Factual errors: During the Clovers' final routine one of the girls that runs by has a belly button ring. No body piercings are allowed during cheerleading competitions, and deductions would result from not following the rules. Similarly, they are wearing body glitter, also illegal.
Continuity: In the starting sequence Torrance raises up and appears to have no top/bra on. An off color gauze wrap is visible around her chest, especially when it bounces upwards.
Factual errors: The Toros do a "fly over" in their routine. (A "fly over" is when a flyer is flipped off a pyramid.) A "fly over" is a highly illegal dismount in high school competition and results in disqualification.
Continuity: During the car wash scene, Cliff's car is covered with mud and grass the first two times it is shown and only mud the last time it is shown.
Factual errors: At the very end at finals, there are both coed and all-girl squads being judged in the same division. In a real UCA competition those are two separate divisions and are judged separately.
Errors in geography: In the Cheerleading National Championships in Florida, the sun is seen setting over the ocean. Daytona is on the east coast of Florida.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Casey is popping her zits in the mirror, you hear Darcy complain and then Casey say "okay", but her mouth is not moving
Continuity: The position of the water barrel at the football game; it gets knocked down in close up but is still there on wide shots.
Continuity: When Aaron hugs Torrance after he tells her she isn't "Captain Material", their cheeks are touching. In the next shot his head is resting on her shoulder.
Miscellaneous: One of the cheerleaders from the Toros appears also to be a cheerleader in the Clovers (she is very short with brown hair). They are, in fact, different girls, played by twin sisters. it still seems improbable that they would attend different high schools let alone high schools more than 100 miles apart.
Continuity: When Missy and Torrance visit the clover's gym, Missy's arms are by her side when we see her from behind, and then crossed when we see her from the front.
Continuity: At her audition, Missy does not carry out the sequence of moves she is asked to.
Continuity: The clock in the gym during the practice with Sparky changes between shots.
Continuity: At the regional competition, during the clover routine, the person Isis is dancing with changes between scenes several times.
Continuity: When Torrance is getting a pen while she's on the phone, the pen changes to a crayon in between shots.
Miscellaneous: The high school in the football game where Torrance has "cheer sex" with Cliff, the Torros are playing Costa Mesa High School, although the colors were Estancia High School's colors. Estancia is the rival school to Costa Mesa.
Continuity: After they decide to continue to go to Nationals, you see the team practicing the Wolve's Wall. In this scene, you can see Carter, who broke her leg, and you can easily see that everyone is in the same clothes that they were in after Torrance was voted Captain.
Factual errors: In the end scene when the East Compton Clovers are presented with a check for twenty thousand dollars, in the top left corner of the check it says "Universal Cheerleading Association," when UCA REALLY stands for Universal Cheerleaders Association. Also teams do not normally receive money for winning UCA Nationals.
Miscellaneous: During the Toros Final performance, about a minute or so into the dance, a girl can be seen being dropped in the background.
Continuity: After the football game, as Missy is talking to Torrance about how they should have a rumble, etc., the earring in her right hand changes position between shots, then all of a sudden is in her ear.
Continuity: In her audition, Missy smudges the "tattoo" on her arm with her finger. She smudges it downwards. Later, when Torrance goes to her house, the smudge marks can be seen to go upwards.
Continuity: After the tryouts Whitney closes her notebook just before Missy enters the room. In the next shot, the notebook is still open.
Continuity: In the auditions scene, the stripper starts off with a top that covers three-quarters of her midriff and has a design on it. By the time she's on the table, she has only her bra on (see Alternate Versions).
Miscellaneous: Sharon Muscat's name is misspelt as 'Sharon Mucat' in the credits.
Continuity: The position of Cliff's car when he is at Torrance's house changes. In the first shot of the car, it is far down the road on the left side of the street, facing the house. In the second shot, it is on the right side of the street, much closer to the house, facing the opposite direction.
Continuity: When Torrance drops the Spirit Stick at Cheerleading Camp, the position of her hand on the stick (before she drops it) changes between shots.
Continuity: When Leslie is using his dad's camera at the car wash, Torrance's hair is wet. When Cliff comes, her hair is dry and styled.
Continuity: Right before the "You believed in me" scene, Torrance is handed a paper by some of the other cheerleaders, but when she walks off to tell Cliff that she broke up with her boyfriend she no longer has the paper.
Continuity: When Missy encourages Cliff to "be aggressive" in telling Torrance how he feels, the "VI" tattoo on his arm is substantially faded from how it appears in all other times it can be seen.
Continuity: Late in the movie during backstage scenes for the final competition several extras in the background of one shot are wearing University of Washington cheerleader uniforms. They are clearly out of place at this "High School" competition.
Factual errors: When Torrance pulls the controller out of her brother's PlayStation, the top opens but there's no Twisted Metal CD in there.
Factual errors: UCA high school national competitions are held at Disney World. The college nationals are held at Daytona Beach.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: After the scene where Missy storms out of cheerleading practice and Torrance chases after her, they are arguing outside Missy's car. Torrance says "Come on" but her lips don't move.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Cliff is playing guitar at his house and Torrance goes to his room, his hand hits the floor but guitar music continues to play.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Torrance is staying at Missy's house, she walks into Cliff's room while he's playing the guitar. His left hand never changes position on the neck, yet he's "improvising" a constant succession of chords.
Revealing mistakes: In the gym, after Aaron sells Torrance out to Courtney and Whitney, and she declines to retire her position, when the squad decides to Learn a New Routine for Nationals, Torrance says to Courtney and Whitney, "How about it, girls?". She then looks in a direction that would put Courtney and Whitney in the bleachers several rows up instead of five feet away from her.
Factual errors: When Torrance drops the spirit stick, it is a red, white and blue wooden stick. This is an NCA spirit stick and they are at a UCA camp. UCA's spirit sticks are blue, yellow and white and are hollow plastic tubes with end caps.
Errors in geography: At the Finals in "Daytona", a pier can be seen on the beach behind the stage. There is no pier at Daytona. The actual filming location was in Oceanside, CA.
Continuity: When Torrance, Jan and Les pick up Missy in Les' jeep, Missy and Torrance have the short tank tops of their cheerleading outfit on. At the football game, however, which is where they are headed in the jeep, all the female cheerleaders have on long sleeve shirt tops.
Continuity: When Missy auditions for the Toros, she's told that "tattoos are strictly verboten." But during the car wash scene, one of the male cheerleaders clearly has a huge tattoo across his back.
Continuity: Whenever Cliff appears on screen, in some shots, he appears to have a tattoo of a roman numeral on his upper left bicep. In the scene where Missy is practicing her cheers in their living room and Cliff walks in and makes fun of her, his 'tattoo' is severely faded and almost completely washed off from his skin. However, in the final scenes in the movie, during the shot of Cliff in the crowd rocking out to the Toros' routine at Nationals, Cliff's arm is raised and his tattoo is once again visible and freshly filled in. It *is* possible that Cliff could have just liked to draw fake tattoos on his body like his sister did in the audition scene, but being as the film takes place over a several month period, the odds of him continually drawing the same tattoo in the same spot is highly unlikely.
Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Missy is asked to do a front handspring step out in her tumbling pass she actually does only a cartwheel and not the front handspring she was asked to do.
Factual errors: At one point, Torrance mentions that they have less than three weeks before Nationals and "since the football team sucks, they can use night games for practice". Earlier she said that Nationals were February 10, which would make it mid-January when she gives her "Three Weeks 'til Nationals" speech. In January, high school football season would be long since over.
