Biel and Copley Join ‘The A-Team’

17 September 2009 7:30 AM, PDT | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Mention the word “reboot” or “remake” to anyone and you’ll probably face a dissatisfied sigh.  Hollywood’s movie recycling program in the last few years has left everyone with reboot/remake fatigue.  However, once in a while a project comes along that peaks collective interest. The upcoming A-Team remake is one such film.

And now, the new A-Team adds two more names to its roster. Jessica Biel (Blade: Trinity, Stealth) will appear as an ex-love interest to Lt. Templeton “Face” Peck, played by Bradley Cooper, while District 9’s Sharlto Copley will be playing H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdoch. While Biel’s involvement is pretty standard fair (Don’t get me wrong, I like her) it’s Copley’s inclusion that is a great casting choice. While a relative unknown, Copley gained a lot of attention with his performance in District 9 (If you haven’t seen it, what are you waiting for? »

Jessica Biel to Be Bradley Cooper's Ex in 'The A-Team'

15 September 2009 9:56 PM, PDT | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

A female lead role for TV-to-film adaptation "The A-Team" could fall onto the lap of Jessica Biel. According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the Larita Whittaker of "Easy Virtue" is in talks to star opposite the already-signed cast, Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper and Quinton Jackson aka Rampage Jackson.

Should a deal is finalized, the 27-year-old movie beauty will star as the Army general pursuing the mercenary team who also happens to be the former lover of Cooper's Faceman. The role won't be her first in the shoes of a military officer. She had portrayed Navy pilot Lieutenant Kara Wade in 2005's "Stealth".

In addition to Biel's casting news, THR also confirmed circulating rumor that linked Sharlto Copley to the role of H.M. 'Howling Mad' Murdoch, the Army's best chopper pilot who is also suffering from delusions, memory loss, and hallucinations. The publication reported that the star of hit summer »

10 Most Awesome Movie Explosions Of All Time Ever

25 June 2009 4:40 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

There are two films hitting theaters this week that celebrate the beauty of a great explosion. The first is obviously Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which is the first film that your grandfather can hear without his Beltone in years. But the second is a film that Cole and Neil have already dubbed the best film of the year so far - The Hurt Locker - a film that's more about having bombs not go off (even if we're always secretly hoping for a big, beautiful blast). Thankfully, both films deliver. So, in honor of Transformers and The Hurt Locker's willingness to endanger life, limb, and property with fireballs hundreds of feet high, we're counting down 10 of our favorite cinematic explosions. Ready or not, here comes the Boom. 10. Live Free or Die Hard While this PG-13 bumblefart (heh) didn't exactly hit the pin on the primer, the explosion at the gas plant showed that the franchise »

Rob Cohen Goes 'Medieval' on 'xXx' Threequel

10 June 2009 8:00 AM, PDT | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

Empire reports that Rob Cohen, the director of the first xXx movie and the completely asinine Stealth, has bowed out of the third chapter in the xXx series to make Medieval instead.

Before you automatically assume it's because xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is garbage (which was what I thought when I read it), you should know that Cohen studied anthropology from Harvard...which might explain why he's not a great filmmaker, I guess.

Be that as it may, when the opportunity came to make a movie that deals with European history, Cohen jumped at the chance. Just thank whatever you pray to that he beat Stephen Sommers to it. »

Rob Cohen Goes Medieval, Drops xXx Sequel

10 June 2009 1:23 AM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

In March it was announced that McG had signed on to develop and possibly direct Medieval, a spec script by Mike Finch & Alex Litvak sold for $800,000 against $1.6 million.  But McG has too many other projects on his plate, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea: Captain Nemo at Disney, a big screen adaptation of the musical Spring Awakening for Warner Bros and possibly fifth Terminator film. So who is going to take over for McG? Super duper hack director Rob Cohen. You know, the guy who directed The Fast and the Furious, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Stealth and xXx. Speaking of xXx, this move also means that Cohen will not be reteaming with Vin Diesel on the previously announced sequel xXx: The Return of Xander Cage. Diesel is free to explore other options. It was a tough decision about xXx," Cohen told Variety. "I talked to Vin over the ... »

Rob Cohen Bails on 'xXx' Sequel and Goes 'Medievel'

9 June 2009 9:38 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Rob Cohen is a definite hit-or-miss director and depending on your taste in films I would say he most often falls on the "miss" side of things with such recent releases as The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Stealth. However, I don't mind watching his original Fast and the Furious installment or even xXx, and it seems his original plans to reteam with Vin Diesel for xXx: The Return of Xander Cage have fallen by the wayside as he has found something he likes better. Variety reports Cohen is set to direct Medieval for New Regency and as a result his new schedule conflicts with the shooting of the xXx film and has caused him to have to drop off the production. "It was a tough decision about xXx," Cohen told Variety. "I talked to Vin over the weekend and said I hoped they would wait, but that »

Total Recall remake

2 June 2009 3:32 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

We were warned, and they meant it. A new version of Paul Verhoeven's wondrously violent sci-fi mindjob Total Recall is on the way. It's nearly a whole two decades old, and therefore requires a hot new cast and loads more CGI! Writer Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, upcoming Salt) will be helping you remember it wholesale with what is only being described as a "contemporized adaptation" of the original Philip K. Dick story. Columbia and producer/noisemaker Neal Moritz (Stealth, XXX) are... »

"Easy Virtue" review. Jessica Biel takes her shot at respectability.

22 May 2009 | Movie Jungle | See recent Movie Jungle news »

Easy Virtue Reviewby Mike Digiorgio, Writer     3 ½ out of 5.               Jessica Biel takes her shot at respectability – not by actually going on stage and doing a play, but by doing a movie based on a classic play.  And she pulls it off.             It’s probably a back-handed compliment, but that’s the biggest surprise in Easy Virtue.  Biel’s never been a bad actress, but her work would probably not be described as highfalutin’.  She’s not who you’d expect in a comedy set in 1920s England, based on a play by Noel Coward and starring actors of the caliber of Kristin Scott Thomas and Colin Firth  (yes, Jamie Foxx won an Oscar, but he didn’t do it for his work opposite Biel in Stealth).             Biel plays Larita, an urbane American race car driver who marries a young man from a stuffy, upper class British family.  They’re probably about »

Tell Tale clip

23 April 2009 3:35 PM, PDT | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

I thought actor Josh Lucas might have the potential to be a "Next Big Thing", but while he's been in some high-profile movies... those movies have unfortunately been Stealth and Poseidon. Oops. He's taken it down in scale for the Poe-inspired horror flick Tell Tale, making its debut at the Tribeca film festival. The synopsis: Terry (Josh Lucas) is a struggling, single father whose life is finally looking up after becoming the recent recipient of a successful heart transplant. With... »

Monday Night Poll: Has Jamie Foxx Jumped the Shark?

20 April 2009 8:02 PM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Not too long ago, it seemed as though his career knew no heights. Jamie Foxx established his comedy credentials in the early 90s with his work on the groundbreaking, star-making TV show In Living Color, showcased his dramatic acting ability with Oliver Stone's Any Given Sunday in 1999, and really knocked it out of the park in 2004 with the 1-2 punch of Taylor Hackford's Ray, for which he won an Academy Award, and Michael Mann's Collateral, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.

Ray made people sit up and take notice of Foxx's musical capabilities. Since then he's been busy with his music career, selling millions of CDs, and has also been hosting a comedy show on satellite radio. As far as his movie career, though, it's been more problematic. Only a handful have been released in the last five years -- Stealth, Jarhead, Miami Vice, »

Video: Jessica Biel Hones Her Stripper Skills

2 April 2009 12:00 PM, PDT | Celebuzz.com | See recent Celebuzz news »

You really have to admire Jessica Biel's dedication to her craft. Especially when it involves the Stealth beauty working the stripper pole and twisting her form into delectable contortions. Biel plays single mom/stripper Rose-Johnny in the upcoming drama Powder Blue, and for the role she worked tirelessly to learn the skills that pay the bills for the world's exotic dancers. "I've gained such a great respect for the women who actually do this for a living, because it's so hard," Biel tells Access Hollywood. And Biel, in turn, gained great respect from Powder Blue writer/director Timothy Linh Bui. "She's very athletic," Bui enthuses. "I. »

Next Up On The Remake Train: 'Total Recall'

25 February 2009 8:55 PM, PST | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Because it is so completely necessary, Hollywood Reporter... er, reports that Neil Moritz (producer of such classics as Stealth and Prom Night) is looking to put together a remake of Paul Verhoeven's Total Recall, which starred our governor, Michael Ironside, and a lady with three boobs. If this actually goes forward, I Think this will be the first remake (not counting foreign to American translations like Let The Right One In) of a movie I saw during its initial run in theaters. Am I old or is the "It's time for a remake!" window just growing smaller? Read on for a few more details, and look for a remake of Paul Blart: Mall Cop to get announced any minute. »

Writing the Afterburn

29 January 2009 2:41 PM, PST | JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news »

The post-apocalyptic comic Afterburn is being adapted to feature film by producer/webslinger Tobey Maguire and noise machine Neal Moritz (of Stealth, XXX and Fast And Furious infamy), and now the project has a writer. Matt Johnson is working on the script, and this makes me happy for a couple of reasons: he wrote Into The Blue and Torque. While Blue is a guilty pleasure (if only for bikini Alba and the underwater flaying of Josh Brolin), I firmly believe Torque is an inspired work of... »
