  • Continuity: The same box of Christmas ornaments appears both in the Stileses' master bedroom closet and in the office storeroom.

  • Continuity: When Willard is playing with the spring trap, it is baited in the long shots but unbaited in the close-ups.

  • Continuity: In the funeral home scene when Joseph Carter first walks in, we see him from the waist down and he is wearing a long blue coat. When we see a full shot of Carter, he is neither wearing or carrying a long blue coat. Mr. Martin, outside, is wearing the coat we originally see.

  • Factual errors: The Mercedes S55 AMG is not 350 hp, nor is it a $90,000 vehicle. It cranks out 493 hp and starts at $107,220.

  • Continuity: When Willard is in his father's study he is crying. As he continues to look at his father's things, the tears appear and disappear and re-appear when he picks up Socrates and holds him to his face.

  • Continuity: When the rats are tearing the newspaper, the amount of damage to it is inconsistent. At one point they've torn all the way through the blue banner at the top of the page; later it is whole again.

  • Continuity: There is a close-up of the clock at the office showing that it is 9:21 and therefore that Willard is late again. Mr. Martin shouts at him for less than a minute and then in the background you can see the clock reading about 9:35.

  • Continuity: When Willard feeds the rats in the basement, the container of nuts is next to a Coke bottle. When he leaves the basement, there is no bottle and the lid from the nuts container is in a different place.

  • Continuity: When Willard is walking to Mr. Martin's house with the rats in the bag, his hair style is different than it is in the rest of the movie.

  • Continuity: The gender of the two main rats, Socrates and Ben change through out the film. In some scenes the rats are male and in others they are female.

  • Continuity: Willard lays out some glue strips to catch the mice. A mouse steps on one and gets stuck. When Willard first sees it, the mouse is only glued on the bottom 3/4 of its body. Its front legs are free and it is crawling away with its belly and lower legs flattened onto the strip. Then Willard decides to save it. In the next shot of the mouse, all four feet are on the glue strip with its belly raised up. It is also in the center of the glue strip whereas before it was hanging off one end of it.
