I like Aaron Eckhart and I’m actually looking forward to his next movie where he leads an army platoon against… aliens! How can that not be good? The film is called Battle: Los Angeles and the title says it all (except the aliens part).
Ekchart was cast as the lead back in November of 2008, following the success of The Dark Knight and this summer, it was announced that Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena and Bridget Moynahan would be joining the fight as well, alongside Ramon Rodriguez (TF2: Revenge of the Fallen) and R&B singer–songwriter/record producer/actor, Ne-Yo.
Two new photos surfaced over the holidays for the sci-fi action flick; one depicting Eckhart in battle attire and the other of an explosion.
When hostile aliens invade, they go straight to blowing up La

Today, HeyUGuys was able to interview a true legend when it comes to movies. Examples of films he has scored include True Romance, Thelma & Louise, Black Hawk Down, more recently the likes of Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and his latest being that of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes. On his first ever assignment for HeyUGuys, Adam Farina was given over 30 minutes to talk with the composing icon and you can listen to the full interview audio below.
Points that might be worth taking note are that of the ‘projects’ he and Nolan are currently looking at collaborating on. It has to be the Dark Knight follow-up doesn’t it?! Or is it just Inception which they are both currently working on?
Take it away Adam…..

Billy Ray's script would be featured on the Black List, and with DreamWorks waiting for their Paramount divorce to finalize, I imagine the project collected some dust. Variety reports that Jon Cassar (from television's 24) will replace Len Wiseman in the director's chair and Ryan Reynolds is now the leading frontman for the role of the disgraced Secret Service agent who happens to be in the wrong place at the right time when the U.S. president is kidnapped in New York. Cassar has directed fifty-plus episodes Jack Bauer's misadventures - the high octane experience will certainly help with he format for this spec.

Hancock sequel held up, says director Peter Berg

Back in August, two writers were hired by Columbia to pen a sequel to the Will Smith superhero hit Hancock.
Director Peter Berg said the follow-up would expand on the original's mythology by introducing other immortal beings.
But he also indicated that despite the studio's desire to fast-track the project, all the key players were busy and there was no 'burning imperative' to rush right back into it.
Now Berg has admitted there will be a long wait for the sequel to come together.
Speaking to Latino Review, he said: "It's being written now and it's an issue of everybody involved in Hancock. There are so many cooks in that particular kitchen that it's so busy and Will [Smith] has kind of taken time off to be with his kids.
"There are so many people involved in that, from Will to his partner James Lassiter to Akiva [Goldsman] to Michael Mann, myself

Peter Berg Puts Lone Survivor on Hold to Sink My Battleship

For a while there, Peter Berg had his eye on adapting the book “Lone Survivor”, based on the true story of former Navy SEALs Marcus Luttrell. But it now appears as if “Lone Survivor” will have to wait for a bit, at least until Berg finishes up “Battleship”, based on the boardgame of the same name for Universal. Recently, Universal flew some bloggers over to talk to Berg about the upcoming sci-fi actioner “Battleship”. (Yes, I said sci-fi actioner, because the movie is apparently going to be an alien invasion film — read more here.) During the trip, the topic of “Lone Survivor” came up, and Berg sounded very enthusiastic about making it his next movie post-”Battleship”.
“‘Lone Survivor’ is what I want to do next. If you haven’t read that book it’s an incredible story and a really dynamic one, in the vein of like a ‘Black Hawk Down

As if adapting a movie based on a board game isn’t difficult enough, Peter Berg’s adaptation of Battleship ran into serious rough waters* when it was revealed that the antagonist of the movie would be aliens. Aliens vs. Battleships. Wisely, Berg and Universal realized that the only way to combat such a negative reaction so far in advance of the film’s release was to open the floor to online journalists and withhold as little as possible. And after reading the coverage, especially from Chud.com and Latino Review, Berg has washed away some serious doubts. He describes his plans for the aliens, how he plans to tell the story, the characters, as well as throwing in some bonus, non-Battleship-related news relating to Hancock 2 and a possible sequel to The Rundown. Hit the jump to become a believer in Battleship.

Tom Hardy’s Crazy Year

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Inception is filled with rising stars who have seen 2009 as their breakthrough years. Marion Cotillard starred with Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Public Enemies and will be singing with Daniel Day-Lewis in Nine, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt starred in the indie hit (500) Days of Summer and had a small part as the villain in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. But it is Tom Hardy, who received critical praise for his performance in this year’s Bronson, that may finally see Inception as his big ticket to stardom.
After small parts in films like Black Hawk Down, Layer Cake, and Rocknrolla, Bronson provided Hardy the role he needed to get noticed in Hollywood. Opening in October 2008 at the London Film Festival and playing January 19, 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival, Bronson showcased the range and talent Tom Hardy has by putting him in the lead role as prisoner Charles Bronson.

Who We're Thankful For In 2009: Tom Hardy, From 'Bronson' To 'Mad Max: Fury Road' And 'Inception'

Tom Hardy is a man you should be watching in the new year. Let's face it: he's a man you should have been watching since HBO's stellar World War II miniseries "Band of Brothers" aired, his screen debut. You can be forgiven for missing "Bronson" this fall, as the movie didn't open very wide. It was however critically hailed -- with good reason -- and a hit in the UK, where the subject, notorious criminal Charlie Bronson, is well-known.
Next year is going to kick off a whole new chapter however, as Hardy steps into a role formerly occupied by a younger Mel Gibson. He'll star as the titular character in George Miller's long-awaited return to our grim post-apocalyptic future in "Mad Max: Fury Road." He'll also be seen in "The Dark Knight" director Chris Nolan's "thriller of the mind," "Inception."

Tom Hardy has been an "Oh yeah, it's that guy" actor for years: You recognize him, you just don't know from where. After making a big splash in Hollywood earlier in the decade with parts in the HBO World War II miniseries "Band of Brothers" and the urban warfare flick "Black Hawk Down," Hardy was poised to break into the A-list. But a starring role in "Star Trek: Nemesis" — a film so bad it effectively killed the franchise for years — and an alcohol- and drug-fueled breakdown contributed to a professional downfall from which Hardy slowly emerged by getting sober and returning to theater work.
Now he's back with a critically acclaimed turn as an iconic British prisoner in "Bronson" and

Monopoly Movie Is a "Metaphor for Life"

When first announced way back in February 2008 that Universal had signed a six-year deal with Hasbro to produce film adaptations of many of the company's classic board games, more than a few people began scratching their heads and rolling their eyes. Even more surprising was the news that Academy Award-nominted filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott, currently at work on his update of Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, was attached to direct the Monopoly adaptation.
If you're wondering what attracted the acclaimed director of Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, and Body of Lies to a movie about "Uncle Pennybags" and his quest to control the real estate market, just ask Frank Beddor, the man whose plot concept for Monopoly was what won Scott over. Beddor said that after his pitch, Scott shook his hand and said, "What do I have [to do] to be part of this movie?" So, what was the pitch?

I’ve never heard of William Kaufman, but the boys over at Quiet Earth have, and they’ve been following his latest movie, the action/crime thriller “Saints and Sinners”. The film stars relative unknown Johnny Strong, who has had small roles in some big Hollywood action movies like “Black Hawk Down”, “Get Carter”, and “The Fast and the Furious”, but “Saints and Sinners” will mark his biggest role to date. Besides Strong in the lead, Kaufman has surrounded him with some notable genre names, including Tom Berenger, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Kim Coates. And oh yeah, the Mandylor brothers are apparently both in the film. But never you mind all that, check out this trailer for the movie. Now that is a trailer.

Laroche said: "At its heart Almighty is a pursuit story. As the story unfolds there are other things that are attached to it but at the core of it, a girl has been kidnapped and someone has hired a killer to find her and bring her home." The official website for Almighty is here.

Vanity Fair Contributing Editor Mark Bowden delves into the darkest, most disturbing corners of the Internet this month in “A Crime of Shadows.” Bowden examines the case of J, a convicted sex offender who served a year in prison after a Philadelphia police detective engaged him in Internet sex talk about children. J, who never committed, nor, he insists, intended to commit, any actual molestation, is guilty of airing his perverse fantasies (many unfit to print) to an undercover cop. But the real crime? It’s not clear there ever was one. Bowden spoke to Vf Daily about the legal and moral complexities of the case. Claire Howorth: For people who associate you with Black Hawk Down and Killing Pablo, this will seem like a very different subject for you.

HBO Films Grabs the Rights to Guests of the Ayatollah Novel

Variety reports that HBO Films has picked up the novel "Guests of the Ayatollah: The Iran Hostage Crisis, The First Battle in America's War With Militant Islam," by Mark Bowden (he wrote the book Black Hawk Down).
Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center) will be adapting this book.
The property chronicles how 66 Americans were taken hostage on Nov. 4, 1979. Many were not freed until January 1981. The event started as an expression of student outrage over the U.S. decision that allowed the ousted shah of Iran for medical treatment. It then spawned the rise of Ayatollah Khomeini and his hardline Islamic supporters.
There was a rescue attempt that ended disastrously, and the crisis hung over the Carter administration. It also bolstered the rise of the conservative Republican Ronald Reagan. He defeated Carter in the election, then "promptly unfroze $8 billion in Iranian assets and took the bows when the hostages were freed."

After two decades, however, actual development is occurring on the next installment of the Mad Max franchise.
Variety is reporting that Charlize Theron (The Italian Job, Hancock) and Tom Hardy (Black Hawk Down, Star Trek: Nemesis, Bronson) have both been cast in Fury Road. Now, as interesting as that casting is everyone is still anxiously waiting to find out if Mel Gibson will reprise his role as Mad Max. When Director George Miller was asked about this he was vague to say the least, “It could be Mel, it could be anyone.”
Whether Gibson is involved or not I’m left wondering if this particular film needs a sequel
