Only marginally less fun than carnal gratification!, 29 May 2005

I must make a guilty confession to being somewhat of a fan of the 'Cut & Paste' Ninja films from the 1980's as were churned out seemingly by the bucket load by such cinematic luminaries (snigger) as Godfrey Ho and Joseph Lai. A guilty pleasure veritably, as it would be entirely equitable to describe the films themselves as absolute crap in virtually every possible way i.e. atrocious dubbing (even the American actors had to be re dubbed back into English as the movies were recorded without sound!) completely ridiculous and incoherent plots (as one might expect considering that footage of Caucasian actors were spliced into completely non related Asian movies!) and often woefully inappropriate sound tracks which were stolen from composers as diverse as Jean Michel Jarre and Gustav Holst! But bizarrely, in spite of all this, I just can't help but to derive an almost perverse pleasure from these films. I can only conclude therefore that the sheer overt ineptitude present within these films is precisely and exactly what endears them to me so much. It is a classic example of the 'So bad it's good' phenomena.

Ninja Operation: Knight And Warrior aka Ninja: Silent Assassins is a classic example of the above and is frankly (unintentionally) utterly hilarious......

Watch in amazement as the film makers attempt to edit two actors from two completely and blatantly different movies together so as to make it appear that they are in fact talking face to face in one room!

Gasp at some of the most profound (and out of sync) dialogue ever spoken in a movie!

Marvel as seemingly normal men disappear at will (via decidedly shoddy camera trickery) and reappear moments later as deadly ninja clad in outfits so brightly coloured as to surely make even the Power Rangers jealous!

And finally, soil thy under garments in astonishment when you realise that the sound track is in fact Jan Hammers theme to Miami Vice!

In short, I recommend this movie wholeheartedly! Z-Grade fun at it's very finest!
