"I couldn't do country, with all due respect to all country music artists," says Colfer, who plays Kurt.

Although she is best known for her work in Less Than Perfect and Popular, Sara Rue has built a comprehensive resume dating back to her starring role in NBC's Grand and a Roseanne cameo as a younger version of the star, blockbuster parts (Pearl Harbor, The Ring) and the occasional reality appearances (Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, E! Hollywood Hold'em). These days, Rue plays Eastwick's most suspicious resident -- the younger, spunkier Gladys Kravitz of ABC if you will -- while developing her own feature film and scouting her next sitcom gig. Movieline spoke to Rue two weeks ago about all of this and Andy Dick as her dogs barked in the background. »

Broadway vet Matthew Morrison shines as "Glee" club head Will Schuester -- but admits to "Extra" that the musical show is more work than he bargained for!
"I've done some other TV work where you spend a lot of time in your trailer -- that's not the case on this show," Morrison reveals to "Extra" during a photo shoot for Orange Coast magazine. "It's like theatre boot camp -- we're shooting an episode while we're in dance rehearsals, »

When I was too old cool for Ramona Quimby’s antics, I moved on to the twin hotties from Francine Pascal's Sweet Valley High, Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. Yes, I did just call two fictional literary characters hot, let’s not make a big deal of this alright? It’s obvious the girls were supposed to be the fairest in all the land because when the books were turned into a TV show, they got Brittany and Cynthia Daniel to play the twins.
Hubba and hubba.
Now, much like all good things from my childhood, Sweet Valley High is being made into a movie. What makes this special news fit for someone way too old cool to pay attention to the Wakefield sisters in this day and age? Diablo Cody will be the one to write and produce the flick.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Cody's formative years were informed by the books, »

Warning, spoilers ahead! Read no further if you don't want to know what happened on last night's episode of Glee.
I'll admit, I'm one of the people who finished watching the Glee pilot feeling a bit wary. The characters were overly broad for my tastes -- including tired, cliched characterizations like the witty, fashion-conscious gay guy, the butch, authoritative female coach and the sassy, overweight African-American. Still, I had hopes there would be more to Glee if given the chance. Ryan Murphy's previous high school series, Popular took a little while to fully find its voice and Glee showed potential with Rachel comments about the necessity of finding online fame.
But with the second episode, "Showmance", I'm feeling hopeful Glee will find its voice quickly. "Showmance" offered some hilarious barbs at conservative pressures in schools thanks to screen time devoted to queen bee cheerleader Quinn, who just might be »

I guess the first major victory for Leslie Bibb was appearing on the show Popular, which led a couple years later to playing Mrs. Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, and from there she had the great morning after scene in Iron Man, wearing Tony Stark's shirt.
But Bibb is getting a big, juicy leading role in the small dark comedy, Miss Nobody. I don't want to reveal anything about the plot; I'll let the trailer do that for you. But for a shoestring budget project, Miss Nobody has a pretty good cast, including Kathy Baker, Adam Goldberg, Brandon Routh, Vivica A. Fox, Barry Bostwick, Missi Pyle, and Eddie Jemison.
For the most part, I like what I see out of the trailer; it could be tremendously quirky in just the right way: »

1. V (ABC)
Usually we are not that much into remakes of popular movies or tv franchises, simply because it’s usually a sign of creative desperation. Just look at The CW’s overwhelmingly desperate attempts to gain glory by remaking Fox’s signature teen shows from the early 90s. In the case of ABC’s “V”-remake however, we feel surprisingly optimistic. It’s easier to re-imagine a sci-fi-concept for a new decade, because that particular genre offers more opportunities than most other genres. As Ronald D. Moore’s “Battlestar Galactica” proved successfully, you can take a dated franchise and create an entirely new world out of it, while at the same time making it contemporary by adding themes that play a huge part in our society now. The first footage we have seen of “V” makes us confident that the show will do just that and if that is »

It's finally here, folks — Glee! Fox gave Ryan Murphy's dark comedy a plum, post-American Idol spot to show off its hot new property, hoping to generate some summertime excitement in advance of its fall debut. I've been pretty high on Glee's charms since I first viewed the pilot episode in January. Though it has been tweaked slightly since then, its inherent fun and goodness have remained intact. I'm very curious to see how all you respond to the story of one man's somewhat self-serving quest to revive a high-school glee club. I think Murphy has succeeded in his quest to create a show with heart, but not without sacrificing the subversive, um, glee, with which he usually operates (see: Nip/Tuck, Popular). So let's meet the Glee gang, shall we?

At the upfronts yesterday, Fox announced the renewals and cancellations of current shows — Dollhouse, Fringe and Bones are getting another season, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is not (damnit!) — and presented their new ones.
You'll be shocked — shocked! — to learn that, except for the black family comedy Brothers, there's not much racial diversity among the leading roles on Fox's new series. Or many prominent roles for women: the only new Fox show with a female lead is the midseason drama Past Life. I miss Sarah Connor already.
Fox will be bringing us the new Saturday-night talk show from Wanda Sykes in November, though, which features "Sykes's outspoken comedic perspective on current events along with topical, high-energy roundtable discussions."
Here's a preview of the new Fox shows, with summaries and trailers provided by Fox (courtesy of the excellent TV news site TheFutonCritic.com). I've also added my take on each series, »

Has Ryan Murphy gone soft on us? The writer-director, best known for quirky, dark dramas like the teen satire Popular and the plastic-surgery freakfest Nip/Tuck, wanted to do something different, something with heart. The result is Glee, a genre-busting, one-hour comedy about a Spanish teacher (Matthew Morrison) and his quest to rebuild a suburban high school glee club. The show stars a mix of Broadway vets (Spring Awakening's Lea Michele; Kristin Chenoweth and Victor Garber will recur), some familiar TV faces (Jayma Mays, Stephen Tobolosky), and Jane Lynch, who steals scenes as a ball-busting cheerleading coach. Fox is previewing the pilot episode in a plum, post-American Idol slot Tuesday (9 pm/Et) before it debuts in the fall. Murphy told TVGuide.com what inspired the edgy songfest, what "rules" give the show structure, and, finally, what we can expect from Nip/Tuck's final season.

Chicago – Much closer to Alexander Payne’s “Election” than Disney’s “High School Musical,” the pilot for Ryan Murphy’s “Glee” is one of the best of the last several years, a clever blend of satire, pop tunes, laugh-out-loud comedy, and rich, interesting characters. The one thing I kept thinking during the pilot of “Glee”? This is too good for network TV. It will never last.
Television Rating: 5.0/5.0 “Glee” is about a high school Spanish teacher named Will (Matthew Morrison) who takes over a glee club of misfits including the overzealous Rachel (Lea Michele) and a football star (Cory Monteith) who refuses to be the bully he’s supposed to be.
Will wants to break down a few of the clique walls at his high school and bring joy back to the halls. Music will clearly be a major part of the show, as popular tunes like Amy Winehouse’s »

Chicago – Ryan Murphy is not a TV writer who believes in following the rules. He reached nearly iconic status from the loyal followers of FX’s “Nip/Tuck” and is trying to create water-cooler TV yet again with Fox’s very unique “Glee,” a show that we’ll review later this week (but you can check out a great clip here if you’re impatient).
“Glee” debuts on Fox…in the Fall? In an unusual move, the network is using the juggernaut of “American Idol” to introduce audiences to their new show next Tuesday, May 19th, 2009, but it won’t air again until the beginning of the 2009-10 season. Get your taste now and have the full meal in the fall. It’s an interesting idea.
Murphy took time out of his busy schedule for a conference about the new show and we have the highlights. Don’t miss our »
