With Chuck returning with new episodes on January 10th, NBC has started promoting the show by releasing three clips from the season premiere.  If you’re like me and a huge fan of the show, you’ll enjoy the clips as they showcase Chuck’s new abilities.

*Spoiler Alert* If you missed last season’s finale, it ended with Chuck getting a new version of the intersect that’s fundamentally changed the show.  Now, instead of Chuck helpless against the agents of Fulcrum, he’s going to spend this season as a super spy.  Should be a lot of fun.  Hit the jump for the clips:

Rumor: Hawkman Solo Movie Getting Developed?

22 December 2009 8:33 PM, PST | FusedFilm | See recent FusedFilm news »

Smallville, the hit Superman series on The CW, is premiering a TV movie this February that will feature a significantly huge DC character in Hawkman. Playing the role is Michael Shanks from Sg-1 fame.

It seems DC might be keen on testing Hawkman’s commercialism with the mainstream. This might be because DC comics wants a Hawkman movie.

Pajiba is saying that DC Comics and Warner Brothers are developing a Hawkman movie that is being described as “part Indiana Jones, part Da Vinci Code and part Ghost” (via @firstshowing).

One of the biggest reasons why Shanks was sought out was because his typecast as Daniel Jackson on Stargate, an archaeologist. Like Daniel Jackson, Hawkman’s alter ego is just that. Carter Hall, a reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince, Khufu, who had in the modern day discovered that the mysterious “ninth metal” could negate the effects of gravity and allow him to fly. »

Geek Gossip: Hawkman, Green Lantern's Carol Ferris, Spider-Man 4, James Bond

22 December 2009 2:25 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Today's round-up has a distinct superhero (and action hero) motif.

Where there are upcoming films, there is gossip and speculation and the hero genre is no exception.

Sadly, so much turns out to be fiction and fabrication so I am warning readers now to switch on their bulls**t detector and set it to maximum as we head deep into Rumourville.

Only the other day, I brought you the 'story' about Taylor Swift (the singer whose awards acceptance speech was disrupted by Kanye West storming on stage) being a top choice to star in a new Supergirl movie.

The project was allegedly called Supergirl! The Love Story. This rumour originated on Hollyscoop, the site that previously scooped poop when it told us Miley Cyrus was going to be cast as Batgirl. Is the needle on your bulls**t detector twitching yet? It should be.

Okay, so on to today's gossip. »

Hawkman Movie Soon Taking Flight?

22 December 2009 9:18 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The guys over at Collider picked up on a story yesterday that was first floated by Pajiba, regarding DC/WB possibly moving ahead with a Hawkman movie. I don’t really have all that much trust in Pajiba, but Collider’s report at least warrants us discussing the subject. Good guys over there.

Apparently, since the formation of DC Entertainment earlier this fall, the Dce/WB squad has been working hard on trying to catch up to Marvel in the super hero movie game (makes sense). This is pretty much the point of Dce – streamlining creative properties into profitable multimedia franchises – and reportedly, they are striving to make it happen, including getting some of their second-tier heroes (Hawkman) developed into Iron Man success stories.

Producers like Joel Silver and Akiva Goldman – who have been working with superhero properties for awhile – are being name-dropped as the sort of big guns who »

TV bites: Nick Jonas 'Live,' 'Spartacus' lives, 'Vampire' casting

21 December 2009 2:39 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Nick Jonas stood up for his brother Kevin at Kevin's wedding over the weekend, and in a couple of weeks he'll be standing in for a slightly older pop-culture icon: Regis Philbin.

Jonas will co-host "Live with Regis and Kelly" on Jan. 8. That's six days after he embarks on a tour with his new band, Nick Jonas & the Administration, and a few weeks before the band's album goes on sale. The "Live" gig will be his first stab at hosting a talk show.

Philbin is on leave from the show while he recovers from hip surgery.

- Starz has given a second-season pickup to its series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" -- a month before the show begins its first season.

The pickup allows the series, which is produced by Sam Raimi and is based on the Roman gladiator who led a slave revolt, to go back into production early next »

Rumor Patrol: Taylor Swift as Supergirl?

21 December 2009 1:35 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Our friends over at Latino Review have correctly dubbed this following rumor as the “stupid news of the day.” They heard from the super-reliable sources over at Hollyscoop (sarcasm alert!) that young pop music sensation Taylor Swift is being considered for the role of Supergirl.

The Supergirl project that has sparked this rumor is reportedly called Supergirl! The Love Story and that sound – like the crackle of distant thunder – you just heard was the collective sound of thousands of people across the world slapping their foreheads.

Oh Kanye West, why didn’t you save your ridiculous outburst for the moment when we would truly need it?

Here is what Hollyscoop managed to get out of somebody, somewhere, somewhen, who is somehow involved with this Supergirl project:

Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl. A number of young stars are being mentioned for »

'Hawkman' Movie Takes Flight at Warner Brothers?

21 December 2009 10:35 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Described as "part Indiana Jones, part Da Vinci Code, and part Ghost", exclusive sources at Pajiba report that Hawkman will be the next DC Comics character to get the big screen treatment from Warner Brothers. With Green Lantern shooting in 2010, are we starting to see Warners lay down the groundwork for an eventual Justice League film?

Hawkman has suffered a convoluted, continuity-heavy history, filled with numerous character revisions (revisions that have even contradicted themselves, leading to storylines like Zero Hour, where DC Comics had to wipe their history clean in order to make the character work). In his original incarnation, Hawkman was Carter Hall, a reincarnated Egyptian prince who worked as an archeologist and discovered a gravity-defying element that he used to fashion himself a set of wings. Later stories re-imagined Hawkman as a winged alien policeman from the planet Thanagar. Over the years he's been a "Hawkgod" and an angel, »

Taylor Swift 'top of list to play Supergirl'?

18 December 2009 12:15 PM, PST | The Geek Files | See recent The Geek Files news »

Singer Taylor Swift may have been walked all over by Kanye West at the Vma Awards but according to one piece of gossip, she is about to power up and kick some serious ass as the new Supergirl.

The 20-year-old, who makes her film debut in Valentine's Day next year, is reportedly the "hot favourite of movie bosses" to play the superhero.

According to Undercover, a source said: "Hollywood is short of female heroes and the time is right for a new Supergirl.

"A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls."

It all sounds like a rather suspect piece of showbiz gossip in a year that's also promised us Beyonce as Wonder Woman, Megan Fox as Catwoman, »

College Football Comedy "Blue Mountain State" Debuts In January

18 December 2009 12:21 AM, PST | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Shows like "Friday Night Lights" have shown the intense drama and struggle involved in the football process. But not every feature about the gridiron needs to be about the action, as there are plenty of laughs to be found in the sport.

The upcoming series on Spike TV, "Blue Mountain State," is a comedy about the exploits of the football team at the eponymous fictitious college.

The show follows the school's football team, the Goats. Coached by Marty Daniels (former NFL runningback and "Hill Street Blues" actor Ed Marinaro), the national championship squad faces new talent with incoming freshmen Alex Moran ("Days of Our Lives" actor Darin Brooks), a second-string quarterback with little ambition; Craig Shilo ("Smallville" actor Sam Jones III), a skilled runningback whose manipulative girlfriend ("The Game"'s Gabrielle Dennis) intends to turn him pro by any means necessary; and Sammy Cacciatore (Chris Romano), who doesn't play the »

Smallville's big movie event has been hogging the spotlight since its announcement, and with good reason.  The upcoming "Absolute Justice" has been pegged as a legendary affair, from its array of guest stars to the fact that it lasts longer than your usual TV episode.

While the fans are most excited about the premiere of "Absolute Justice," it seems as though the stars of the flick are unable to keep quiet as well.  Britt Irvin, who plays Jsa member Stargirl on the movie, has unveiled a few spoilers to Fancast.com.  She tried her best to keep the info low-key, but since this is Smallville, things just intensify.

Taylor Swift to Star in Supergirl Movie?

17 December 2009 1:33 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

It's only an unsubstantiated rumor at this point, but Ireland On-Line is reporting that "a source" has revealed that pop country singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is being considered to play Supergirl in a new live-action movie supposedly in development.

A number of young stars are being mentioned for the title role in a Supergirl movie and possible TV spin-off and Taylor is top of that list. She has all the right elements to be a positive role model to young girls.

In the DC comic books, Supergirl's origin has changed many times, and she was even killed off at one point. As in earlier incarnations, the current comic book Supergirl is Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman and one of the last survivors of the doomed planet Krypton. Helen Slater played Kara Zor-El in the forgettable 1984 Supergirl movie, and Laura Vandervoort portrayed Supergirl on TV's Smallville.

Smallville Movie Scoop: Death Leads to Justice Society of America Appearance

16 December 2009 7:13 AM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

On February 5, Smallville will air "Absolute Justice."

This two-hour event is receiving a great deal of hype - and deservedly so. It will introduce Clark to the Justice Society of America, mainly represented by Hawkman (Michael Shanks), Dr. Fate (Brent Stait) and Stargirl (Britt Irvin).

What actually prompts this much-ballyhooed meeting?

“I can’t say too much about this, but there is a death that occurs at the beginning of the episode,” Irvin told Fancast.com. “And that brings [the Jsa] together with Clark and his team.”

Not all characters get along well at first, Irvin added, saying: “Stargirl has a bit of friction with Green Arrow at the beginning, as does Hawkman."

The actress, who has a recurring role on V as Haley Stark, concluded by emphasizing her character's "special connection" with Clark. How come?

"Because he reminds her a lot of her mentor,” she said, remaining mum on that mentor's »

Teen Wolf Remake Has a Cast

14 December 2009 11:40 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

We've not reported on the Teen Wolf remake before, because we were losing the will to live, but with casting now well underway, maybe it's time to grit our teeth.Post (or, we guess, during) Twilight, and with Benicio's The Wolfman finally gathering near-release hype momentum, a new Teen Wolf was perhaps a no-brainer. MTV certainly thought so, and their version of the Michael J Fox comedy from 1985 (which would almost certainly never have hit if not for Back to the Future) is being developed as a TV series with "a greater emphasis on romance, horror and werewolf mythology." No basketball then. The lead character of a nerdy high schooler who gets superpowers and charisma from a wolfbite, will be played by Tyler Posey, from Brothers and Sisters and Smallville (he was also in Collateral Damage: one of two little Arnie connections, since the original Teen Wolf was written by Jeff Loeb, »

Allison Mack, Alessandro Juliani Help 'Riese' Point TV in New Direction

14 December 2009 9:45 AM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

When the Syfy show Sanctuary first started out, it did so as a made-for-the-web, paid downloadable series, sans network. The Vancouver-produced program, created by writer/producer Damon Kindler and exec produced by 'Stargate' veteran Amanda Tapping (also the show's star), generated plenty of positive buzz across the Interwebs, and before long Syfy (then Sci Fi Channel) came a-calling.

Some argued that the producers had "sold out" to a network, abandoning the pioneering spirit which they had first embraced…while others quickly realized that the model of creating a hit on the web might just be one way for new projects to get the attention of the old media guard. They were right, and it did.

Sanctuary was just the first salvo, it seems. The current economic downturn, combined with a strengthening Canadian dollar, may have slowed production in Vancouver, but it's galvanized the city's stalwart journeyman industry, forging it from »

2-Hour Special For Smallville: Absolute Justice

13 December 2009 4:09 AM, PST | HollywoodNorthReport.com | See recent HollywoodNorthReport.com news »

The Vancouver-lensed CW TV series Smallville, focusing on the early life of 'Superman', will debut DC's Comics' 'Hawkman' in the 2-hour TV movie special Smallville: Absolute Justice. The film connects the unaired, new TV episodes Society and Legends. Michael "Stargate SG1" Shanks is Hawkman, Brent "Andromeda" Stait is 'Dr. Fate', Brittney Irvin is 'Stargirl' and Pam Grier is 'Amanda Waller', leader of the superhero team. Smallville: Absolute Justice airs February 5, 2010. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville, the original Hawkman first appeared in Flash Comics #1, published by All-American Publications in 1940. Several incarnations of Hawkman have appeared in DC Comics, all of them characterized by the use of archaic weaponry and large, artificial wings, attached to a harness made from the special 'Nth metal' that allows flight. 'Stargirl' can shoot projectiles from her 'Cosmic Converter Belt', via a 'cosmic staff'. 'Doctor Fate' is a sorcerer, possessing mystical powers by wearing the 'Helmet of Nabu', »

Chuck to Go "Neo-Matrix" This Season

11 December 2009 4:28 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

A season consisting of 19 episodes. An earlier premiere date than originally planned. No more Mr. Nice Spy.

Christmas came early for Chuck fans, as NBC has announced the above plans and more for the series.

No one is more excited than Zachary Levi, who sat down with TV Guide this week and dished on various aspects of season three. Check out excerpts below and the full interview now...

On the new Chuck: He's been gearing up to be a spy for a couple of years. How they've set up this new season with Intersect 2.0 and how that works, I think, is a great concept. It's a little Neo-Matrix, especially with lines like "I know Kung-fu," but then again, our show is a lot of homages to a lot of movies.
