• Continuity: After Memphis injures Eleanor in the alley by breaking off the passenger side mirror, and the engine stalls, Memphis attempts to turn the ignition with a key. But he did not have a key when boosting her.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Detective Castlebeck at one point refers to a "1967 Shelby Mustang". This is a Mustang that was customized by Carroll Shelby under contract to Ford, a fairly rare production model. Some have misheard this as "Chevy Mustang".

• Continuity: When Memphis and Sway are in a stolen car together, Sway puts on red lipstick "matching" with the car's color. A few scenes later her lips are natural colored again.
  
  
• Continuity: When Donny steals the silver Jaguar saloon (XJR) Otto is seen crossing out "Jaguar XJ220" on the blackboard, which is the name of Jaguar's supercar, and not stolen until towards the end by Sway.
  
  
• Factual errors: When the thieves are quizzing each other over the walkie talkies they assert that Jim Rockford drove a '73 Firebird on "The Rockford Files" (1974). In fact Rockford drove a series of tan Firebirds on that show annually updating from a '74 model through a '78, but never a '73.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Clearly visible on the list a number of times is a Porsche 959. While a few were held up in customs for a number of years, in 1997, DOT policy was amended to allow them to clear customs.

• Crew or equipment visible: When Memphis delivers Eleanor to Calitri, Calitri punches him in the face. As he falls to the ground, the actor's orange tape marks can be seen on the ground.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Memphis lands the car from his long jump on the bridge, upon close inspection you can tell that it is a stunt man landing the car.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The 2:1 cable pulling the cop car is visible out the back of the cop car during the "big chase" when the cop car gets hit by the bus.
  
  
• Continuity: In the chase scene where Randall first notices the truckbed ramp, it is approximately 2 feet off the ground at the end. The scene changes for only a second, and when you next see the bed, it is prepped for Randall's jump. In the earlier scene, the bed was either dead stopped or moving very slow, and could not have made it to the ground during the scene gap.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Detective Castlebeck is talking about the '83 Cadillac Eldorado and says that it was the "first year they put Automatic Ride Control on these boys." In fact, an automatic, self-leveling suspension was used on Eldorados as early as 1967, an if you count the limited edition Eldorado Brougham, an advanced automatic air suspension was used ten years before that, in 1957. However, Castlebeck is probably less of an expert, and nobody's going to correct him.
  
  
• Miscellaneous: The Italian version consistently translates "ultraviolet" as "infrared".
  
  
• Factual errors: On the blackboard listing the cars that are to be stolen, one of them is a '69 Dodge Superbird. There is no such thing. In 1969, Dodge made a NASCAR homologation special called the Charger Daytona. Plymouth made an almost identical car called the Superbird in 1970.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: During the "car quiz" the license plate on the Ferrari on "Magnum, P.I." (1980) is correctly given as ROBIN1. The Audi that Higgins drove was ROBIN2.
  
  
• Continuity: In the scene right before the foot chase with Johnnie D., Kip and Memphis are in the minivan (note the headrest). Then as soon as they are run off the road they are in a beat up old Chevelle.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: The Shelby GT 500 Mustang can be heard down-shifting, yet both of Memphis's hands can be seen on the steering wheel.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: In the final scenes, Memphis is trying to start a Ford/Shelby Cobra, but the noise the starter makes is that of a Chrysler.
  
  
• Continuity: As Freb is driving the '83 Cadillac Eldorado into Otto's, the paint appears to be a dull burgundy color, totally lacking luster from 17 years of fading. Even Otto tells Castlebeck that it needs "brightening." However, right after Castlebeck revs up the car and says, "Yeah, she got some power goin' on," scoffs, and then says, "All right," and gets out of the car, the trim around the windshield appears to be a very shiny, almost candy-apple red color.
  
  
• Continuity: The '99 Infiniti Q45 (Rachel) disappears from the blackboard list. The Jaguar XJ 220 takes its place, the Jaguar XK8 takes the XJ 220's place, and a Lamborghini Diablo that wasn't on the list takes the XK8's place, above the Lamborghini LM SUV. Later, the list is restored. A Hummer also appears and disappears on the list. Also The " marks disappear and reappear under Ferrari. And Megan the GMC Yukon is not on the list when Stacy is marked off.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When first shown, the name of the Porsche Boxster on the blackboard is misspelled "Boxter". Later, it's spelled correctly; presumably, someone noticed the error in the hastily written list.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The tow truck's side mirror is turned so that it would be reflecting the driver right back him when he closes the door.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When the chase enters the wrecking area you can clearly see the two ramps that Memphis jumps with Eleanor, just avoiding the big dump truck, which police later crash into.
  
  
• Continuity: When Castlebeck and Drycoff enter the warehouse looking for the shopping list of cars, they are carrying black lights. As Castlebeck is looking, there is no wires visible powering the black light, but when he finds the list there is a power cord running into his sleeve.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: At the end of the movie, Sphinx refers to the "sacrifice" Toby made, but does not explicitly refer to him getting killed. Being shot certainly qualifies as a sacrifice.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: Lighting equipment can be seen in the reflections of the various cars approximately 26 times.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: After the big jump on the Vincent Thomas Bridge, the on-board camera is visible in the rear window when Eleanor lands.
  
  
• Continuity: When the chase enters the flood-drains a keychain can be seen in the ignition. Memphis didn't use any keys to start the engine.
  
  
• Continuity: The only two Jaguars on the list are the XJ220 and the XK8 Coupe. Donny steals an XJ8 saloon. Also, at this point, the XJ220 is crossed off the list, even though it is not stolen until later in the film, by Sway.
  
  
• Continuity: The passenger-side mirror that got broken on Eleanor was round. At the end of the movie we see the mirror on the driver's side is rectangular.
  
  
• Factual errors: Car No. 2, Barbara, is listed as a 1962 Aston Martin DB1. Aston Martin didn't make the DB1 in 1962. The "DB1", as it became known in retrospect after the DB2 was introduced, was built in 1948, the first year that Aston Martin under the new ownership of David Brown (initials DB) produced cars. In addition, fewer than 20 models were ever sold of the DB1 which would make it an extremely rare find. In 1962 Aston Martin produced the DB4 Series.
  
  
• Continuity: When Memphis goes to the garage to try to convince Sway to join his crew, the wrenches keep moving between shots.
  
  
• Continuity: Kip burns the breakfast. When he is going to put it on the table it is of a yellow (potato) color, when it is put in front of Randal on the table it is almost black.
  
  
• Continuity: Car number 34 on the list is a Mercedes Benz S600 (the only S class on the list). As the cars are being driven out of the police impound, the silver car in front is actually an S500 model (as shown on the rear).
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When they start the boost it shows the crew starting five cars but when the names are read off, there are only four names.
  
  
• Factual errors: Many of the cars that they boost without a key, such as the Lambo, have electronic fuel pumps that close and will not operate without the signal from the electronic key, it's not possible to start these cars without the specific key.
  
  
• Continuity: When kip is stealing the Porsche at the beginning of the movie, he trows a brick into the glass doors. The stone shatters both doors. In the next shot, we see him walking in and the left door (right side of the screen) is unbroken.
  
  
• Continuity: The door that Kip actually shatters is the left one only, you'll see the brick striking on the center of the left door. The door knob on the right one is still there when the glass comes down.
  
  
• Continuity: When Kip is handcuffed to the steering wheel of the firebird in the car crusher, you will notice that the hatchback window shatters twice.
  
  
• Factual errors: At the beginning of the movie, the police dispatcher tracks the stolen Porsche going southbound on the Vincent Thomas Bridge. The Vincent Thomas Bridge goes from east to west.
  
  
• Continuity: When Memphis first enters the construction zone with the "Shelby" he passes a front end loader full of tires. In the next scene a cop lands in the bucket of tires, which breaks his fall. There are no tires seen anywhere else on the docks.
  
  
• Continuity: After Memphis breaks of the passenger side mirror on Eleanor, the mirror hangs by the door. After driving off when he sees the police car, you can see that the mirror is firmly attached and aligned with the driver side mirror. In the subsequent chase through the pier, the mirror is shown to be hanging in close up shots, but attached in some of those farther away.
  
  
• Continuity: When they are driving the XJR out of the garage, the driver’s window can clearly be seen as being 3/4 up, but when the guy pulls the gun to steal the car the window is completely down.
  
  
• Factual errors: When they are stealing the XJR, Donny, after breaking into car, leans over to unlock the door with his finger. However, the locks in this model open simultaneously once breached and even if in this case they didn't, the locks on the doors are flush with the door panel and cannot be opened by hand without opening the door using the handle.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Memphis confronts Calitri after being rescued by Kip and Atley, he chases him into his office, where Calitri retrieves a gun from his desk drawer. The gun appears to be a compact 9mm, or .380 semi-auto. You can hear the sound of the slide being racked to load the first round, but Calitri pulls the gun out, and fires in one motion. He never racks the slide.
  
  
• Factual errors: In the car list there's a "Ferrari 550 Marinello". The real name of that car is "Ferrari 550 Maranello", as Maranello is the little town in Italy where Ferraris are built.
  
  
• Continuity: When Kip falls into the dog kennel, Memphis uses his jacket as bait to distract the bigger dog. Memphis is wearing it again when he shuts the garage door, then he's not when they go to the café.
  
  
• Continuity: Directly before the chase in Elanor, when the camera is zoomed in on Memphis, Dectective Castlebeck and Dt. Drycoff's black BMW is seen pulling into view for a few seconds. When the camera cuts back to a less zoomed view, the car is seen pulling into view again.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: Towards the end of the film, there is a skyline shot of L.A. with the subtitle "Time Left Until Deadline 00:59:59" followed by a shot of the two detectives getting into their car, headed toward Long Beach. It is also later discovered that in Long Beach, they are at 4th Street and Main. The first problem is that even with an hour, no car can travel from North Los Angeles to Long Beach in an hour, and start pursuit, chasing someone all the way to the docks. Number two, it is assumed by the shot of the hospital that 30 minutes has passed, giving an even shorter time frame for the two police officers to begin pursuit.
  
  
• Errors in geography: The setting is supposed to be Long Beach California. However right after Memphis breaks the side view mirror off as he is backing up a police car is shown with the zipcode 36574 which is for Seminole, Alabama.
  
  
• Continuity: In the scene where Memphis and his brother get ambushed in their car, they switch between the Caravan they were driving earlier in the scene and an older beat up rust bucket. Most interior shots of the actors are in the Caravan.
  
  
• Continuity: After Memphis and Kip get chased into the truck stop and Kip goes out to rig the tow trucks tow to the pursuer's car. He rigs it onto the rear cross-member but when the truck pulls away it pulls it from the front.
  
  
• Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Freb steals the Cadillac Eldorado, he is berated for stealing a car not on the list. Although a Cadillac Eldorado is seen on the list of cars, it is a much older model to the one stolen by Freb, therefore that specific car is not on the list.
  
  
• Factual errors: During the scene when Atley is talking to Randall Raines at his gas station the American Flag is hung the wrong way. Established etiquette for displaying the United States flag when hung vertically is to have the blue union on the uppermost left. The blue union appears on the upper right.
  
  
• Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the start of the film, when Freb, Mirror Man and Kip are looking for a Porsche on the corner of Wiltern and Whetherly with little success, Freb states "Tumbler messed up". According to Kip later in the film, Toby is the computer genius that finds the cars, not Tumbler (who is a wheel-man).
