"Come to My Window:" a Cross-Cultural Lesbian Experience

Manan Katohora, writer and director of last year's When Kiran Met Karen, really has a thing for lesbians. Or at least for featuring them in lead roles in his films. Katohora's latest screenplay, Come to My Window (which features the Melissa Etheridge song by the same name) is currently being filmed in Washington, D.C., and again, revolves around lesbian characters.
But this time, it's different, Katohora says, as Come to My Window is more of a "true coming out story" about two neighbors, an Indian named Priya (Simi Van Scoy) and an American named Nicole (Alison Hight) falling in love.

Come to my Window is Katohora's third film involving lesbians (the second is this year's Extrospection, a twist of a coming out story in which a mother comes out to her daughter), and he says this pattern reflects his experiences.

Usually, marketing for independent films isn't this funny. Well to be fair, there aren't many really funny under-the-radar indies that pop up outside of a major film festival like Sundance or Toronto, making White on Rice a potential exception to the rule. So its fitting that the marketing, which for us begins with the exclusive clip we're debuting below, is simple, odd and quite funny.

Do angry lesbians do better at the box office?

In a new blog post for Variety, writer Anne Thompson asserts that "angry women make potent box office."
The success of a film at the box office is usually based on a combination of factors that only partially has to do with the actual content of the movie. These include the star power of the names attached, what kind of reviews and awards the film gets, and — most importantly — how much money and effort the studio/distributor puts into promoting the movie.
Drew Barrymore's Whip It is getting made, according to Thompson, "because of its potential appeal to several niches. It's an action movie with babes attached (think Charlie's Angels, Blue Crush). Some men might even show up."

Where: MyHouse, Hollywood. Who: Parks and Recreation stars Amy Poehler (with husband Will Arnett), Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Anna Faris, Chris Pratt (with fiancée Anna Faris) and Paul Schneider. Also their Thursday-night brethren, Office cast members Kate Flannery, Melora Hardin, Mindy Kaling, Leslie David Baker, Rainn Wilson, B. J. Answer: We've received a lot of questions on these two topics over the last few months, and we finally have an answer! To one of them, at least.
The first season of 3Way will be released on DVD on Dinah Shore weekend (i.e. the first weekend in April), according to the 3Way producers. They plan to post more details on 3WayTV.tv soon,
