Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

When humans are vaporized there clothes fly into the air but no nudity is shown.

Violence & Gore

Many Sci-Fi sequences of terror, and of people being abducted and/or zapped with huge lasers. Also, a man's blood is sucked out of his body by a huge needle, but it happens hidden by a truck.

Tom Cruise's character kills a man who has gone insane. It's not shown, because he closes the door. But you can hear it behind the door.

Tom Cruise's character is driving the only working car because it is not powered on gas and has Dakota Fanning's character in the car. They come across a very large group of people and they go insane. One man jumps on top of the car and literally rips the glass apart despite his hands are being cut and gashed from the glass. Very graphic and intense.

People are turned to ash from alien laser beams.

Scenes of debris and wreckage. (if you have ever been to Universal Studios then you might have seen the giant airplane crash scene. That is what it is.)

A gun is held to a man's head.

Profanity

Generally mild, with a few words like Hell, G*d d*mn, etc.

Several uses of the word Shit.

Maybe the occasional cigarette, but nothing big.

MANY intense, frightening, disturbing scenes throughout, including the kinds of scenes where its all quiet and then suddently... BAM! a guy gets killed with a giant martian laser beam. Not for little kids!

You see a bunch of dead people floating down a river, it's really creepy.

The aliens are pretty scary.

The whole movie in general is pretty intense.

There are many people panicking and children crying which adds more to the already intense setting.

In one specific scene the alien comes into the cellar Cruise and Fanning are hiding out in. The alien comes very close to killing both and is very intense and suspenseful.
