It looks like Joss Whedon will be heading back to theaters soon. No, it won't be Buffy or Serenity, but rather a thriller he co-wrote called The Cabin in the Woods.
Variety reports that MGM has bought the script, which was co-written by the film's director, Drew Goddard. I know...it's a little bit of a letdown knowing Whedon won't be directing, but it's a little exciting that Goddard - a writing and producing vet of Buffy, Alias, and Lost - should finally get a chance to direct. Especially when you weigh in the fact that he wrote Cloverfield.
We don't know much about the story, but I think we take a guess. I mean, it's a thriller called The Cabin in the Woods. Probably won't be a nice, relaxing weekend in the country.
What we do know is that the film marks something of a milestone for MGM. One of the original major studios,

British comedy Kinky Boots is heading for Broadway - the 2005 film is to be made into a stage musical.
The movie, which stars Talk To Me actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, is about a drag queen who is brought in to help revive a man's shoe company.
The rights for the project, which was not a musical, have been bought by veteran producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig and they plan to turn the film into a song and dance affair for their New York audience.
Roth tells the Hollywood Reporter, "The story is about relationships and I want to find the heart at the centre of it."
Jerry Mitchell, the director of Broadway's Legally Blonde, is reportedly in talks to take the helm of the Kinky Boots production.

Anyone else not looking forward to Anna Faris’ upcoming comedy “The House Bunny”? Well, I don’t really blame you. Judging by the trailer, this is just another super-silly comedy with absolutely no story, no laughs and probably no decent performances.
Directed by Fred Wolf, who also brought us the horrible “Strange Wilderness,” the film stars Faris as a Playboy bunny who’s checking into a geeky sorority after being kicked out of Hef’s mansion. Somehow, the whole thing sounds like a disastrous mix between “Legally Blonde” and “Sydney White.”
Apple today posted an exclusive clip from the film, and as expected, it’s not really funny at all. But see for yourself. “The House Bunny” shows up in theaters Aug. 22, 2008.
Try the Youtube version below, but in case it does not work anymore, head over to Apple Here to see the clip.

It's not unusual to see a filmmaker appear at two different festivals in two months, but usually, it's with the same film. If Dori Berinstein is aiming to be the most popular documentarian around, she's certainly not wasting time.
After wowing audiences at Sxsw only a month ago with "Some Assembly Required," a film that followed a kiddie competition to build a new toy, Berinstein is back at Tribeca with another crowd-pleaser, "Gotta Dance," which goes to the opposite end of the age spectrum to chronicle the inaugural season of the Netsationals, a dance squad comprised of 60-year-olds and above. (It actually makes sense that their jersey numbers reflect their ages, which top out at 83.) While some of the dancers in "Gotta Dance" have a reverse legacy
