Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

There are no sex scenes and no nudity in this picture.

The closest thing to sex is a man pretending to have sex on the floor to mock another man.

Violence & Gore

A woman slaps her grandbaby in the face.

There are a number of boxing matches, many of which draw more or less blood. Among these fights, there is an eye injury, a broken nose, and a broken neck. Each of these is tended to in close-up detail. In a sparring match, a boxer loses a tooth.

During a fateful boxing match, a character is hit in the face, falls, and hits the side of her head on a chair that is resting on the end of the boxing ring. The viewer can hear a cracking sound.

Bedsores and gangrene are displayed simply as a natural result of being bedridden.

There are two suicide attempts, with shockingly bloody results.

There is an assisted suicide by injection.

Profanity

5 uses of the word "fuck" including two uses "motherfucker" (the last "fuck" and "motherfucker" are inaudible but can be read in the subtitles), 3 uses of "shit", 4 slang terms for breasts (variations of "tits"), 1 slang term for penis ("dick"), 3 uses of "nigger," and several other uses of milder profanities and vulgarities.

Some miscellaneous people drink beer at a boxing match.

Some of the boxing scenes involving injuries are quite intense. Fixing the broken nose is especially gruesome.

The sequence involving the suicide attempts and eventual success is very emotionally affecting. There is also a brief shot of a gangrenous wound that may disturb some people.

One of the main characters has a very strained relationship with his daughter, and another main character is also treated poorly by her family.
