While Ricky Gervais is busy working on his routine for hosting the Golden Globes, the folks orchestrating the Academy Awards are feverishly hunting for a host of their own.
Hugh Jackman, last year's master of ceremonies, has already turned down the gig, and now it appears that the dynamic duo of Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. have declined the opportunity to host in tandem as well. The obvious questions is, what is it about the Academy Awards that's putting these prospective hosts off? Does Oscar have something in his teeth?
Maybe it's a simple matter of not asking the right people, since Hollywood has no shortage of talented professionals that could do the award ceremony justice. If I were in charge of selecting a host, here are some of the folks that I'd consider.

Morgan Freeman has signed on to star in the Warner Bros. comedy Dirty Old Men (working title).
In the film, Freeman will be playing the best friend and wingman of an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life. After spending 40 years by his friend’s side, Freeman’s character isn’t too willing to give up his position, and does everything he can to try to break up the new couple.
The film was written by comic writers Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge, and the comedic style of Dirty Old Men is said to be along the lines of that in Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

The good folks over at Warner Brothers have picked up a new spec comedy script by writers Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge, titled Dirty Old Men. The script centers around two old "players", one of which has finally met the love of his life, and the other, his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years, who is determined to break the relationship up at any cost. So, just another comedy script, eh? No sir! The flick so far has the ever busy and always entertaining Morgan Freeman attached to play the role of the wingman, and currently Warners are shooting for a reunion between Freeman and Jack Nicholson, his co-star of the 2007 comedy The Bucket List (which had the two playing a couple of old geezers trying to fulfill a list of their dreams before they kicked the bucket). While Morgan Freeman has dabbled in comedy in his long and illustrious career, I don't think he's ever really gotten a chance to really cut loose. He certainly hasn't gotten to play in the raunchy end of the pool, but it sounds as though he's taking the leap in Dirty Old Men. The Hollywood Reporter says that he's attached to star as an aging playboy in the tentatively titled project, and we'll either be laughing or horribly traumatized by his efforts.
Men was penned by Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge, and is said to be similar in tone to The Wedding Crashers and The 40 Year Old Virgin. Morgan Freeman is going to get a little dirty.
Warner Bros. has just picked up a spec script for an untitled comedy by Josh Cagan (Bandslam) and Greg Coolidge (Employee of the Month).
The story centers around “around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life and his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years (Freeman) who does everything to break up the new couple.” The comedy, going under the working title of Dirty Old Men, captures the tone of Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Revelations Entertainment would love to reunite Freeman with his The Bucket List co-star Jack Nicholson for this project.
50 First Dates and Anger Management director Peter Segal is currently in talks to direct.

We just updated the path of the live-action The Jetsons, which will move forward without its long-time developer, Robert Rodriguez. The theory being pushed is that Peter Segal (Get Smart) would be brought in to direct. If that does happen, it'll have to wait.

Apparently, his directorial slate -- which still includes the long-gestating superhero flick Shazam! -- could be getting very busy in the near future. Following the success of "The Bucket List" in 2007, Academy Award recipient Morgan Freeman is ready to plunge himself into another comedy movie for Warner Bros. Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 72-year-old is attached to star in an untitled comedy spec by Josh Cagan and Greg Coolidge which working title is "Dirty Old Men".
Set to serve as the project's executive producer, Freeman will take on the role of the best man and wingman of an aging playboy and does everything he can to break up the playboy from the love of his life. THR further pointed out the likelihood of him re-teaming with "Bucket" co-star Jack Nicholson, though noting that the latter is yet to be attached.
