#1 James Cameron to redo “The Fantastic Voyage”
Now don’t be getting too excited because there’s no news that Cameron will direct the project but Variety does report that Cameron is producing the film and from what I can gather, the project (and a few more to follow) is an effort to make use and money from the expensive technology he spent years prepping for Avatar. It’s a great opportunity to remake this sci-fi classic but with “Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem” writer Shane Salerno on board to adapt the original story, I can’t say I’m all that excited.
#2 Natalie Portman starring in “Pride Prejudice and Zombies”
This seems like an odd pairing but Portman does have the looks for period drama though I’m not sure what possessed her to agree to a period piece about a man searching for love amidst a zombie outbreak. Portman

Anthony Michael Hall, the former star of The Dead Zone, returns to primetime as a convicted killer in a guest spot on CBS' CSI: Miami, People confirms.
In the episode taping Thursday and airing next year, Hall will play a charming and charismatic former emergency room doctor who is now a convicted killer.
The actor made headlines last month after being involved in an altercation with an ex-girlfriend, who alledged that Hall hit her. But the actor was questioned by detectives and no charges were filed, according to E! Entertainment.

Question: Is Izzie really pregnant on Grey's Anatomy? —Elle
Ausiello: I'll say this: ABC's promo gurus are very sneaky! While we're on the subject of Katherine Heigl, sources confirm to me exclusively that she's taking another leave of absence from Grey's — but this time her reasons are personal, not professional. Heigl will be going on a belated maternity leave to spend some Qt with new daughter Naleigh. As a result, Izzie

If you are a fan of Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, you probably know that some scenes of the series were filmed in and around the extensive forests of western British Columbia. What you may not realise, however, is that two of the show's stars - Tricia Helfer (Number Six) and Tahmoh Penikett ('Helo') - have lent their talents to a new indie docu-drama that is intended to raise awareness of issues associated with cutting down some of these forests.
The film, called The Green Chain, was written, directed and co-produced by Vancouver-born Mark Leiren-Young. His previous credits include scripts for episodes of the series The Collector, Blood Ties and Psi Factor. He has also written a book, 'Never Shoot a Stampede Queen', articles for 'Time Magazine', 'Maclean's' and 'The Utne Reader', and stage plays.
True to his roots, Leiren-Young focuses The Green Chain on the debate in British Columbia, but it

Starting on September 2nd the final five will begin being aired. Below you'll find a synopsis of each episode and when you can tune in to see them.
"Something With Bite," directed by Ernest Dickerson (NBC’s "Heroes"), is a reinvention of the classic werewolf story from writer Max Landis ("Masters of Horror"), the son of John Landis ("An American Werewolf in London"). When a veterinarian (Wendell Pierce, “The Wire”) is bitten by a large, strange animal brought into his clinic, he begins to see the world and his stale life differently. David Ogden Stiers
David Ogden Stiers, the Emmy-nominated actor who first found widespread fame playing Major Charles Winchester on the TV series M*A*S*H and who later voiced many characters in animated Disney musicals, has come out in an interview with the gay Oklahoma City blog gossip-boy.com.
“I am [gay],” Ogden Stiers said. “Very proud to be so.”
The interview was published in March, but was missed by many media outlets, including this one.
Ironically, Ogden Stiers said it was his later, very successful career as a voice actor that caused his reluctance to come out any earlier.
“I enjoy working and even though many have this idealistic belief that the entertainment industry and studios like Walt Disney are gay friendly, [they weren’t always],” Ogden Stiers said. “For the most part they are, but that doesn’t mean for them that business does not come first. It’s a matter of economics…

Character actor David Ogden Stiers is out, out, out.
Stiers, know for such genre rolls as Oberoth in Stargate: Atlantis, Rev. Purdy in The Dead Zone and Timicin in the Star Trek: The Next Generation but is no doubt most well known for playing Charles Emerson Winchester III in M*A*S*H, came out to the website Gossip Boy.Com
The 66 year-old actor indicates that he's done so at least in part to find a boyfriend. Stiers is single.
The interesting part of his coming-out story is his recounting of homophobia. At several points in his career he was told to keep his sexuality quiet, especially since he was the voice of several very prominent, family friendly roles, including one very notable Disney character, Cogsworth:gb: Could you name some of the studios and execs who made you fear coming out?
Dos: I won’t. There is no animosity between

"How far would You go?" That's what the first teaser trailer to Twisted Pictures latest genre picture The Tortured asks you. (Reminds me of the early "How f***ed up is that?" teaser trailers for the original Saw!)
Directed by Robert Lieberman (TV's Dexter, The Dead Zone & The X-Files) from a script by Marek Posival, The Tortured stars Jesse Metcalfe (TV's Desperate Housewives) and Erika Christensen (Riding The Bullet) as 2 parents who's son is kidnapped by a nasty pedophile (played by genre fave Bill Moseley). Let's just say that judging from this teaser trailer, things don't look too good for Moseley!
No release date is set, but we'll keep you posted. The trailer below is courtesy of our fiends at Dread Central!

Ask the Flying Monkey! (March 11, 2009)

Have a question about gay male entertainment? Ask the Monkey!
(Please include your city and state and/or country.)
Q: What do you think about this whole
“gay face” mini-meme? – Michael
A: The Flying Monkey just heard about it
and I’m already tired of it.
While studies show there is no difference in the actual physical facial
characteristics of gay versus straight men, other studies suggest some gay men
might hold their faces, especially in the mouth area, in such a way that makes
other people more likely to identify them as gay.
And this is news why? We all know there are physical and verbal stereotypes
– mannerisms and such that are associated with gayness. We also know that
sometimes the stereotypes are right – some gay people do conform to them – and
sometimes they’re wrong: many gay people don’t conform to them, and some
straight people who do.
