• Continuity: Sara goes to Chenille's the first time by walking under the "L". After Derek walks her home, he leaves in the opposite direction. After the ballet, Derek leaves again in the opposite direction.
  
  
• Continuity: On Sara's first day at the new school, she is walking up the front stairs and there is a guy with braids outside. After she goes through the metal detector, she walks past a door in the hallway, and the guy is there again, this time with his jacket off.
  
  
• Continuity: The bus bears the number K989 in the windshield, they get on a bus that bears a different number.
  
  

• Continuity: In the break-up, Sara, seated, has a sweat spot on her sweater. After walking across the room, the spot has disappeared.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: Large set lighting piece visible twice in Sarah's bedroom. Once, beginning of movie when she first arrives in Chicago. Again, very noticeably, when her father reveals the redecorated room.
  
  
• Factual errors: There are several other mistakes in the movie's use of Metra trains.
  
  
• Continuity: The blood on the corner of Malakai's mouth after Derek punches him in the face in Steppes (dripping down, then a very small amount, then back to dripping down again).
  
  
• Continuity: When Sara first goes to the club, she is seen greeting Diggy and all their friends. In one of the next scenes in the club, on the same night, a break dancer is shown in the middle of a circle. Diggy is seen in the circle watching, with a completely different outfit on.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: During the shooting at the basketball court Derek's elbow pads are visible.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When everyone goes to Steppes together for the first time, Chenille tells Sarah that her son Christopher's father is coming over to them. Her lips do not match her words.
  
  
• Continuity: When walking into Steppes with Sara, Derek passes a girl with long braided hair and a cowboy hat. When they make their way to the dance floor a couple of seconds later, the same girl is seen on the dance floor.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: Obvious double when Derek is dancing and does the splits.
  
  
• Continuity: When Derek and Malakai leave Stepps through the back door after Malakai's fight, the door is alternately open/closed between shots.
  
  
• Continuity: The chair during Sara's final audition changes direction, depending on which side the camera shot is from.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: During the ballet lessons, the class is dancing. Although you hear the teacher saying exactly which movements the students should make, you do not see her lips move at all. The given instructions are synced with the visuals.
  
  
• Continuity: First scene at Steppes, when Sara and Derek are dancing, one of Nikki's friends is dancing next to them, then it cuts to her sitting with Nikki while they talk about Sara then cuts back to the dance floor where she is still dancing next to them.
  
  
• Continuity: The first scene at Steppes has several shots of the dance floor that are from the final scene of the movie. You see Diggy in the pink pants and Nikkie in the black skirt as well as the individual dancers.
  
  
• Factual errors: Juilliard is misspelled as "Julliard" on the sign announcing auditions.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The same shot showing the school entrance and a guy wearing a yellow jacket walking on the street is used twice. Once in the scene where Sara arrives at the school for the first time, and once right before the scene with Malakai and a girl in the school bathroom.
