Boogeyman Another Disappointing Horror Thriller

Boogeyman is another disappointing movie disguised as a horror thriller among many like One Missed Call, The Grudge, and the Happening to name few. Director Stephen T Kay does an okay job of making this movie but the lack of real scares, suspense build up, and the dialogue at times is what weighed it down the most. The cast are good in their roles including Barry Watson, Emily Deschanel, Sky McCole, and a brief appearance from Lucy Lawless who's nearly unrecognizable in her small part as Watson's troubled mother. I only wish their performances were in a better movie. The rest of the cast are okay but no one stands out. The film does offer a little suspense and it was creepy occasionally but it didn't scare me at all. Some of the characters aren't really developed either besides Watson's which didn't help the movie either. The trim running time of 89 minutes made the movie feel rushed but I'm not complaining because Boogeyman isn't worth watching for any longer than that. Overall Boogeyman joins a long line of other horror films that have a little suspense and decent performances but end up being major letdowns compared to better ones out there.
