Idina Menzel's Role on 'Glee' Not Yet Confirmed

4 hours ago | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Although the news have spread that Idina Menzel will guest star on "Glee", creator Ryan Murphy is still clueless about what to do with the actress. Rumors suggested that she would either be the biological mother of Lea Michele's character Rachel or the coach of McKinley High's rival glee club, Vocal Adrenaline. However, the fact is Murphy hasn't figured out anything.

When met at Hollywood Radio and Television Society panel on Wednesday, December 16, Murphy told People, "I don't know what I'm doing with Idina yet." He added, "I just met with her once. It sort of got leaked, but I haven't plotted it out yet."

Menzel's participation on the musical drama was confirmed when cast member Chris Colfer told The AP, "We had Kristin [Chenoweth] now Idina's coming. I can't even fathom that. I can't even talk about it. I am so, so excited." While he can't say anything yet about Menzel, …

'American Idol': Adam Lambert on another best of '09 list; Kat McPhee does karaoke contest

10 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Hot off the heels of being No. 5 on Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009, Adam Lambert is moving up the charts again -- this time as one of MTV's Top 9 Men of the Year.

The "American Idol" runner-up beat out "Twilight's" Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson for the No. 3 spot. MTV.com is citing Lambert as possibly the biggest "Idol" star of all time, in the media outlets everywhere you looked in 2009. (Lautner is No. 4, Pattinson, No. 6, in case you were wondering.) Eminem, Drake, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne are also on the list. MTV will reveal the top two spots later this week.

What do you think? Is Lambert the biggest "Idol" contestant? Somehow Jennifer Hudson comes to mind instead, but that could just be us.

-- And speaking of Idol runner-ups, 2006 runner-up Katharine McPhee is doing her best to stay in the spotlight with a karaoke contest on Dailymotion. …

The Last Schmaltz?

12 hours ago | Movieline | See recent Movieline news »

Though it's well-known that Simon Cowell's contract with Fox expires in May 2010 after the ninth season of American Idol, the stalwart snarker is set to announce a new deal regarding his future with the show -- and alleged plans for the American spinoff of his British hit X Factor. X Factor is ostensibly Idol, but with more contestant ballyhooing from the judges. The best possible scenario: Simon Cowell announces that Idol will go on, just under the name X Factor, and voters can elect to eliminate Kara DioGuardi or Randy Jackson and replace them with a free-flying Union Jack at any moment. Watch: Adam Lambert tackles 'So You Think You Can Dance' finale, 'Chelsea Lately'

Adam Lambert and Blort stopped by "So You Think You Can Dance" last night, to sing "Whattya Want From Me." Who is Blort? It's whatever the hell that fluffy black thing is perched on his right shoulder. Leona Lewis, J-Lo and Mary J. were all at the finale too, but the "American Idol" star shone the brightest, as his live television performances of his "For Your Entertainment" tracks ever-improve. Lambert went heavy on the glitter eyeliner and the glam for this knock-out performance. But, considering the show's theme, it would have been fun to at least see some skipping or a …

'American Idol' Kris Allen dons Christmas sweater for Letterman

14 hours ago | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Kris Allen and his band provided quite the show on the "Late Show" Wednesday night.

Each band member brought the holiday spirit and donned their gay apparel, what looked to be the ultimate in old man Christmas-themed sweaters.

Kris himself chose a very debonair cardigan. Nice touch with the musical staff epaulettes.

Naturally, the song choice of the night was "Live Like We're Dying."

On Kris' Twitter, he teased, "We have a special guest for David letterman tonight." Shortly afterward though, he posted, "Ok the peeps at letterman wouldn't let our guest join the show but we were going to have Santa play the drums."

You're a mean one, Mr. Letterman!

'American Idol's' Adam Lambert on 'Chelsea Lately': Acid trips, being fat and all gay men love each other

Update: Lambert's appearance resulted in "Chelsea Lately's" biggest audience ever -- 1.3 million viewers.

Adam Lambert stopped by "Chelsea Lately" Wednesday night -- and now we just want to have margaritas with Adam and Chelsea. Video below.

We are big fans of Chelsea Handler's interviews. Sure, at times she is abrasive, but for the most part she's frank and funny and actually asks interesting questions. Our favorite part of the Adam Lambert interview is the discussion about tripping on acid when deciding to audition for "American Idol."

Adam says that while he was tripping on acid, he had an epiphany about who he should be as an artist and that he needed to make things happen, instead of waiting for things to happen to him. Chelsea responds, "I'm so lucky that when I was tripping on acid there was no 'American Idol.'"

Which stars had the biggest year? All this week, we'll be unveiling our top nine men and women of 2009, counting down to the #1 man and woman on Friday.

3. Adam Lambert

When season eight of "American Idol" premiered January 13, no one knew who Adam Lambert was or what he'd become. Sure, his first audition — he took on Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" — raised a few eyebrows, but in the early stages of the show, Lambert was outshined by the likes of Normund Gentle and that chick who wore a bikini.

That all changed with a vamping take on Michael Jackson's "Black or White," a decidedly demure version of the Smokey Robinson-penned "Tracks of My Tears" and, of course, his now-legendary cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World. …
