  • Factual errors: There is an assortment of minor factual errors (wrong medals or medal ribbons displayed on uniforms, anachronistic architectural features, etc).

  • Continuity: When Hanfstaengl listens to Hitler speak the first time you can briefly see a Swastika flag behind Hitler in one shot. It is not until later that Hitler comes up with the swastika symbol and introduces it at Hanfstaengl's dinner party.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Mrs. Hanfstaengl argues with the housemaid, a yellow position marker is visible on the floor.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: An officer says, "There is an armed group heading toward the barracks." However, the sound and his lip movement is not in sync.

  • Continuity: During the Beer Hall Putsch, Ernst Hanfstaengl is walking next to Hitler on the way to the War Ministry. In the next shot he is running away from the mob. How did he get to the back of the mob at the pace he was walking?

  • Factual errors: The flag with the swastika in a white circle on a field of red was not in use in the early days. The emblem combining the swastika with the German eagle seen on a lectern was not used until the Nazis were in power.

  • Factual errors: German officers do not wear campaign or decoration ribbons on their tunics in the style of the Brtitish and American military.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): While Hitler hands out leaflets in 1919, a newspaper is shown titled "Kommunistische Simme" - the correct german title would have been "Kommunistische Stimme" (Communist Voice).

  • Anachronisms: During the segment set in "July 1918" the Lieutenant informs a young Hitler that the unit is to be redeployed to the Eastern Front. Russia had already signed a peace treaty with Germany in 1917 so by this point in the war there was no longer any "Eastern Front".

  • Factual errors: Hitler's father did not die at home - he died at a beer hall.

  • Factual errors: Hitler would never have spit like he did in the movie during speeches at the Beer Hall in Munich. Despite his atrocities, Hitler was known to have excellent manners and would never have talked and spit up food, as he does during the interview with Fritz Gelich.
