Old school video game fans are not going to be happy with this! A trailer for the live-action adaptation of the classic Snk 2D fighting game The King of Fighters has surfaced online and it looks as though it’s a serious contender for the worst video game-to-film adaptation ever made.
Starring Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Maggie Q (Live Free or Die Hard), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), and martial arts expert Ray Park (Darth Maul from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace), The King of Fighters is directed by Gordon Chan, who although was behind the terrible Jackie Chan film The Medallion, also made the much loved Jet Li classic Fist of Legend.
The film’s premise is wildly different from the game it’s based upon. According to Movieset:
“The King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe »

This promo trailer for Gordon Chan's upcoming King of Fighters---yes, yet another fighting game film adaptation---is both simultaneously hilarious in its total cheese-factor, and also totally depressing when you remember that this guy directed Fist of Legend. Our friends over at Quiet Earth dug up this trailer, and I agree with them that this looks like the second coming of Corey Yuen's D.O.A: Dead or Alive. That could either be great news, terrible news, or a bit of both. I'm leaning towards the latter. Even as a fan of the Snk King of Fighters video game series that this film is based on, I can barely tell what's going on in this trailer. The film stars Sean Faris (Never Back Down) as Kyo Kusanagi (in the games he was the leader of the Japan team. So, um, yah...), Will Yun Lee (Elektra, Bionic Woman) as Kyo's rival Iori Yagami, »

Attention children of the '80s: If you haven't already heard, television's Ken Ober died at the age of 52. The cause of death is not yet determined, although his agent noted that Ober "complained of headaches and flu-like symptoms on Saturday night." While he produced shows like Mind of Mencia and The New Adventures of Old Christine, he's probably best known for his time as the host of MTV's '80s quiz show: Remote Control.
Remember it? Three players would get strapped into arm chairs, answer questions about television and film (basically anything that could be found on TV), find food raining down on their heads, and get entertained by the likes of Colin Quinn, Kari Wuhrer, Denis Leary, and Adam Sandler. It was part classic MTV ridiculousness, and part media junky geek party.
In memory of the host and show, I thought I'd take us back in time for »

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" star Jessica Biel, gave thumbs up for Ben Affleck's taste in woman and addressed Ben's wife, Jennifer Garner, as her girl crush. However, Jessica insisted that she's no competition for Ben because she isn't sexually attracted to Jennifer and her admiration for the "Elektra" star is purely platonic.
Jessica, who is now dating Justin Timberlake, said, "My girl crush is Jen Garner at the moment (but) here's the thing with girl crushes: it's more of a respect thing." She continued, "It's like, you're beautiful, you're cool, you look and seem like somebody I would want to hang out with and your career is awesome."
On November 10, Jessica Biel and Jennifer Garner were spotted breaking bread together at Madeo in Los Angeles. The two actresses were co-stars in the star-studded Garry Marshall's movie, "Valentine's Day", which will be released in the U.S. on February »

With the doors of ER’s County General Hospital now forever closed, poor old Goran Visnjic – who played dishy doc Dr. Luka Kovac – has had to find a new home. And it looks like he’s decided to give the big screen one last try by signing on to join Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Inglourious Basterds star, Melanie Laurent, in Beginners.Mike Mills – the director of Thumbsucker, not to be confused with R.E.M.’s frizzy-haired bassist – is directing the indie movie, whose plot is being kept very firmly under wraps, from his own script. Filming has already begun in L.A.Visjnic, thus far, hasn’t exactly set the movie world alight. He’s had bad guy turns in the likes of Practical Magic and The Deep End, was the love interest in the risible Elektra, and impressed in Michael Winterbottom’s Welcome To Sarajevo. But, now »

Filming on the Vancouver set of "Eclipse" is getting close to winding down after a nearly three-month shoot, but vampire casting news continues to trickle in. The latest addition to the "Twilight" family is 19-year-old Kirsten Prout, who will play the role of Lucy, according to a report from E! News.
Prout is best known as a co-star of the ABC Family sci-fi series "Kyle Xy," in which she played Amanda Bloom, a neighbor and love interest of Kyle, the cloned human at the center of the action. She appeared alongside Jennifer Garner in 2005's "Elektra," and in his review for that movie, Kurt Loder called her "plucky in an agreeably unirritating way" and said she "suggests a pint-size Renée Zellweger."

Another actress has joined the cast ensemble for Kristen Stewart's "The Twilight Saga's Eclipse". A representative for Kirsten Prout has confirmed to E! Online that the 19-year-old beauty will be part of the third installment of the vampire drama movies, starring as vampire Lucy.
In the David Slade-directed film, Prout's character, Lucy, is described as a prominent part of the back story of Jackson Rathbone's Jasper Hale. She teams up with another vampire named Maria, who is played by Catalina Sandino Moreno, to build a bloodsucking army. Unfortunately, Maria and Jasper will eventually kill the Canada-born star, so she may not appear in the next "Twilight" film, "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn".
Kirsten Prout previously portrayed Abigail Miller in "Elektra" alongside Jennifer Garner. She has also made an appearance in sci-fi TV series "Stargate Sg-1" to star as Nesa in the episode entitled "Birthright". Additionally, the young »

The newest addition to the cast of Twilight is, predictably, a hot young girl. E! says that Canadian actress Kirsten Prout is joining the cast of The Twilight Saga Eclipse to play the vampire Lucy. Not sure how we missed this story earlier in the week, but it did break the day after the Reaper Awards, so you can't blame us for moving a little slowly. In any event, it looks like The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has found its Lucy, Canadian actress Kirsten Prout.
Bloody Disgusting got the early word on Prout's selection, mentioning her past roles as Amanda in the TV series "Kyle Xy" and Elektra's ward Abby. But how exactly does Lucy fit into the Eclipse storyline?
Turning to the always helpful Twilight Saga Wiki for some assistance, we learned that Lucy was a Southern vampire who worked with Maria (Catalina Sandino Moreno), the vamp who made Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), one of Edward's "siblings" in the Cullen family. She helped put together an army for Maria before eventually turning on her and being killed by Maria and Jasper. Since the character is described as tall, »

Columbia Pictures revs up for a second installment of "Ghost Rider."
The studio is in early negotiations with David Goyer to create the story and supervise writers. Nicolas Cage is expected to return as Johnny Blaze and his hero alter-ego Ghost Rider.
The original 2007 film was just okay, but it's finding new blood in cable and DVD. The first film was written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, the same guy who gave us "Daredevil" and Elektra (he only wrote that Jennifer Garner flick).
Goyer hasn't signed on to the sequel yet, but apparently, the "Batman Begins" writer penned a "Ghost Rider" script years ago and Columbia's interested.
Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul are producing, with Gary Foster as executive producer. Arad is also working with "Twilight" director, Catherine Hardwicke, to adapt James Patterson's "Maximum Ride" book series. He is also securing film rights to make »

A few weeks ago, I called Sandra Bullock's rom-com, All About Steve, part of her comeback tour. Boy, did I get that wrong.
What I didn't know at the time was that All About Steve has been collecting shelf dust for two years, because the movie's financial backers didn't know what to do with it. After Bullock's stellar box office showing in The Proposal and Bradley Cooper's surprise success in The Hangover, the good folks who brought us Miss Congeniality 2 decided to go ahead and release Steve.
It came out Friday to the worst Rotten Tomatoes ratings I have ever seen in my life.
It was late afternoon on Friday before it moved past a zero percent approval rating.
Still, Steve brought in over 13 million dollars on opening weekend (though there is no record of how many people demanded their ten bucks back after the movie was over). So, »

On September 8, Varése Sarabande releases a CD from Nathan Barr's original score to the hit series True Blood. Now there's already a True Blood CD out there, but don't confuse the two - the disc by Elektra/Warner Bros. contains only the songs from the show and nothing from Barr's music. The new disc (pictured on the right) finally changes the situation and will feature 45 minutes of the Southern swampy tunes by the composer, not to mention to highly demanded songs: "Take Me Home" and "Sancto Erico", both of which underscore crucial scenes in the series. In the following interview you get to know all about Barr's music, his collaboration with Lisbeth Scott on the songs and a recent epidemic that's plagueing the world of television composers - namely not receiving any money from the online viewed episodes of your favourite television shows.

Every year, Beloit College puts together a list of facts regarding the mindset of the class entering college this Fall—the Class of 2013. Their list, as always, is well worth a read, but this is ComicMix, and we’re here to talk about comics, by gum.
So as we get ready to send them off to college, we wondered: what constitutes the comics status quo for them? What’s normal to these kids born in 1991 (he asks, knowing that being born in 1986 puts him in largely the same boat)? So glad you asked.
The guy who did the above strip had already ended his daily strip and retired by the time these freshmen started reading newspapers. There has never been a Miracleman (or Marvelman) comic published in their lifetime. They have no idea who Don Thompson or Carol Kalish were.Gambit has always been on the X-Men.Spider-Man was always married to Mary Jane. »
