Neckface Movie Trailer

3 hours ago | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Rising to prominence in the street art scene throughout the early aughts and now bustling inside the mainstream with shoe deals and bewildered news reports, the California artist known as Neckface is a fascinating subject. For one, much of his art was and remains illegal via the defacing of billboards and buildings with "Neckface" spray-painted in a signature, Satan-evoking scrawl. And, as with the Batman Begins billboard below, which he famously altered to become "Neckface Begins!," his tags tend to punctuate graffiti featuring decrepit, bat-like demons and bloodied, diseased derelicts. A new, all-access documentary on Neckface---who remains largely anonymous---is currently rolling from director Ty Evans, the co-director along with Spike Jonze of the skate vid Yeah Right! We've got the doc's first trailer after the jump, plus Nf's new, gallery-approved take on Predator. His fresh take on Freddy Krueger hovers above. Neckface trailer I emailed Ty Evans to get some »

'Batman 3' Villain Should Be The Riddler: The Votes Are In!

4 hours ago | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

In last week's poll, we asked you which Batman villain you want to see in the next installment of Warner Brothers' record-breaking movie franchise.

We already know which "Batman 3" rumors you wish were true, and we've outlined our casting choices for a new Catwoman, but what about the foe (or foes) The Dark Knight will tangle with in the next film? According to readers, the question is the answer—and The Riddler is the villain everyone wants to see in the third "Batman" movie.

With 37 percent of the total votes, Edward Nigma ran away with the poll—and was followed far, far behind by Catwoman and skull-faced, modern-era villain Black Mask.

Here's how the results panned out for Batman's rogues gallery:

Riddler: 37%

Catwoman: 11%

Black Mask: 10%

The Joker (with someone new playing the role): 8%

Bane: 6%

Two-Face: 5%

Penguin: 5%

Clayface: 3%

Poison Ivy: 2%

Scarecrow: 2%

Mr. Freeze: 2%

Ra's Al Ghul: 1%

David Goyer Talks ‘Ghost Rider 2′

7 November 2009 11:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Marvel has a long list of comic-to-film projects that didn’t pan out so well. Ghost Rider is one of them. That may be the most diplomatic way I’ve ever put that. Ordinarily anything having to do with Ghost Rider has elicited a rage in me that leaves me angry. . . Hulk angry. So why am I so calm this time?

Well, as we’ve already covered here at The Flickcast, Ghost Rider is getting a sequel which could have been as craptastic as the first film. However, the script for the new movie is from one of my favorite writers David Goyer (Batman Begins, FlashForward).  Recently, MTV caught up with Goyer and asked him about the Ghost Rider sequel:

“It’s not exactly a reboot,” said Goyer, “I hate to say it’s more realistic, because he’s got a flaming skull for a head, but it’s a »

Lionsgate Launches Official 'Kick-Ass' Movie Site

6 November 2009 1:47 PM, PST | MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news »

Earlier today we got our first peek at a new set of "Kick-Ass" movie posters featuring the film's costumed vigilantes, and now Lionsgate has launched the official website for the big-screen adaptation of John Romita Jr. and Mark Millar's ultraviolent comic book series.

Debuting today at iamkick-ass.com, the site doesn't offer much at the moment aside from a look at the same four images from the new posters and a countdown to the "Kick-Ass" trailer debut—which will apparently hit MySpace.com on November 15 at 1 Am Est.

However, the site does feature a cool introductory animation that sweeps through the city on its way up to the quartet of costumed characters perched on a ledge.

"Kick-Ass" is scheduled to hit theaters on April 16, featuring Aaron Johnson as superhero-wannabe Dave Lizewski, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as copycat "hero" The Red Mist, Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz as the father-daughter vigilante team »

Update: "Ghost Rider" Sequel! Nicolas Cage to Return, and David Goyer is Taking Us to an Existential Place!

5 November 2009 10:35 AM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

Yesterday, We Said This:

Back in September, we told you that Columbia Pictures is revving up for "Ghost Rider 2."

Today, MTV News has reported that the franchise will not get an overhaul (a reboot if you may), but the tone is going to shift!

David Goyer ("Batman Begins") is toning down a script he wrote for a friendlier PG rating tone. Goyer tells MTV News:

"It's not exactly a reboot," said Goyer, who's currently hard at work on his "FlashForward" television series. "I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"

Now, MTV News is exclusively reporting that Nicolas Cage is attached to return as Johnny Blaze, and »

Goyer: 'Ghost Rider 2' Not Exactly Reboot

4 November 2009 9:05 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

MTV recently caught up with screenwriter David Goyer (Batman Begins), to learn how his new Ghost Rider film will differ from the 2007 version. A film that Goyer's not prepared to call it a reboot.

"It's not exactly a reboot," Goyer said. "I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"

Goyer added that the sequel — which uses his old "Ghost Rider" script — will go in front of the cameras next year. Nicholas Cage is still onboard to reprise the role of Johnny Blaze.

"This story picks up eight years after the first film," added Goyer. "You don't have to have seen the first film. It doesn't contradict anything that happened in the first film, »

David Goyer Says 'Ghost Rider 2' To Be A Sequel, Not A Reboot

4 November 2009 10:30 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

From Splash Page: Not long ago, it was announced that "Batman Begins" and "Super Max" screenwriter David Goyer would be navigating the demonic motorcycle for "Ghost Rider 2," based on a screenplay Goyer wrote several years ago.

Many have wondered whether the screenplay—which is toning down its hard-r nature for a PG-13 rating—would reboot the "Ghost Rider" franchise. MTV News put that very question to Goyer, who said that while the continuity won't necessarily get an overhaul, the tone is certainly shifting.

"It's not exactly a reboot," said Goyer, who's currently hard at work on his "FlashForward" television series. "I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. David Goyer Thinks This Week's 'FlashForward' Is 'The Best Episode So Far'

4 November 2009 8:00 AM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

A massive 12.4 million viewers tuned into "FlashForward" for the series premiere in September, with that number slowly petering off as the weeks have worn on.

But those original viewers might want to cancel their Thursday night plans and check out what "FlashForward" has in store this week, as showrunner David Goyer described the upcoming installment as "the best episode so far."

"I honestly think it's maybe the best thing that I've been involved in, absent or including 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight,'" Goyer told MTV News in an exclusive interview. "I'm that proud of it."

Titled "The Gift," this week's episode focuses on Agents Al Gough (Lee Thompson Young) and Demetri Noh's (John Cho) continued investigation into the mysterious Blue Hand, which Goyer described as an organization "with a very specific purpose in mind." Over the course of their investigation, a shadowy figure by the »

Lifting the Lid on W.C. with Liam O Mochain

2 November 2009 10:38 AM, PST | The Hollywood Interview | See recent The Hollywood Interview news »

(Julia Wakeham and director/actor Liam O Mochain in Wc, above.)

by Alan Kline

When I first visited Irish filmmaker Liam O Mochain ten years ago on the set of his debut feature, The Book That Wrote Itself, one of the first things I noticed was that he had managed to pull together production elements that would have been difficult for a film with ten times the budget. On the first day, he had managed to get the City of Dublin to give him a double-decker bus, complete with driver, to shoot on throughout the city. I, and a few dozen other tourists, had just paid the equivalent of $20 each for a tour on a similar bus, just the day before. Later in the production, he visited the Venice Film Festival with a small crew, attended a press conference, and asked a variety of celebrity luminaries questions, in character as Vincent, »

Katie Holmes Replaces Liv Tyler in 'The Romantics'

2 November 2009 10:33 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Not too long ago, Katie Holmes was the one getting ousted. After romancing Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins, she was set aside so Maggie Gyllenhaal could whip up a much more spot-on Rachel Dawes. Now it's her time to take over a role. It might not be part of a well-established franchise, but Variety reports that Holmes will be replacing Liv Tyler in the romantic comedy The Romantics.

As I wrote when Tyler signed on for the project, this film sees Galt Niederhoffer adapting and directing from her own novel, which focuses on a group of college friends who reunite after 6 years for a wedding. The event brings up a rivalry between the groom, the bride, and her maid of honor. Anna Paquin is playing the bride, Josh Duhamel is the groom, and Holmes is stepping in as maid of honor. Horror Plus Action: Blade

31 October 2009 1:16 PM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Happy Halloween everyone! If you’re a regular Screen Rant reader you’ll have noticed (and hopefully read) our Halloween lead-up series called “Horror Plus.” If not, just so you know it’s a feature which sets out to showcase one film that combines horror with another genre. Each instalment will basically serve as a review of the film at hand, explaining why it’s such a good example of genre merging.

So far we’ve had Horror Plus Comedy: Shaun of the Dead, Horror Plus Sci-fi: Alien, Horror Plus Thriller: 28 Days Later and Horror Plus Crime: Se7en. And finally we come to our final installment which is Horror Plus Action.

So which film have we chosen which merges both the genres of horror and action so well? After much deliberation I decided to go with Stephen Norrington’s excellent 1998 comic-book adaptation, Blade, starring Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire killer. »

Christian Bale uses Tom Cruise as inspiration for killer in ‘American Psycho’

23 October 2009 9:16 AM, PDT | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Tom Cruise is a raging psychopath.

American Psycho director Mary Harron says that Christian Bale, who played the yuppie killer Patrick Bateman in the film, based his performance on Tom Cruise.

In an interview with Black Book magazine, Harron stated that Bale was “trying to work out the right way to behave.”

Nothing says “acting right” like Tom Cruise.

“We talked about how Martian-like Patrick Bateman was, how he was looking at the world like somebody from another planet [and] watching what people did,” Harron says. “And then one day [Christian] called me and he had been watching Tom Cruise on David Letterman, and he just had this very intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes, and he was really taken with this energy.”

In 2005, Cruise fired his publicist, Lee Anne DeVette, who is also his sister, and replaced her with one of H-town’s veteran PR men, Paul Bloch. The Top Gun »

Cillian Murphy "Hopes" For a Batman 3

23 October 2009 8:55 AM, PDT | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

Cillian Murphy recently told MTV that he hopes "they make a third [Batman]." The actor portrayed the villain Scarecrow in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

[The Dark Knight is] one of the greatest blockbuster mainstream movies. If anyone can match that or top that it's [director] Chris [Nolan]. Fingers crossed.

Murphy is currently working with Nolan on his mysterious thriller, Inception. However, that doesn't mean Murphy has heard anything about Nolan's return for Batman 3.

We don't talk about those things. It's out of my control.

Nickelodeon Buys Ninja Turtles for Film, Series

22 October 2009 2:35 PM, PDT | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

The kid-friendly cable channel Nickelodeon picked up the rights to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for about $60 million and is planning to revive the Tmnt with a new movie and TV series.

The Mirage Group, who owns the property, has been shopping the idea around for over a year now with 4Kids Entertainment and announced a live-action movie on the way during its 25th Anniversary “shell-abration” around April (the month, not the news reporter).  It seems Nickelodeon was interested in not only the film rights, but the whole package that includes a new computer-animated series for 2012, according to Variety.

Paramount Pictures, another company under the Viacom umbrella with Nickelodeon, will release the live-action reboot the same year. In previous discussions, executive producer and Turtles co-creator Peter Laird hinted at the use of “face replacement technology” seen on the Where the Wild Things Are creatures.  This is further evidenced by Wild »

Marc Guggenheim Departs 'FlashForward' Leaving David Goyer As Sole Showrunner

22 October 2009 11:00 AM, PDT | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Just last month, producers David Goyer and Brannon Braga were touting their latest television effort "FlashForward" here on Movies Blog. Both viewers and critics alike mostly embraced the ABC series following the premiere — but flash-forward one month later to today, and the Joseph Fiennes/John Cho-starring series seems to have hit a significant snag.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer and co-showrunner Marc Guggenheim is abandoning his "FlashForward" post, leaving David Goyer as the sole showrunner.

Given Goyer's impressive resume — he helped Christopher Nolan make Batman cool again in "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," after all — this shouldn't be particularly troubling news, but the alleged reasons behind Guggenheim's departure are nonetheless provocative.

"Evidence suggests network executives were unhappy with the quality of the show's post-pilot storytelling," Ain't It Cool News reported in their own account of Guggenheim's departure.
