Continuity: When Boyd is trapped in the black van, a door gets ripped off by a parked car. Moments later the door is back.
Revealing mistakes: On a number of occasions very visible dummies are substituted for real actors.
Continuity: Boyd grabs a submachine gun from one of the terrorists, which changes to two different handguns and back again between shots (although the sound remains constant throughout as that of a submachine gun).
Crew or equipment visible: In the first action scene on the bridge, some of the pistons attached to the bottom of the trucks to make them flip over are visible.
Continuity: When Orin handcuffs T.K. to his truck the grill is pulled off, but it is fixed an unfeasibly short time later.
Revealing mistakes: The board with which T.K. hits George is obviously foam rubber - it bends when it hits him.
Continuity: When Boyd first confronts the carjackers, the car thief with the pistol can be seen holding the pistol in his belt, with his shirt pulled behind it. However, the next scene shows the thief pulling his shirt up, uncovering the pistol under his shirt
Continuity: During the happy face helicopter attack sequence on the bridge, trees that are clearly covered in green leaves in some shots are bare in others, and snow is visible along the riverbank in some shots but not in others. This is due to part of the scene being filmed during summer time, and subsequent retakes being shot several months later (see Trivia).
Crew or equipment visible: When DMX changes clothes from his street outfit to a suave suit, a crew member's reflection can be seen on the closet door watching him.
Errors in geography: Although the film is set in Detroit, there are at least two instances of shots that show that Hamilton, Ontario is standing in for the Motor City. Early in the film, when Boyd and his partner are driving through "Detroit", there is a clearly visible marquee showing the logo of Skydome, a stadium in Toronto. Just as the movie ends, in the street scene where Boyd departs, the bar across the street has a sign with the letters "L.L.B.O.," for Liquor Licensing Board of Ontario, on it. During the chase Tim Horton's is visible, too (this particular store is located at the corner of Hughson and King Street East in Hamilton, Ontario).
Errors in geography: Toronto Street Car tracks are occasionally visible.
Revealing mistakes: The city is supposed to be Detroit, but during the opening bridge scene, the Calgary Tower (in Canada) can be seen clearly.
Factual errors: In the 1987-1994 Range Rovers of the type that Mulcahy drives, the button that sounds the horn is located on the end of the turn signal lever. However, during the chase scene, Mulcahy's horn sounds when she presses the center of her steering wheel.
Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt double in the e motorcycle chase.
Errors in geography: The movie takes place in Detroit, but when Orin is fighting with Anthony Anderson, the background shows The Bay. The Bay ( The Hudson's Bay Company) is a Canadian store.
Continuity: During the chase scene when Boyd is in the big van, the driver’s side mirror is seen dangling. A second later, the mirror is perfectly fine. A moment after that, it is completely off the van.
Errors in geography: Other visible Toronto landmarks early in the movie include the Canadian Broadcasting Corportation (CBC) - the large building with red crosses in the window, and Roy Thompson Hall, the glass domed building.
Revealing mistakes: During the climax of the movie, just after Chief Hinges shoots Daniels, a small flame left over from the pyrotechnic charges can be seen coming from the end of his shotgun.
Continuity: During the shootout on the bridge, Orin Boyd knocks out an enemy and takes from him a submachine gun. Though each following shot shows Boyd wielding a .45 semiautomatic pistol instead of the weapon he just took, the gun still fires in automatic mode, which is impossible for that kind of weapon.
Factual errors: While this film was correct in not having front plates on vehicles (Michigan only has rear plates), a government vehicle in the state of Michigan wouldn't even have a place to put a front plate, as all new vehicles sold in the state of Michigan don't even have that feature. Only used, out of state vehicles do.
