Spain Pulls Funding Out of London Film Fest

Spain ended its partial funding of the London Film Festival on Wednesday, the day of the festival's opening, presumably because festival programmers had agreed to screen a film sympathetic to the Basque separatist cause, the London Times reported today (Thursday). The Spanish government has reportedly launched a campaign to ban the film, Basque Ball, the Skin Against the Stone. However, the Spanish Embassy said in London Wednesday that it was withdrawing its funding of the London festival because of budget constraints. »
