Numerous photographs of Lecter's victims are shown.

A man getīs his belly cut open and thrown out a window with a noose around his neck, his intestines fall out and splatter on the ground below.

A man has his throat cut, blood spurts in large amounts and the gaping wound is shown several times.

Three men are eaten alive by the boars.

Hannibal Lecter opens the skull on a man and feeds him his own brain. At the film's conclusion he feeds some of the cooked brain matter to a young boy.

Hannibal cuts off his own hand with a meat cleaver after Clarice handcuffs him, although this is only implied and never shown.

Profanity

17 F-words, several anatomical references, a few mild obscenities and religious profanities, and a few insults.

Some civilized drinking.

The idea of a character eating his victims, which is never seen but referred to constantly, could disturb some viewers.

One character's face is severely deformed and seen in detail.

The brain-cooking scene is quite intense and will disturb even some of the most hardened of viewers.
