Fashion Boss: 'Resignation Has Nothing To Do With Lohan'

The boss of French fashion label Emanuel Ungaro has resigned from his role - but insists his departure has "nothing to do" with Lindsay Lohan's highly criticised work as the brand's creative consultant.
Mounir Moufarrige, who recruited Lohan to work for the design house, is "withdrawing" as company president - just months after Lohan's widely-panned line hit the catwalk in September.
It was recently reported that the disastrous show prompted chairman Asim Abdullah to urge Moufarrige to end Lohan's contract, but Ungaro bosses confirmed last month Lohan will remain onboard.
And Moufarrige insists the Mean Girls star played no part in his decision to leave the post he has held since 2006, insisting he wants to devote more time to other ventures but will remain on Emanuel Ungaro's strategic committee.
He tells Wwd.com, "It's my decision. It's not a total departure, except for operational duties. (The resignation) has nothing to do with Lindsay Lohan at all. The strategy is set for Ungaro and that's it."
Abdullah, an entrepreneur who bought Ungaro in 2005 from the Italian Salvatore Ferragamo fashion house, declined to comment.

Rachel McAdams has come out in support of Lindsay Lohan. McAdams worked with Lohan on Mean Girls. She told Vogue: 'I just remember marvelling about how much she knew as an actor, how much she understood. She did very few takes and had this naturalness to her. And beyond that, I was 26 at the time.' McAdams says she was raised to value the naturalness she sees in Lohan. She said: 'My mother never put an emphasis on looks. She let us grow up on our own time line. She never forced any beauty regimen into my world.' The approach included not shaving her legs in high school. But this was something McAdams felt

The Hallmark Channel will launch the network in High Definition on Feb. 1, 2010. I know what you're thinking: Golden Girls is going to look awesome! But after examining the channel's upcoming original film debuts, I realize this move was, in fact, necessary. Not so much for Feb. 13's Elevator Girl starring Mean Girls' Lacey Chabert and Final Destination 3's Ryan Merriman ("a stuck elevator brings a free-spirited woman and an uptight lawyer together"), but for March 6's Uncorked, a romantic comedy starring Dexter's Julie Benz and Men in Trees' Scott Elrod (pictured, right), and March 20's Healing

The Lost Generation: A Decade of Teen Movies

The best teen movies reflect modern youth culture and alter it—they transform the vernacular, fashion, and the trajectory of the genre itself. They are original and smart (even mid-dick joke). Some are raunchy comedies, some are stark dramas, some defy classification, but all are unflinchingly honest (even mid-dick joke). Though they very seldom win awards, the best teen movies usually compel repeat viewings and somehow seem to intuit the needs and tastes of generations to come. Here are 15 of the decade’s most memorable explorations of all the intrinsic charms and traumas of teendom.
Most likely to influence future filmmakers: Brick (2005)
Writer-director Rian Johnson overhauled the teen genre, the noir, and blew everyone’s mind by setting this brilliant whodunit in a high school. The dialogue is tight and heavily stylized, borrowing from 1940s hardboiled slang, and the engrossing detective plot is fueled by all of the mean and dirty social politics of high school.

The 31-year-old actress – who starred alongside Lindsay in 2004 movie 'Mean Girls' – said she was surprised by how well the then-17-year-old star took direction on board, but admitted Lindsay loved to go out all the time.
She said: “I just remember marvelling about how much she knew as an actor, how much she understood.
"She did very few takes and had this naturalness to her. And beyond that, I was 26 at the time. I’d be asked, ‘Where do you go out?’ ”
Rachel – who plays the role of Irene Adler alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's new movie 'Sherlock Holmes' – also said she wasn't into the showy side of the celebrity lifestyle and is making an effort to be more eco-conscious.
She added to America’s Vogue magazine: “I don’t really desire things. I prefer to spend my money on experiences,

Lindsay Lohan must attend alcohol education classes every week. The 'Mean Girls' actress, who is on probation for a driving under the influence conviction (DUI), was ordered by Judge Marsha Revel that her classes must now take precedence over everything else.
Speaking at the Superior Court in Beverley Hills on Tuesday, the judge said: "I am going to order that this has to be done. It's been long enough.

Rachel McAdams was left in awe of Lindsay Lohan's acting ability on the set of Mean Girls - because she was so professional.
The stars appeared together in the 2004 teen comedy, and while McAdams has gone on to star in several major movies, including The Notebook, The Time Traveller's Wife and new film Sherlock Holmes, Lohan has since failed to land any high profile film roles.
Lohan has also seen her private life hit headlines in recent years, with a 2007 conviction for driving under the influence (DUI) and several stints in rehab.
But McAdams has spoken out in favour of the fallen actress - insisting Lohan knows exactly what she's doing on set.
She says, "I just remember marvelling about how much she knew as an actor, how much she understood. She did very few takes and had this naturalness to her."

Lindsay Lohan won't have excuses next time. Although the "Mean Girls" actress is "in compliance" with the terms of her DUI probation, a judge ordered her to finish her alcohol education program classes.
Judge Marsha Revel told the 23-year-old actress' legal camp that she must complete the classes, adding that "this has to be done. It's been long enough."
Lohan, who was not present in court on Tuesday, must now start attending every single week to fulfill more than six months of program time by the deadline on July 15.
The judge, according to Usmagazine.com, said that Lohan's other projects should only come second place and her alcohol education program should be prioritized.

Michael Lohan has urged his daughter Lindsay's ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson to convince the actress to go to rehab.
The Mean Girls star's dad has spoken openly about his fears for Lindsay, insisting she is addicted to prescription drugs. And, despite publicly blasting Ronson prior to the couple's summer split, Michael is convinced the DJ can help his daughter get her life back together.
He says, "Maybe Samantha will help Lindsay turn her life around and get her into rehab. At least I know Samantha cares. Time is running out for Lindsay. We need to save her."
Meanwhile, Lohan has atttacked his ex-wife Dina again - claiming she's choosing to ignore their daughter's problems: "She tells me how bad the problem is with our daughter and in the same breath is avoiding the subject.
"She is a sick human being. Dina can continue to lie and avoid the truth, but I am going to continue to show what a liar she is. She can continue to make all the excuses she wants, but she can’t deal with the truth. We need to save Lindsay - and now."
On Tuesday, the 23 year old was set a deadline of July, 2010 to complete her alcohol education course as part of her probation following her conviction for a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

Moving on to 2004. What follows is my original top ten list, based on films released in NYC in 2004. If I have anything new to say that'll be in red after the original text.
Top Ten Runners Up (in descending order): Aviator, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Mean Girls, Maria Full of Grace, The Five Obstructions, Collateral, Goodbye Lenin!, Birth and Closer Yes, I'm absolutely horrified by the rankings now. Nothing about that ranking feels right now. I am most ashamed that Birth was only at number [cough] 19 in its year. In my self-flattering memory I "almost" put it in the top ten despite the then brutal reviews. I was ahead of my time! Oh well... at least I did actually name it the #1 most underappreciated film of the year. At the time I said...
