Possibly reflecting growing anti-American sentiments in France, ticket sales at movie theaters tumbled 18.1 percent in February compared with 2002 following a January drop of 13.1 percent, according to the French national film body Centre National de la Cinematographie (CNC). The biggest hit of the year is the Luc Besson-produced Taxi 3, which has earned $32 million so far. (Nevertheless, the CNC said, U.S. films represented 42.5 percent of the total market versus 31.1 percent a year ago.) In Germany, where anti-American feelings are also running high, ticket sales were reportedly down 7.3 percent, according to Screen International. »
