Wow this is a confusing one i watched this film last night on DVD having missed it at the cinema. It was not what i had expected at all. Whilst viewing at times i was frustrated, annoyed, mystified. But also entertained, interested and encapsulated. I went to bed pondering the film and have spent most of the day thinking it over.
The marketing for the film had led me up one alley and actually seeing the film pulled a U-turn on me. Its so much more than i expected. I like the concept and premise of the enemy within. Guy Ritchie has brought it to screen in a fashion that will not suit everyone but ultimately if you embrace it you get the answers to the questions that are raised. I also think that those questions and answers will differ vastly between viewers as will there reaction to the film.
I like it, it's a dangerous move on Guy's part to put out a film marketed as a bog standard genre movie turn it on its head and see what people think. He 's obviously set out to achieve a thought provoking film set apart from the everyday. Through slick direction and cracking performances from his cast he has made a film that doesn't leave you, It stays in your mind whether you think it good or bad. You certainly won't feel indifferent. It's a piece work which has got people talking. Guy Ritchie should be proud of this project as it would seem he has masterfully achieved what he set out to do.
