Two preteens kiss.
Gore: Very little gore (for example, in one scene, a pirate gets shot in the chest, and looks down, and there is no blood, and a barely seen hole in his chest before he falls into the water). That said, the lack of blood does not come across as overly protective or anything for older viewers, as it simply adds to the fantasy theme of Never Land, and does not take anything away from the movie.Violence: Much swordfighting, with few wounds that you do not actually get any close looks of. There is character death, but again, not much visual gore. While it is a movie that is somewhat related to the Disney cartoon, Peter Pan, it is based more closely on the book by J.M.Barrie, and it for a slightly older audience. Anyone older than 7 or 8 ought to enjoy it, and anyone pre-teen or older should understand and appreciate some of the character complexities as well as the action.Hook describes how he lost his hand in a duel and it was fed to a crocodile, which now wants to eat all of him. He has a collection of sharp and dangerous looking hooks to wear. He threatens some children menacingly with them. A man tries to poison a boy. A fairy drinks the poison instead and nearly dies. She turns blue. Children are chained to a rock to be drowned by the rising tide. Skeletons from former victims are still attached to the rocks. A crocodile eats a man. A girl is shot with an arrow and characters think she was killed.
Some profanity heard, but considering that it is set in older times, and in fantasy Never Land, some of the worst you hear is "Blast!" or, from Hook, "I'll cast anchor in you!"
Brief shots of cups or bottles of alcohol; not a main feature. Also, Wendy is at one point offered a drink or a cigar from a pirate, which she turns down.
Mentions of non-explicit death and scenes of action, fighting, swords, and pirates. Still, a movie anyone over 7 or 8 should see easily, though parental supervision may be necessary for people below about 10.Scary looking and sinister mermaids in the darkness. One tries to pull a girl into the water.
