Wow! This movie does remind me strangely of an epic videoclip. The story is a little weird, and I won't tell any of it. There is only little story, most of the movie is carried by the characters and the situations. There are many laugh-out-loud scenes and only very few jokes are below par.
Visually, it is nice, but not outstanding. The few rooms used are nicely furnished, and the costumes are simply brilliant. The sepia-coloured black&white enhances the film and makes it very relaxing to view. Yet in some scenes I didn't find the shots too good, it's solid work, but it might have been done better.
The Nine Lives of Thomas Katz takes you on for a ride if you allow it to. But I've also encountered people who just couldn't relate to it. That gives it one further advantage. If you like the comic and the absurd, and you are rather open-minded, this movie is great to irritate your friends, who still think There's Something About Mary is the funniest movie ever made.
