola's significant other, Thomas Mars, will be contributing original music to her upcoming film, "Somewhere," to be released in 2010. This continues Coppola's track record of tapping leading edge pop/rock musicians to provide the original music for her films, rather than traditional film score composers. On "The Virgin Suicides" she collaborated with the French downtempo electronic band, Air. On "Lost in Translation" it was Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine who provided the original music. Brian Reitzell is usually her go-to music supervisor, although it's not clear yet whether... »

Admit it: if you were talented and lucky enough to make Olympic history by winning a gold medal on your final dive by scoring the highest point total in Olympic diving history, you’d do something amazing to celebrate the first anniversary of that moment. You certainly wouldn’t neglect to commemorate the event and further, actually forget the date you did it entirely.
That is unless you are twenty-one year old Aussie Matthew Mitcham.
In fact, when I point out I’m interviewing him almost exactly a year to the day since he single-handedly stopped a Chinese diving sweep at the Beijing Olympics, and ask him what he did to celebrate the anniversary of his achievement, Mitcham laughs and says, “It didn't even occur to me that [this] was the same date. In fact, I can't even remember what day I won it on. I only just flew in from Rome, »

'We're using some of the cooler Shakespeare language, in a musical way,' explains 'Twilight' director.

Los Angeles — Record-setting filmmaker Catherine Hardwicke made headlines when she revealed that two "Twilight" stars had auditioned to step into the world of William Shakespeare for her next project. Now, the director and her lead actor are talking about the newest personality to be blended into the cast: Kurt Cobain?
"It's a modern-day film, set at a liberal-arts college where words matter — so people are careful and talk in beautiful language, and Hamlet tries to express himself through music," Hardwicke explained recently, saying that her soon-to-shoot "Hamlet" reinterpretation will continue the filmmaker's love affair with music (remember those "Lords of Dogtown" and "Twilight" soundtracks?) by combining the spirit of the legendary Nirvana frontman with the Bard. "So, we're »

These are the days to be a nerd. No longer is the geek shunned. He is celebrated! Comic book movies like “The Dark Knight” are considered high art, fantasy like “Harry Potter” and “Twilight” rule the hearts of millions and the sci-fi goodness of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” is the toast of 2009. Yes, it is a good time to be a, as they say in Latin, dorkus malorkus.
Hollywood hasn’t been very kind to one corner of the nerd world however. Video game adaptations do not have a history of quality, thanks to early ‘90s monstrosities like “Street Fighter” and “Super Mario Bros.” Then there's Uwe Boll, who has single-handedly made this sub-genre a wasteland of bad special effects, sub-porn-level dialogue and cruelty to great actors. What did Ben Kingsley do to deserve being in “Bloodrayne”?
The future is bright though! The announcement that Sam Raimi (“Spider-man”, “Evil Dead »

Virginity! It's a topic that Hollywood and cinema love to pursue. Writers and directors love to push boundaries and create remarkable, sometimes real, sometimes ridiculous situations concerned with what happens when someone does (or doesn't) give up their 'most precious gift' (i.e., having sex for the first time). While films concerned with boys' sexuality tend to err on the side of raunchy comedies - Losin' It, Risky Business, American Pie - movies concerned with the virginity of young women run an interesting gamut. We chose a grab bag of films for this week, concerned with virginity and its relationship to power, religion, and madness. The Miracle of Morgan's Creek, Splendor in the Grass, Elizabeth, The Virgin Suicides, and The Magdalene Sisters would all pair nicely with Deborah Kampmeier's Virgin (2003), starring Elisabeth Moss (who is currently best-known as Peggy Olson on Mad Men). And it must be noted, we're leaving out horror films, »

The novel Middlesex, by Jeffery Eugenides (who also wrote The Virgin Suicides), was my first literary encounter with the concept that gender identity is a bit more complicated than what parts are in your pants.
Well, not exactly the first, since it explores some of the same themes as The Well of Loneliness. But Middlesex was more contemporary — and, for me at least, a more readable story.
In the novel, the narrator tells the story of being born with a recessive gene that resulted in being male, chromosome-wise, but without a penis (I’m way oversimplifying). The protagonist was misidentified and raised as a female, Calliope/Callie, but later — after an accident — learned his true gender identity and became Cal.
Part of the trick of the novel, from a writer’s perspective, was getting the voice right. The perspective of a narrator that was raised as a girl but was »

Welcome to The Motion/Captured Must-See Project. Been a while. I got busy running the blog, I guess. The reason for an ongoing column like this is to hit the "reset" button while you're writing on deadline about what's happening, part of a sort of a dull roar of entertainment sites all writing about the same thing. It's nice to pick something, a film you really love and respect and think is worth sharing with people, and write about that. Just refocus, then do whatever else you have to do that day to stay afloat. That's doubly true of a film as... »

Focus Features joined Sofia Coppola to make Lost in Translation, and now they’ll do it again with Somewhere. But she’s decided on Stephen Dorff instead of someone like Bill Murray … I just don’t see it.
Here’s the press release.
New York, April 16, 2009 – Reuniting with the film company with which she made the Academy Award-winning hit Lost in Translation, writer/director Sofia Coppola will make her next movie, Somewhere, with Focus Features. Somewhere will star Stephen Dorff (soon to be seen in Public Enemies) and Elle Fanning (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button). Focus CEO James Schamus made the announcement today.
Ms. Coppola is also reteamed with Pathé, which will have rights to the film in France, Benelux, and Switzerland; and Tohokushinsa, which will hold rights to the film in Japan and select Asian territories. Medusa Film will have rights to Somewhere in Italy, where a portion »

Sofia Coppola is gearing up for her fourth feature directorial outing. The young filmmaker, whose credits include The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation, will direct Somewhere, a dramedy set at the iconic Chateau Marmont in Hollywood that she also wrote. The story centers on a bad-boy actor stumbling through a life of excess at the Chateau Marmont. With an unexpected visit from his 11-year-old daughter, he is forced to reexamine his life. Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning have signed on to star. The filmmaker, who said she has been looking to make "an intimate story set in contemporary Los Angeles," received permission to shoot at the hotel, which has become notorious in recent years as a popular address for tabloid-friendly celebs. Coppola is producing with brother Roman Coppola (The Darjeeling Limited) and G. Mac Brown (Australia) through American Zoetrope. Father Francis Ford Coppola, Fred Roos and Paul Rassam are executive producing. »

Scott Feinberg at The Envelope has created a list of his "The top 25 movies of the past 10 years that got no Oscar love" and it's an interesting idea considering there has been so much hatred aimed at the Academy over The Dark Knight not getting a Best Picture nomination, but it did actually receive eight nominations, which is nothing to scoff at. We are talking about films that didn't receive any nominations, zero, zilch, nada. Any come to mind? I had never considered the idea since it is a relatively hard thing to imagine that a favorite film of yours didn't receive any Oscar nominations -- wait, is that why general audiences aren't interested in the Oscars? -- but then I went back over my 2003-2008 Top Ten lists and found several that weren't nominated and put together a quick top ten and an example category I think they should have been nominated in. »

They were spotted at a Manhattan sushi restaurant last Thursday.
Page Six reports: "They were whispering and smiling at each other. At times it looked like she wanted to grab his hand, but stopped. She was especially smitten with him." »
