The 20 Coolest Movie Cars of the Aughties

17 December 2009 10:16 AM, PST | Vanity Fair | See recent Vanity Fair news »

Demi Moore exits a Ferrari Enzo in 2003's Charlie's Angels II: Full Throttle. The Aughties (ugh) were an incredible decade for film—if you like superheroes and comic books, romances based on 19th Century fiction, the apocalypse, brah-com, or fragmented narratives of disparate people crashing into each other.  Personally, I hate most of this shit. But if you’re into the kind of stellar goodbad films that I admire, and you happen to like cars, you’re in luck, because what we have here is a gorgeous slide show of the best vehicles in the bestworst movies of the 2000s. Brett Berk writes Stick Shift, Vf.com's gay car blog. Visit him at brettberk.com 2000 Bring it On, Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The decade got kicked off right with this genius cheerleading movie, a proto-Glee that features a rag-tag bunch of losers united in a love of choreography and personal harmony. …

“Season Of The Witch” Poster

11 December 2009 10:17 AM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

The first poster for the supernatural thriller “Season of the Witch” has been released.

Nicolas Cage works again with “Gone in Sixty Seconds” director Dominic Sena. Screenplay was written by Bragi F. Schut.

Cage stars as a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade (Ron Perlman) to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. A beleaguered church, deeming sorcery the culprit of the plague, commands the two knights to transport an accused witch (Claire Foy) to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.

A priest (Stephen Campbell Moore), a grieving knight (Ulrich Thomsen), an itinerant swindler (Stephen Graham) and a headstrong youth who can only dream of becoming a knight (Robert Sheehan) join a mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl.

The movie is scheduled to be released on on March 19, 2010.

The Sorcerer’S Apprentice Trailer - Updated

9 December 2009 1:27 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first trailer for Walt Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has been released.  This is the Jon Turteltaub directed (National Treasure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets) adventure/comedy starring Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, Teresa Palmer, and Monica Bellucci.

While I’m a big fan of producer Jerry Bruckheimer’s movies that star Nicolas Cage (The Rock, Con Air, Gone in 60 Seconds, National Treasure), the trailer makes me quite nervous.  Everything from the music to the not very good CGI left me less than impressed and the film looks like it aims very young.  Saying that, if I were a twelve year old and hadn’t seen a lot of movies, maybe this trailer would excite me.  Judge for yourself after the jump.

Update: Disney has provided us with three images from the film.  They’re below the trailer.

Here’s the synopsis:

Dave (Jay Baruchel) is just an average college student, …

A peek at the diary of Nicolas Cage | Marina Hyde

'My answerphone message says, "I'll do it." How is it possible that I have no cash?'

How is it possible that I can be Nicolas Cage, most mumblingly, intensely earnest actor of a generation, yet the IRS should be forcing sales of my property? This is the question I asked my son, Kal-El (it's Superman's birth name).

For years, I have opted against taking lower-paying roles in order to star in the most artless action blockbusters. I was in Gone In 60 Seconds. Hell, I was in Ghost Rider. My answerphone message says, "I'll do it." How is it possible that I have no cash?

Kal-El paused. Then he took my hand and said, "I don't want to come over precocious, but it seems to this four-year-old that you maybe bought too much stuff."

I flipped through the two entries in my acting Rolodex, and selected the one in …

Season of the Witch Trailer and TV Spot Online

24 November 2009 8:26 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Spring will be a busy time for Nicolas Cage. His reunion with Gone in 60 Seconds director Dominic Sena, Season of the Witch, opens just a month before Cage stars as Big Daddy in the comic book adaptation Kick-Ass.

Season of the Witch is a departure for both the actor and director. Cage plays an American-accented crusader in the Black Plague-affected 14th century who is tasked with transporting a suspected witch to a monastery, along with Ron Perlman. Lionsgate has just released the trailer and a TV spot for Season of the Witch, both of which have Cage proclaiming, "cut off the head." Cleary they're trying to give Witch a horror edge, but considering Sena's resume, the movie will likely be more action than horror. Check out both below.

The Good, The Bad And The Wtf: Never Been Klingon

Life lesson #1: Never trust DVD menus. They are programmed by humans, and humans lie. Therefore, DVD menus lie. If you buy one and the menu looks wrong, do not show fear. Just stand firm and call your player a filthy liar. Life lesson #2: Don't teach your newborn a fictional alien language instead of English. That is cruel. What's the matter with you? Life lesson #3: Don't take life lessons from a man on the internet. Wait, what's going on? Oh, right, movie updates. Here they are.

Review: Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans

22 November 2009 6:27 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Remember Nicolas Cage? He doesn't work very often so the name may not immediately ring a bell, but maybe some of his films might jar your memory... Birdy, Raising Arizona, Wild At Heart, Adaptation? (Not to be confused with Nicholas Z. Kage, an "actor" who sleepwalks through roles and films like Fire Birds, Trapped In Paradise, Snake Eyes, Gone In Sixty Seconds, National TreasureGhost Rider, Next, Bangkok Dangerous, and many, many more.) He's an actor who craves odd and interesting characters but manages to shape them into real, fully developed people that sometimes outshine the films they inhabit. Where other actors just present an idiosyncratic caricature he crafts people who are more than simply the sum of their quirks. So as I said earlier, Cage doesn't make a lot of movies. The good news though is that after a multi-year absence from movie screens he's finally returned in Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Detective …

New ‘Season of the Witch’ Trailer

21 November 2009 7:14 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

A new full-length trailer has appeared online for the upcoming Nicolas Cage-starring fantasy adventure-thriller, Season of the Witch. If you only come to Screen Rant for your movie news then you might not have heard of or seen much from this movie but there was a short teaser trailer (a sort of Halloween sneak-peek) that surfaced not long ago and we now have the new full-length trailer to make up for it.

Season of the Witch stars Nicolas Cage as, “a 14th century Crusader who returns with his comrade to a homeland devastated by the Black Plague. Trailer: Season of the Witch

21 November 2009 4:43 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Season of The Witch is scheduled for release in March 2010, and I am completely indifferent about it. Whilst I do not think it looks completely terrible, it definitely does not look very good to me. This doesn’t surprise me though seeing as how director Dominic Sena has a track record of mediocre-to-bad films, such as his Gone in 60 Seconds remake (also starring Nicolas Cage), Swordfish, and most recently the critically panned Whiteout. Joining Nicolas Cage in Season of The Witch are Ron Perlman (Hellboy), little-known British actress Claire Foy, and Stephen Graham (Snatch), with Christopher Lee occupying a smaller role.

Watch the trailer and decide for yourself whether you’ll be anticipating Season of The Witch or not.

'Season of the Witch' Gets New Trailer

20 November 2009 10:57 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Lionsgate Films has released a new trailer for supernatural thriller "Season of the Witch". While the previous teaser only managed to introduce some characters of the film, the full theatrical trailer debuted by Fandago gives a look at the journey of a group of knights in transporting an accused witch as well as the obstacles that come in their way.

A 14th century Crusader, Lavey, returns with his comrade Felson to their homeland just to find that it is left devastated by the Black Plague. As church blames sorcery as the cause of the plague, the two knights are ordered to transport an accused witch called The Girl to a remote abbey, where monks will perform a ritual in hopes of ending the pestilence.

On the mission troubled by mythically hostile wilderness and fierce contention over the fate of the girl, they are joined by a priest, a grieving knight, …

Season of the Witch Movie Trailer

20 November 2009 1:30 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Last month, Lionsgate released a special 30-second Halloween teaser trailer for Dominic Sena's supernatural thriller Season of the Witch which had us scratching our heads. Sena is best known as the director of fun but disposable action films like Gone in Sixty Seconds, Swordfish and the recent comic book adaptation Whiteout, and I had heard great things about Brian Schut's script... But the teaser looked like a direct-to-dvd Dark Castle production. The new trailer gives us a much better idea of what to expect, and somewhat raised expectations. Watch the trailer for yourself after the jump, and leave your thoughts in the comments below. Lionsgate Picks Up Man Movie, Last Stand

There will always be a market for testosterone-injected, boob-loving, sports-car-purchasing dude movies. In fact, Neveldine & Taylor have made millions from it with their Crank flicks. Because that.s all that men love, right? Engines, sweet ass, and Mountain Dew? Well that.s what writer Andrew Knauer thinks. ,br> According to THR, Knauer.s Last Stand has been picked up by Lionsgate. The movie follows a drug cartel leader on trial who breaks out of the courthouse with a Gumpert Apollo race car and heads toward the Mexican border. The film is being described as a mix of Gone in 60 Seconds and High Noon. Oh joy. I, for one, will be first in line to catch this flick. 10 Most Fascinating 'End of the World' Movies

There are many theories, ideas or should I say 'schools of thought' on how the world would end. At the height of the Cold War, nuclear annihilation ranks at the very top. While others argue it will not be man who will destroy the world (directly) but - an epidemic of global proportions (most probably from a potent strain of virus - think: I am Legend) or severe climactic change (another ice age perhaps? That would be Day After Tommorow right?) or mechanical uprising (The Terminator, anyone?) or even attack from the outside - conquering aliens (Mars Attacks!) or perhaps an asteroid. And let's not forget zombies!
