Mixed feelings, 10 April 2002

I have mixed feelings about this movie. It is one of the most entertaining and original movies I've seen. Some scenes are funny as hell and it's a pretty fun movie in general. But there are some things about it that I found really stupid. First of all, the eye's turning red bugged me. The special effects, instead of being real, were mainly computer generated in that cheesy Full Moon sort of way. Some of the jokes were horribly lame. Edmond and Conor were annoying when they talked to each other. Some of the dialog was incredibly pointless. It's all very amateur. But some things about this movie are amazing and incredibly original, like the almost random use of slowing it and speeding it up and echoes and voice-overs, etc. You have to watch it to really understand. This guy has what it takes to be a huge million dollar Hollywood director (not that Hollywood movies are necessarily good). If the script was a little better, this movie could be huge.

Also, another problem is how completely changed direction from a serious horror to a trash comedy (not that a trash comedy is a bad thing necessarily).

Overall, this is a movie that you must see. You may not like it, but you will be amazed in some way. So anyone at all should see this movie.
