DJ Am, who was found dead in his New York City apartment on August 28, has been laid to rest on Wednesday, September 2. The celebrity deejay's friend, Travis Barker, was seen attending the private funeral service, donning a stripped outfit matched with sunglasses.
At about 3:00 P.M., Barker along with Am's friends and family began to congregate at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles for a funeral service honoring the deejay, whose real name is Adam Goldstein. Seen among the guests were DJ Jazzy Jeff and "Ocean's Twelve" actor Scott Caan.
Then, at around 4:00 P.M., the service, which was held in the mortuary, moved outside. Later, the procession was continued with some cars followed by the hearse to the back of one of L.A.'s most prominent Jewish cemeteries for the somber burial.

Anthony Mackie has been a reliably solid supporting actor in the last couple of years; he's wonderful in The Hurt Locker and was entertaining as Tupac Shakur in the often woeful Notorious. Now he'll have a chance to continue that run in The Adjustment Bureau, the adaptation of a Philip K. Dick short story starring Matt Damon. George Nolfi (Ocean's 12, Bourne Ultimatum co-writer) wrote the script and will direct, with Damon starring as David Norris, "a smooth-talking congressman whose political future is thrown in doubt by uncontrollable events and the arrival in his life of a mysterious ballerina." Emily Blunt plays the ballerina, and we don't yet know what role Mackie will take. Dick's original short story is called The Adjustment Team, and was originally published in 1954. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Emily Blunt will star alongside Matt Damon in the upcoming silver-screen realisation of the Philip K. Dick sci-fi short story called The Adjustment Team, here upgraded to The Adjustment Bureau. It will be the first film directed by George Nolfi, who is rather more practiced as a screenwriter. He's written for several other Damon projects, such as The Bourne Ultimatum, the as un-titled fourth Jason Bourne film and Ocean's Twelve, and he's adapted Dick's story into the screenplay for this one too. You'd guess he likes the way Damon gives a line reading. That headline may be just a bit misleading. The project is titled The Adjustment Bureau and is a sci-fi love story based on the Philip K. Dick short story titled "Adjustment Team" (found in this collection). THR announces that Emily Blunt will star opposite Matt Damon in the film, which is being written and directed by screenwriter George Nolfi (Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, The Bourne Ultimatum). Universal is developing the project with Media Rights Capital. It sounds like this will be going into production soon and be the next project for both Blunt and Damon, however, no start date was announced in the THR article. "Adjustment Team," first published in 1954, has similarities to Alex Proyas' Dark City. Ed Fletcher, a real estates salesman, finds out that our world is really one big soundstage controlled by strange and mysterious guardians. James Cameron's forthcoming film Avatar is becoming a phenomenon before it's even been released. More than 12 years after Titanic — itself a landmark film in scope, grandeur and visual effects — Cameron appears poised, by all accounts, to have upped the ante yet again, fashioning a film that those with intimate knowledge of the project tout as remarkable.
After Titanic, Cameron was quite emphatic that he wanted to wait for technology to get advanced enough in order for him to tackle a new project. That project is Avatar, a science fiction film with a budget of over $200M, scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18. And while we haven't yet seen a trailer for Avatar (sorry Wolverine fans), those who have seen early footage from the film have been suitably impressed.

An update to another installment of "Bourne" films, "Untitled Bourne 4 Project", has been brought forth by producer Frank Marshall. Posting a message on his Twitter page, the five-time Academy Award-nominated producer revealed that the fourth sequel of "Bourne" series is in the work for a possible summer 2011 release.
In his announcement, he first wrote, "Bourne4 is in the works for Summer 2111." Quickly realizing the mistyping he did, he then added another post which read, "Yes, alittle too fast on the typing, it's 2011. And I wonder if anyone knows who else was born in Nixa, Missouri?" He furthermore confirmed that "Ocean's Twelve" writer George Nolfi will indeed pen the script and is expected to finish the draft by June.

So it looks like Twitter really is becoming a good resource for updates. Producer Frank Marshall wrote a few updates on his Twitter (twitter.com/LeDoctor) recently related to Bourne 4, the in-development fourth sequel in the Jason Bourne series. "Bourne 4 is in the works for Summer 2011," Marshall wrote. He later added in another update that "George Nolfi is the writer of Bourne 4, [and he] should have a draft by June," mentioning that, "it really takes long to get these scripts right!" Of course! And especially on something like this, I'm more than happy that Marshall is taking as much time as he needs and not rushing into it. Providing an update to another installment of "Bourne" films, Matt Damon has come up with a confirmation that a fourth "Bourne" movie is indeed in development. The Academy Award-recipient gushed on the "Untitled Bourne 4 Project" matter in the interview with Parade Magazine.
Asked whether his return to play Jason Bourne for a fourth time has been made official, Damon responded, "We're working on it." Explaining more on the project, he said, "This time it would be from an original script rather than a book by Robert Ludlum. But the director, Paul Greengrass, is busy and I am too, so we'll see what happens."

Matt Damon reunites with "Ocean's Twelve" writer George Nolfi in a new sci-fi thriller for Universal, "The Adjustment Bureau."
Nolfi, who also co-wrote the screenplay for "The Bourne Ultimatum," will make his directorial debut on the film, budgeted at to million. He also wrote the script and will produce along with Chris Moore, Bill Carraro and Michael Hackett.
As per the Hollywood Reporter, the plot will be laced with romance, sci-fi and action. It will center on a politician (Damon) who falls for a ballerina only to find mysterious forces keeping them apart.
The story is loosely based on a Philip K. Dick short story.

Sorry, that headline is a bit deceiving - no, Will Ferrell and Matt Damon are not going to be starring in the same movie, but Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg will be! An interesting article hit Variety today that outlined two separate projects, one from Will Ferrell and one from Matt Damon, that are looking to get picked up be studios and greenlit for release in 2010. Ferrell's project is an action comedy called B Team to be directed by Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers). Damon's project is a contemporary sci-fi love story called The Adjustment Bureau based on a Philip K. Dick short story. The Adjustment Bureau is being written by George Nolfi, of Ocean's Twelve, The Sentinel, and The Bourne Ultimatum. The project is loosely based on an unspecified Philip K. According to the trades, studios are filling their 2010 release schedules and are currently hearing spec-pitches. One of the potential projects is B Team, an action comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg with Adam McKay at the helm. Several studios are said to be bidding on B Team, a flick that casts Ferrell and Wahlberg as cops. Chris Henchy, who wrote Ferrell’s upcoming Land of the Lost, is behind the script. Henchy also co-produces Wahlberg’s Entourage and executive produces Eastbound & Down, the HBO comedy series that stars Danny McBride. Bond girl Olga Kurylenko joins "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Orlando Bloom and "Ocean's 12" actor Vincent Cassel in a new border-war film "Cross."
The film is set in a futuristic border town. Bloom plays a man who wants to cross the mysterious border, something no one else has achieved before, while Cassel plays the guard who will go to any lengths to thwart him from his goal. Kurylenko will play the female lead.
The Australian-France-Germany co-production is being produced by Bluewater Pics in Sydney, Spangherabero Films in Paris, and Opal Film Produktion in Berlin, as per Variety.
Andrew Niccoll will direct and co-produce the million sci-fi escape project, which kicks off shooting in July. Wieland Schulz-Keil, Jonathan Shteinman, Jean-Vincent Puzos, and Remi Burah will also produce.

I'm never quite busy enough to have scheduling conflicts. Sure, sometimes I want to go hang out and do nothing and I find that I have to have dinner at my in-laws instead, but that's really about it. Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, has serious scheduling conflicts. He can't be in a 3-D live action musical because he's going to be off doing....something. As we noted back in October, director Steven Soderbergh is planning to make a musical about Cleopatra called Cleo. Jackman was tapped to play Marc Antony alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones as the Egyptian queen. According to Variety, he has now removed himself from the movie because he has a conflict. It's just not clear what the actual conflict is. I'm sure there is one. Or maybe he saw Ocean's 12 and figured the whole Soderbergh and Zeta-Jones combination was bad mojo.
