  • Crew or equipment visible: When Paige is running towards the stairs in the building, as she nears them you can see someone running left-front of her.

  • Continuity: In the opening diner scene, Carly's cup jumps from her hand to the far side of the table in between shots.

  • Errors in geography: There are no mountains in Louisiana.

  • Errors in geography: The film is set in America, but as the group is driving down the highway you can see Australian eucalyptus gums by the side of the road.

  • Factual errors: Two main characters run through the melting wax house, and emerge covered in molten wax, which should result in severe burns.

  • Plot holes: Wade would have suffocated almost immediately after being encased in wax. He would not be alive some time later.

  • Continuity: When Wade and Carly first go into the church, you see the face of the ministerial wax figure. When Carly goes into the church later while running from Bo, the face changes.

  • Continuity: When Nick gives Carly his shirt, she puts it on inside-out. In other scenes, she is wearing it normally.

  • Continuity: When Carly and Wade are looking around in the House of Wax for the first time, Carly dusts off a section of a mirror. Between shots the mirror goes from having only that small section wiped off to having the whole surface wiped free of dust.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Carly is on the phone trying to reach Paige and her boyfriend, Bo hits the window once without it breaking, then hits it again so it breaks. Later, when Blake is checking the voicemail, you hear the window break the first time it's hit.

  • Continuity: When the weird man that offers Carly a ride goes around the truck to open the door, Carly and Wade are looking to the left and down, trying to open the seat belt. In the very next shot, they are looking at the door on their right.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Paige's foot is sliced through the floor, she falls. The killer tries to stab her while she's on the ground and she screams, but her lips don't move.

  • Continuity: Carly turns around to look out the window when the housemaid wax figure in the kitchen startles her. The figure's back is to the window when Carly accidentally tips it over and smashes it. About a minute, earlier when Carly first stepped into the kitchen, the figure was facing the wall to the left of the window.

  • Continuity: When Carly runs into the church after escaping from Bo, she leaves the door open and you can clearly see outside. But when Bo comes to the church to find her, he has to open the door to get in.

  • Continuity: When Carly's on the phone leaving a message on Blake's cell in Bo's truck, she pauses for a moment as Bo comes out and asks, "Where's Wade?". When Blake listens to the message later, there's hardly a pause between her message and then her talking to Bo. There was a much longer pause the first time.

  • Continuity: When Dalton tries to touch Wade's face (as he is made of wax), his skin peels off and his eyes go completely up. Later, when Nick and Carly are fighting with Vincent, Wade's eyes are down.

  • Continuity: When Nick gives Carly his shirt, it's massive on her and you can see the side of her bra, later on when you see her, the shirt fits fine.

  • Crew or equipment visible: After the group takes the detour, and they are driving on the back road, there is a shot of the red car from behind. If you look at the very bottom of the screen, you can see the equipment that the car is hooked up to.

  • Continuity: When Bo is talking to Carly through the truck window he is carrying a container of things, and at one point he throws all of the things on the ground. You can clearly see all of the items strewn across the ground. In the next wide shot, though, all of the items are missing and are never shown again.

  • Continuity: Carly's height changes throughout the film. This is explained in the extras; because Jared Padalecki is so tall, Elisha Cuthbert wore wooden shoes in the scenes where her feet weren't shown. In some scenes, she is up to Wade's shoulder. In others, she is up to his chest.

  • Errors in geography: When the GPS is shown, the destination is Memorial Stadium. That is not LSU's Tiger Stadium, where the group is supposedly heading, but a public stadium, owned by the recreation and parks commission, about 5 miles northeast.

  • Continuity: When Carly first sees the reflection of the man in the mirror, she is standing directly in front of it. When she is explaining what she saw to her boyfriend, she is alternately standing further away from, then closer to the mirror.

  • Errors in geography: During the scene at the campsite close to the beginning, in the morning shortly before Carly goes to the turlet, the birdsong that can be heard is clearly the song of a European robin that would not be found in America.

  • Continuity: When Wade is coated in wax, his eyes are covered too. But when Dalton finds him his eyes aren't at all affected by the wax and are moving around, and he even retains the ability to cry.

  • Factual errors: In the cinema there is no one changing the film reels. The film magically runs itself and switches itself.

  • Continuity: When Bo picks up the glue to silence Carly, her hair is on her face in front of her eyes and she is looking up. In the next shot, her hair is off her face and she is looking forward.
