While we have seen superhero teams on screen before in X-Men and Fantastic Four, we've not yet seen several heroes crossing over from their own films into one ensemble movie.
This will happen in The Avengers, the 2012 Marvel Studios team-up movie bringing together Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and possibly Hawkeye, Edward Norton's Hulk, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and others.
Staff at Marvel Comics are excited to see how the concept of uniting all those characters will work on the big screen.
In an interview with Newsarama, several of them have given their views on the Avengers film.
Writer Brian Michael Bendis, who for five years has been the 'architect' of the Avengers comic, is part of the creative committee that consults on movies in development at Marvel Studios, including The Avengers.
He told Newsarama:

"Sherlock Holmes" producer Dan Lin is currently hard at work on a very different but no less enigmatic film project — none other than the adaptation of cartoonist Jeff Smith's "Bone."
Details on the comic book film have been fairly scarce, though Smith has previously said that he's happy with the project's progress so far. But Lin, who is producing "Bone," had more detailed comments to offer when speaking with Collider about the film. Specifically, Lin said that he and the "Bone" crew are striving for a tone that mixes the best elements of "Shrek" and "Lord of the Rings" together.
"It really looks like a mix of Shrek as far as the three Bone characters and their comedy, their Looney Tunes of Marx Brothers comedy set in a Lord of the Rings world," said Lin. "I mean, the best way tonally again is Shrek meets Lord of the Rings.

As you've probably heard, adorable actress Brittany Murphy has left us.
Murphy reportedly died suddenly of heart failure on Sunday morning. She was 32.
While known for spunky and flirtatious work in Clueless (and the Mark Dacoscas actioner Drive, a personal fave), she showed a serious side in films like 8 Mile, Girl Interrupted, Sin City and Don't Say A Word.
Murphy was preparing to reprise her role in a sequel to Happy Feet.

Brittany Murphy had talent that, unfortunately, she was never able to show. For me, 8 Mile more than proved that. But her acting potential wasn.t the only thing left unmet; she also had a great talent for voice acting. Not only did she play Luanne from King of the Hill (splendidly, mind you), but she also lent her voice to the animated gem Happy Feet, a role that she.ll now be unable to reprise.
According to Moviehole , Murphy was signed on to reprise her role as Gloria, the baby penguin, in Happy Feet 2, which is set to begin vocal recordings in the coming weeks. Robin Williams and Elijah Wood are also set to return to their roles. Unfortunately, George Miller will likely have to recast the role or scrap the character depending on her import.
It.s always tough to see actors go so young, especially when we.re

Tragic Brittany Murphy was planning to jet to Sydney, Australia in the New Year - to reprise her role in the sequel of animated adventure Happy Feet.
The Clueless star, whose shock death shook Hollywood on Sunday, lent her voice to the original movie as the penguin Gloria in 2006.
And she was scheduled to fly Down Under in early 2010 to record her vocal for the second movie, according to Moviehole.net.
It is unknown if the role will have to be recast or cut from the movie, which is set to hit cinemas in 2011.
The star's autopsy was completed on Monday, although the cause of death has been deferred until the results of a toxicology report are completed.

Over the past few days I’ve been posting “7 Days with Producer Dan Lin”. As I explained in the previous articles, I spoke at length with the Sherlock Holmes producer about not only his latest film, but everything he has in development. Since the conversation ran so long, I’ve decided to break up the interview into many smaller parts. I’ve already posted what he said about the Lego movie and Gangster Squad, as well as his thoughts on the Terminator Salvation ending and what’s up with future movies. For today’s article, I’ve got him talking about the Tom and Jerry movie and the animated Bone movie - which is based on the comic by Jeff Smith.
Regarding Tom and Jerry, Lin says it’s going to be live action/animation hybrid and he compared it what was done on Alvin and the Chipmunks and Scooby-Doo.

Warner Bros. Has a 'Bone' To Pick

Dan Lin, the producer of such films as Sherlock Holmes and Terminator Salvation, recently spoke to /Film about a live-action version of the cartoon show Tom and Jerry, which Warner Bros. is interested in developing. If you’re into the cartoon, you might find it interesting. What caught my eye, however, was Lin’s comments about his upcoming CG adaptation of the fantasy comic book "Bone", also for Warners.
Published between 1991 and 2004 by writer/artist Jeff Smith, "Bone" centered around a family of bald, white cartoon caricatures called the Bone Family. They get run out of their hometown, meet a mysterious girl named Thorn, and have a number of adventures, many of which involved broad comedy and slapstick. Fifty-five issues in total were published.
According to Lin, the project is still moving along. The questions for now are how many films they want to make and how best to divide the source material.

Well, here's your chance to relive the dance club hit. Also very impressive is her "Happy Feet" rendition of "Somebody to Love"
As speculation about her sudden death continues to swirl, it's good to remember that the girl really did have talent.
Thanks to our pal Greg Ellwood over at HitFix for reminding us of Murphy's singing skills -- and for writing a cool first person piece about spending a few hours one day waiting for Brittany.

From the age of five she was determined to be a Hollywood star
It has become something of a rite of passage for any young actress fresh on the Hollywood scene to be pencilled in to play Janis Joplin. Brittany Murphy, who has died unexpectedly aged 32, was one of several performers over the years who were attached to one Joplin biopic or another.
In this case, it was Piece of My Heart, for which Murphy auditioned successfully in 1999, but which was never made. It certainly was not much of a stretch to imagine her evoking the gusto and vulnerability required for that part.
Murphy was no run-of-the-mill star. In her first substantial role, as a greenhorn mentored by the coolest girl in school in the 1995 hit Clueless, she proved herself an inventive exponent of comedy. She demonstrated her versatility in dramatically intense films such as Girl, Interrupted and 8 Mile. She

By now you've heard that actress Brittany Murphy died at 32 over the weekend. Even though I ended up seeing a bunch of Brittany Murphy's post-Clueless films (8 Mile, Uptown Girls, Sin City, Happy Feet), I will always think of the actress as Tai, the awkward skater girl with bad Kool-Aid hair. She was the real clueless one in the movie, and Murphy portrayed her as so lovably, at times pitifully pathetic that my high school basketball teammates and I ended up referencing the character in practice and games: When someone committed a needless foul, missed a pass, or acted generally unaware,

"You're a virgin who can't drive." With that one line in "Clueless," delivered in saucy mean-girl style, Brittany Murphy entered the pop culture history books. Fourteen years later, the 32-year-old actress died after suffering an apparent full cardiac arrest on Sunday morning. But before her tragic passing, Murphy left a string of memorable performances on the big and small screen.
Murphy got her start in Hollywood with a series of guest appearances on TV shows while still in her teens. " 'Murphy Brown' was a really big deal for me. That was my second day in L.A.," she told MTV News in 2006. And it wasn't long before the actress secured the plum role of ugly duckling Tai Fraiser in "Clueless.

Brittany Murphy may have been known primarily as the star of such movies as "Sin City," "Clueless" and "Just Married," but when the 32-year-old actress died suddenly Sunday morning, she also left behind a great appreciation for music. From mysterious appearances on hip-hop albums to covers of Carly Simon songs, from flirting with Janis Joplin to providing the pipes for a penguin, Murphy showed she had a potential for a music career that, unfortunately, was never fulfilled.
If fans want a real glimpse at where Murphy's career could have been headed, the best place to see it is "Faster Kill Pussycat," a 2006 trance-rock track that had her singing over some Paul Oakenfold beats. The accompanying video featured a scantily clad Murphy

Word first came in Sunday afternoon that actress Brittany Murphy was found dead after going into cardiac arrest. TMZ was the first to report that Murphy was delivered, D.O.A. to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California.
Brittany Murphy appeared in several television roles, but she is most remembered for her breakout role as Cher’s nerdy friend Tai in the 1995 film Clueless. The movie also featured Paul Rudd, Alicia Silverstone, and Donald Faison.
Murphy went on to star in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), Girl, Interrupted (1999), Sidewalks of New York (2001), Riding in Cars With Boys (2001), Spun (2002), 8 Mile (2002), Sin City (2005), and Happy Feet (2006), in addition to other movies and shows.

I still can't believe that actress Brittany Murphy is dead. Murphy was only 32 years old, but her film career spanned nearly two decades. After breaking out in 1995's "Clueless" (a personal favorite), Murphy's star started to really rise in the early 2000s with films like "Girl, Interrupted," "8 Mile" and "Just Married."
While looking over Murphy's filmography, I was reminded of some films like "Sin City" and "Riding in Cars with Boys" -- good solid films that showed off different sides of the actresses abilities.
Murphy was also an accomplished voice actress, providing a voice for a penguin in "Happy Feet" and voicing the role of Luanne Platter for all thirteen seasons of "King of the Hill."
I know my favorite Murphy film -- it's "Clueless." I have the film poster on my wall in my home office and can quote the movie almost verbatim. It's just one of those movies I love.

Brittany Murphy, who died tragically this weekend, was looking forward to spending the New Year in Australia. Murphy, who has died at the age of 32 after a reported massive heart attack, was to provide her voice to a sequel of Australian director George Miller's animated movie sensation Happy Feet. She had narrated the part of a baby penguin Gloria in the original Happy Feet, and the sequel intended to bring it to 3-D life. Murphy said she was 'more than excited' about plans to fly to Sydney with actor Elijah Wood. Murphy's death was of natural causes in the preliminary opinion of Los Angeles authorities. It's hard to know what to say at a time like this. Brittany Murphy, age 32, was found dead in her home over the weekend, the victim of a heart attack. It's hard to process, this young star being taken from us by something that isn't supposed to be a danger for women until they've hit the age of 50. The best we can do for now is to honor her memory with a look back at her tragically abbreviated career.
The image below comes from "Clueless," the Amy Heckerling comedy from 1995 that first put Murphy into the public eye for many. It's a movie that in many ways launched her career, leading to memorable roles in the Eminem-starring "8 Mile," "Girl, Interrupted," "Spun," "Sin City" and "Happy Feet," plus a recurring role on the hit animated series from Mike Judge, "King of the Hill."
