  • Continuity: When Darius is hanging on the helicopter, the way he holds it changes in between shots.

  • Continuity: When Darius Stone is a waiter carrying glasses of champagne, the number of glasses on his tray changes - down to one and then back up to three between shots

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Steele and Darius are discussing the presidential chain of command, Steele says, "President, VP, Speaker of the House, Secretary of State..." as the chain of command to leave the Secretary of Defense as President. That skips President pro tempore of the Senate (after Speaker of the House) and Secretary of the Treasury (after Secretary of State) so it would require six leaders be assassinated, not "just" four.

  • Continuity: When Darius is on the speed train and the gas is leaking from the broken hose, in a scuffle a lighter falls out of his pocket. The lid however, was closed when shown laying on the floor. Later when Darius grabs for it, it is then already open.

  • Continuity: When Darius has escaped from the jail through the air vent and is on the roof, the wide shot clearly shows the exhaust fan still in place, even though he had kicked it out to get through.

  • Crew or equipment visible: As Gibbons's car drives into car park the dolly tracks are reflected in the red car.

  • Revealing mistakes: Obvious stunt double when Darius is escaping from jail.

  • Continuity: When Darius Stone is first infiltrating the carrier ship, he climbs out of the water onto a chain. In long shots he is still wet, but close-ups show that he is dry.

  • Continuity: In the final chase between the Cobra car and the train, the speed indicators are frequently desynchronized: when the car is at 240-260 mph on the road (about 10 meters behind), the train is trying to reach 190 mph. Due to the speed difference, the car should have overtake the train more than 10 times in this sequence.

  • Continuity: When Darius, Lola, and Shavers are watching the news report after Gen. Pettibone's murder, the bag of Bugles corn chips that Shavers is eating changes from one shot to the next. It turns from the red bag for original flavor, to the yellow-orange bag for the nacho cheese flavor.

  • Revealing mistakes: Right after Darius blows the boats, Steele is on the dock firing at him. It is clearly shown that he shoots a couple rounds but his finger is not on the trigger.

  • Factual errors: When they were supposedly on the aircraft carrier "Independence" there was one shot showing the flight deck and island (tower); clearly visible is the number 12, which is actually the CVS 12 USS Hornet (now a museum); the Independence is CV 62 and is mothballed in Bremerton, WA.

  • Factual errors: When Zeke uses the main gun of the hijacked tank to blow a hole in the US Capitol Building so Darius and Steele can get inside, he is seen loading a sabot shell into the gun. This round is incapable of causing an explosion as seen in the film, or making a hole that size in the building.

  • Revealing mistakes: The guard tower sniper at the prison is seen firing at Darius with an M40 bolt-action rifle during his escape on the helicopter, yet he is not seen operating the action and the sounds of the shots are too close together for this type of weapon.

  • Errors in geography: There is no "West side" or "South side" to Washington, DC. The best parallel to the "South Side" as referred to in the movie would be Southeast Washington. And the best parallel to the "West Side" would be Georgetown.

  • Errors in geography: The actors say the President's Bullet Train runs out of the city along I-95 to the north-northwest. I-95 does not go through Washington (rather around it), and it goes northeast from the city through Maryland or south-southwest from the city through Virginia.

  • Factual errors: When Darius jumps from the presidential bullet train on the bridge, he is in free fall for 41 seconds before hitting the water below. The bridge looks to be only a couple of hundred feet high. In reality, a human body in free fall would fall approximately 6000 feet in 41 seconds, assuming a stable skydivers body position. The distance fallen would be greater if falling in any other body position.

  • Revealing mistakes: When the truck crashes through the barricade enroute to the Capitol building, you can see the cable attached to, and pulling on, the Humvee to pull it out of the frame to the right.

  • Factual errors: When the bullet train is shown exiting the tunnel from beneath the Capitol, it is shown going at a very high rate of speed. It makes a right hand turn that would clearly make standing in the train impossible due to the high inertial forces that would be imposed during the maneuver. In spite of this, all of the occupants of the train are immediately shown standing straight up inside the train without difficulty.

  • Factual errors: During the chase of the bullet train, the operator of the train states that he cannot stop the train as he has no air pressure for the air brakes. In reality, air brakes work by supplying air to the brake pistons to keep the brake pads off of the rotor or away from the drum. When you apply the brakes, air pressure is removed from the system allowing spring pressure to force the pad to contact the rotor or drum. This is a fail-safe mode safety feature designed for an instance just like this. Thus, if the brakes lose air, the vehicle comes to a stop, and doesn't lose it's ability to brake.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Darius makes the jump from the prison roof to the helicopter, he is seen in slow motion diving towards the skid. From this side shot, it is obvious that his arc will put him a couple of feet short of the skid. In the next shot, he is shown easily reaching the skid to grab on.

  • Continuity: During the tank chase on the aircraft carrier, the amount of flames on the back of the tank that Darius is driving changes during shots. The flames on the right rear go from a lot of flame, to none, back to a lot several times.

  • Factual errors: On the aircraft carrier, Darius hooks up the tank to the catapult and subsequently launches it off of the deck. Assuming the Bradley's tracks would not snag, this would be impossible. As the catapult would have to be powered up (it is steam powered), and there are several safeguards in place to keep a single individual from firing the cat. The catapult has to be set, it is not just "hot" all of the time, even if steam is available to other systems on the ship.

  • Continuity: In the last scene where Darius gets into the Mustang to leave, you see him start to pull out. In the next shot from a different angle, you see him at a standstill, and he pulls out once again.

  • Continuity: When Lola gives Darius the keys to the blue Mustang, you can clearly see that there is no tattoo on the back of Darius's neck. But in the next scene in the car, as he is driving away the xxx tattoo is there.

  • Factual errors: General Pettibone's evening dress uniform is lined in red trim. In reality, red trim is only on the evening dress uniform of enlisted US Marines. As an officer, the General’s evening dress uniform should have no trim, and should be all midnight blue.

  • Factual errors: To gain access to the Aircraft Carrier, Darius climbs up the anchor chain. Anchors are only used when off the coast, or in a harbor. Ships at the dock or wharf are tied up via mooring lines.

  • Miscellaneous: Deckert continually refers to Cobb as "Sergeant" when he is listed in the credits as "Lieutenant Alabama 'Bama' Cobb".

  • Factual errors: The Tank Commander's hatch of the M1 Abrams slides open instead of "hinging" open, and the inside of the tank looks nothing like the inside of a real Abrams.

  • Plot holes: The DVD packaging for the Region 1 disc offers a brief biography on Darius Stone as "a thrill-seeking troublemaker whose criminal record and extreme sports obsession make him the perfect candidate to be the newest xXx agent." Darius never once alludes to anything or any interest in extreme sports the entire film, and all of his extreme actions are out of a need of necessity, not of thrill-seeking. The biography seems written about the original xXx (Xander Cage), than to Darius Stone.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Plot holes: SPOILER: Immediately following the sequence where the rebel military forces are killing the group of individuals leaving the Capitol during the State of the Union Address, General Deckert orders one of his men to shoot President Sanford. The shooting is interrupted by the rescuing forces starting it's assault on the Capitol. At this point, General Deckert takes the President and one of his men and escapes to the presidential bullet train. Why would he take the president at this point? He had just ordered the President killed, so taking him to kill him later would only result in his plan being more open and exposed.
