HBO’s ‘The Pacific’ Trailer

HBO is bringing us The Pacific, a WWII story of what went down in the Pacific while the men from Band of Brothers were fighting in Europe.
The series is based on the memoirs of Eugene Sledge and Robert Leckie, both of whom were Marines that served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. It was produced by (you guessed it) Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks (both of whom produced BoB) and Gary Goetzman (producer of Charlie Wilson’s War).
Joseph Mazzello and James Badge Dale have tackled the roles of Sledge and Leckie, respectively. John Seda rounds out the lead parts playing Sergeant John Basilone. Mazzello played the little boy in Jurassic Park (!) all those years ago, Dale popped up in The Departed and The Black Donnellys and Seda’s a former boxer who appeared in Twelve Monkeys and more recently, Bad Boys II.

It’s a little less good when the news comes out that your potential Oldboy adaptation with Steven Spielberg is dead and the entire Internet cheers. Latino Review reports the joyous news that Steven Spielberg and Will Smith’s planned adaptation of the Japanese manga Oldboy, which was turned into the intensely-loved 2003 film of the same name, will not be happening. Mandate Pictures and DreamWorks pictures were to secure the rights together, they didn’t see eye-to-eye, walked away, and that breeze you felt was every film lover breathing a sigh of relief. »

Here’s the first official trailer for the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures’ movie “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” which is based on Ubisoft’s popular video game.
In the film, Jake Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a young Prince who teams with an exotic princess named Tamina (Gemma Arterton) on a mission to stop “a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.”
Ben Kingsley will play the villain Nizam, who plots to kill his brother King Shahrman and blame it on Prince Dastan so he can take the throne.

World War Z Screenwriter to Adapt Shattered Union for [sic] Disney

What can't Jerry Bruckheimer do? The producer behind such film classics as Bad Boys 2 and Kangaroo Jack is producing an adaptation of 2K Games' strategy war game Shattered Union, Variety reports. To give Brucks some credit, he has hired World War Z writer J. Michael Straczynski to adapt the game into a screenplay.
The big mystery is how Straczynski and Brucks are going to make Shattered Union for Disney, especially since the game was about secession of the United States that occurs after a nuclear explosion destroys Washington D.C. Maybe they'll animate it!
We also hope that Straczynski is given a chance to write a screenplay that gets made, unlike his World War Z experience. Despite huge praise, especially from author Max Brooks, Matthew Michael Carnahan was brought in to re-write the script.
Now, please add zombies to your script, Mr. Straczynski.

According to a report from Variety.com, writers Sean O’Keefe and Will Staples of Jerry Bruckheimer Films will be working on a live-action adaptation of Lorenzo Carcaterra’s novel “Apaches.” Focusing on the story of a group of former NYPD officers who form a renegade unit to take down the most truly vicious criminals in the city, the project has been in development since 1997. Marshall Todd (”Bad Boys II”), John Fusco (”The Forbidden Kingdom”) and David Klass (”Walking Tall”) have all previously worked on attempted adaptations of the novel. Apparently power producer Jerry Bruckheimer has been attempting to adapt Lorenzo Carcaterra's novel Apaches since 1997 when Disney beat out Paramount Pictures and Warner Brothers in a huge bidding war for the property. While writers like Marshall Todd (Bad Boys II), David Klass (Walking Tall) and many more have given it a shot, it sounds like no one cracked it. Now Bruckheimer is letting another writing duo take a stab at it as Variety reports Sean O'Keefe and Will Staples will try to adapt the gritty crime story about a group of retired renegade cops who take it upon themselves to deliver justice in New York City. Jerry Bruckheimer has been developing a movie version of the novel Apaches since he acquired the rights to the novel in 1997, but the mega-producer isn't one to give up easy, and has just hired two new screenwriters to have a new crack at the script. I don’t think anyone is clamoring for an “Independence Day 2″ especially since it would be strange if the aliens, now using iMacs running Os X and thus totally immune to viruses*, decided to come back and attack again on the same damn day. Maybe they could attack on a different holiday. Labor Day? President’s Day? Martin Luther King Day? Columbia Pictures will be developing a third chapter in the Bad Boys saga. Screenwriter Peter Craig is already working on a script. While still in the early stages, Columbia is hoping that the story will entice director Micheal Bay to helm the feature and land Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
At the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, Will Smith expressed interest in a third entry in the action-tastic series. “We need Bad Boys 3, ” he said. “I was just watching Bad Boys 2 with my son and I told him you can’t open a movie better. That’s the best movie opening ever!”
A classic case of a split between mainstream audiences and critics (the Bay Effect), 1995’s Bad Boys made an impressive $141 million worldwide despite mostly negative reviews. Bad Boys II arrived in 2003 and made a staggering $273 million worldwide despite, again, poor reviews.

Columbia Pictures has hired actress Sally Field's son, Peter Craig, to write the screenplay for a third installment of Bad Boys, the franchise that turned Will Smith into an action star. Columbia hopes to reunite producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Michael Bay, and lead actors Smith and Martin Lawrence, but no deals have been signed as of yet.
At first glance, Craig seems an unlikely candidate to write Bad Boys III considering that he hasn't written anything that's made it to a theatrical release as of yet. However, three screenplays he has written or contributed to are currently in production — Southbound, Cartel, andThe Town — and he's rumored to be writing the screenplay for the live-action Cowboy Bebop adaptation starring Keanu Reeves.

We just discovered that it seems our speculations were right a couple of months ago. If you remember, we placed a story stating that we heard Hollywood execs were trying their best to bring back Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for a third installment of the Bad Boys films action franchise.
Well, it seems that we were right, and that Hollywood has taken the first step towards that goal. We have just learned that Columbia Pictures have commissioned writer Peter Craig to begin work on a new screenplay for Bad Boys 3.
We have to state that although the film project is still in its early stages, Columbia Pictures hope to entice Smith and Lawrence back to the series as Miami, Florida police detectives, bringing Transformers director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer back on board, all of which was confirmed by Hollywood Reporter this morning..

Hollywood producers want to reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence for a third installment of the Bad Boys action franchise.
Movie executives at Columbia Pictures have commissioned writer Peter Craig to begin work on a new screenplay for Bad Boys 3.
Although the project is still in its early stages, film bosses hope to entice Smith and Lawrence back to the series as Miami, Florida police detectives, bringing Transformers director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer back on board, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The original Bad Boys release hit cinemas in 1995, grossing a conservative $141 million (£94 million) worldwide, while Bad Boys 2, the sequel released eight years later, was a global box office smash, taking profits of $273 million (£182 million). »
