  • SPOILER: The immolation scene with Mars was cut because of the rating. The scene was supposed to have a close up shot of Mars' face melting off the bone. The director said that the scene was too much.

  • SPOILER: When Tommy sneaks into his sister's room to get her cellphone, on the back of her door is a poster of the Tower card of the Tarot deck. This reference foreshadows great violence and destruction of the house by fire, but also the Fool's revelation and redemption. The Fool is Talley (Bruce Willis), and his revelation is how much he loves and needs his own family.
