Natalie Portman personally thinks that her co-star in upcoming movie "Brothers", Jake Gyllenhaal, is perfect yet unattractive. The 28-year-old star jested in a recent interview that the boyfriend of actress Reese Witherspoon is flawless, before jokingly adding, "Too bad he's ugly".
"Jake is the kind of guy who can do a spot-on impression of someone you work with that will make you giggle," Natalie pointed on Jake's positive sides. "He knows home remedies for distressed hair. He can build a cabinet from scratch. He plays guitar and has a great voice. Kids and dogs love him. He loves his mom and sister and girlfriend."
While Natalie spoke about what she thinks of Jake, her co-star Jake talked about one of the reasons he agreed playing in the movie, revealing that he wants to prove that he and co-star Tobey Maguire are not identical looking. He recalled, "People have very often »

Colin Firth, Julianne Moore in A Single Man, directed by Tom Ford What’s a "gay movie"? Brokeback Mountain? Midnight Cowboy? What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? Milk? Top Gun? Lukas Licks Lodz? Something directed by a gay man, say, The Philadelphia Story or Midnight or a couple of the biggest action blockbusters made in the last decade or so? Something written for the screen by a gay man, say, A Streetcar Named Desire or The Innocents? Something based on a book or play or short story or poem written by a gay man, say, Brief Encounter or In Cold Blood? Something starring a gay man, say, the 1925 Ben-Hur or Giant? Jake Gyllenhaal isn't bugged out Nicole Richie-style about the snappers. The "Brokeback Mountain" star says he doesn't mind the paparazzi too much when out with girlfriend Reese Witherspoon. "Well, that's just a little part of this job," the actor, 28, told "Extra" at a junket for his new film, "Brothers" coming December 4. "It's a part of the job, and there are days that are easier than other days," continued Gyllenhaal. "In terms of a funny guy jumping out of the corner somewhere and catching a photo of you, it just goes along with it." "I can't say anything bad about it," he added. Anne Hathaway's representative addressed the rumor which linked the "Rachel Getting Married" star to the fourth installment of "Spider-Man" series. The publicist told EW, "There are no negotiations underway" but said nothing on whether the 27-year-old actress has met the movie's producer or not.
Anne is the latest star who has been rumored to star in "Spider-Man 4." Previously, Rachel McAdams, Romola Garai and Julia Stiles have also been connected to the upcoming movie. While Rachel has debunked the issue, there has been no confirmation from both Romola and Julia.
"Spider-Man 4" itself is scheduled to hit theater across United States on May 6, 2011. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Dylan Baker are confirmed to reprise their roles as Peter Parker, Mary Jane Watson and Doctor Curt Connors respectively. Sam Raimi, meanwhile, will once again be sitting behind the lens as its director.

She said: "After we were done, I was like, 'Wow, America is so poor.' Just the towns you come across - all that's there are restaurants and gas stations. Yet another actress is reported to be under consideration for a possible role in the next Spider-Man film.
This time it's Anne Hathaway joining the queue of female contenders.
Her previous credits include Brokeback Mountain, The Devil Wears Prada and Becoming Jane.
According to a report by Movie Scoop, and subsequently Deadline Hollywood, producers of Spider-Man 4 have approached the 27-year-old actress to star in the film.
No role was specified but fan speculation suggests it's Felicia Hardy aka the villainous love interest Black Cat.
Movie Scoop says, however, that the star is in line to play a character called Valeria while Deadline Hollywood confirms Hathaway won't replace Kirsten Dunst who is already cast to reprise the role of Mary-Jane Watson.
Hathaway is the fourth actress to be linked to the film following earlier rumours centring on Rachel McAdams, Romola Garai and Julia Stiles.

Roland Emmerich's disaster blockbuster heralds a period of sunny box-office receipts, with the vampires and werewolves of Twilight set to keep the winter chill at bay next week
The winner
Question: when is a summer blockbuster not a summer blockbuster? Answer: when it's released in November, of course. Roland Emmerich's patented formula of awesome planetary destruction and human heroics always screams out for a summer release, but this year Sony chose not to throw his 2012 into a competitive market already crowded with Transformers, Terminators and Wolverine. And the strategy has paid off, with an opening gross of £6.49m, proof that audiences will line up to see a big, dumb action flick no matter what month it is.
It's not the biggest opening of the year – it is behind both Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. But if you strip out the »

It's a bland, faintly pointless slice of sentimentality, suggesting comedy isn't Ang Lee's strong suit, says Peter Bradshaw
To establish career flexibility, or maybe just to serve up a little sorbet after red-meat pictures like Lust, Caution and Brokeback Mountain, director Ang Lee has tried his hand at some undemanding period fun. It's a bland, faintly pointless slice of sentimentality, suggesting comedy isn't Lee's strong suit: the wacky true story of how the legendary 1969 Woodstock festival came to be born.
Earnest Jewish kid Elliot Tiber – played by comedian Demetri Martin – is bullied by his ferocious mom (Imelda Staunton) and gentle dad (Henry Goodman) into helping out at their chaotic holiday-hotel in the Catskill mountains in upstate New York. Noticing how a massive pop festival has just been refused permission to go ahead nearby, Elliot sees how his own licence to hold a local "arts event" could be his moment of destiny. »

Ang Lee has admitted that he made his latest movie, '60s comedy-drama Taking Woodstock, in an effort to get away from "tragic subject matter". The acclaimed director, known for his dark dramas Brokeback Mountain and The Ice Storm, told Digital Spy that he doesn't want to be seen as a "sick filmmaker". "It was a deliberate effort and a gut reaction," Lee said. "If I keep going in that world I get sick. I don't want to be a sick filmmaker. (more) »

The rule that no two Ang Lee movies are ever the same is confidently kept intact with the release of his latest, Taking Woodstock, a comedy about the true story behind the Woodstock music festival in 1969. It follows romantic wartime drama Lust, Caution and the Oscar-winning Brokeback Mountain on the director's CV and arrives in UK cinemas this week. As Rt sits down with Lee to ask his five favourite films, he's keen to point out that if we'd asked him another day we'd have received an entirely different list. "It's a hard one to answer," he tells us.... »

The end of the decade is almost upon us, which means that over the next month or so you can expect to see all kinds of lists counting down the "Best Of" the previous 10 years in just about everything. One of the first publications out of the gate with their Best Movies of the Decade list is London's Telegraph [1], who count down their top 100 movies from 2000 to 2009. There are some interesting choices and some predictable ones, along with a few movies I've never even heard of. One thing that has a few people raising an eyebrow, however, is the fact that they've included James Cameron's Avatar on their list, based solely on the 15-minute IMAX preview! Isn't that a little presumptuous? To be fair, they did tack it on at the end of the list at #100, but it still feels like they're going mainly based on hype rather than anything concrete. »

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal made a name for himself playing quiet, introspective characters in movies like Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. But when the opportunity arose to star as Prince Dastan in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Disney's live-action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game, Gyllenhaal told Coming Soon that he was attracted to the role because it was "unlike anything" he had appeared in before.
To play Prince Dastan, Gyllenhaal had to adopt an English accent, weight train extensively, and learn Parkour, the urban "free running" sport prominently featured in Casino Royale.
The development of the character was massively physical at first, just getting in shape and doing all that stuff and learning Parkour, learning how to swordfight, learning how to get into the mentality of a warrior, somebody who as written is someone who can really fight. That »

Oscar-nominated "Brokeback Mountain" star Jake Gyllenhaal is almost set to star in Duncan Jones' new sci-fi thriller "Source Code," which Summit Entertainment will bring to theaters.
Variety says the film will focus on a soldier who wakes up in the body of a commuter and relives a train bombing until he figures out who's behind the attack. Sounds a bit like "Deja Vu" to me. »

• Greg Ellwood analyzes the boffo box office of "Precious" and observes that the Oscar contender, "made box office history this weekend by posting the highest per screen average for a film in more than 10 theaters. The acclaimed drama made $1.8 million in only 18 theaters for an eye-popping $100,000-per-screen average." As Greg notes, "Historically, the only live action films to ever have a bigger per screen were 'Dreamgirls' and 'Brokeback Mountain,' but both those films debuted on only three and five screens with averages of $126,000 and $105,000 respectively." Writing about the upcoming wide release of the picture on Nov. 20 against "New Moon" -- the "Twilight" sequel -- Greg says, "In many... »

I was considering a title pun on Richard Kelly getting Box-ed out -- which works on multiple levels!! -- but I couldn't pull the trigger. That, though, is my main concern this weekend, to be honest: I am heartbroken (though not surprised) that Kelly's wonderful, hugely ambitious sci-fi flick couldn't get a foothold at the box office. People at my Thursday night screening thought they had seen one of the worst movies ever, which I guess is what happens when you're led to expect harmless PG-13 horror and get something so radically different. I also suspect that Donnie Darko would have been similarly received had it opened on 2,600 screens instead of building its cult cred in mini-release and on DVD.
Anyway, The Boxearned $7.9 million -- not a total disaster for a $25 million movie, but not exactly a resume-builder for Kelly to the extent he has commercial ambitions. It was roundly »
