Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this new feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes .

Sex & Nudity

A young woman appears to have had too much alcohol, a man approaches her and it is implied that he rapes her while many other people stand around watching (nothing explicit is shown at all).

Women wear low-cut dresses that reveal deep cleavage in many scenes.

A mentally ill women on the street flirts with a young man, she sings and uses insinuating metaphors to suggest something.

Violence & Gore

Sweeney Todd slits the throats of his clients while his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, bakes their bodies into meat pies that are sold to her customers. Only about seven murders are shown; six of them where they are clearly seen slashed in the throat, fairly large amounts of blood pour and spurt from the wounds but it is done very fast, one of the five stabbed in the neck three times (While twisting the blade), and then had his throat slit. For five of the murders, the bodies are sent down chutes, and land on their heads, most of them landing with a distinct crack of the skull/neck. One of the bodies hits the floor and its skull cracks open; you can briefly see what appears to be blood and brains spurting out (an althogether brief shot). One of the murders is the act of throwing a woman into a furnace. No blood in this act, but the there is a clear visual of the flames consuming her, and you can vaguely see her body turning black. Another occurence of violence includes the beating of a man unconcious with a tea kettle he is then shoved into a chest then a man slits his throat slowly and he chokes on his blood. Some blood is shown. All of the blood in this film is meant to be artistic; in other words, it is over-the-top and pretty fake-looking (of course, that doesn't stop it from being graphic--keep in mind: this movie was rated R for a reason).

Profanity

4 scatological terms, 4 mild obscenities. A man sings '"There's a hole in the world like a great black pit, that is filled with people who are filled with sh*t" a couple of times.

We see several men sitting in stupor, and there's smoke in the air, in what could be an opium den. A boy drinks alcohol in several scenes and in one scene he drinks enough to pass out on the floor, a man drinks alcohol, people drink ale in a restaurant in a few scenes, and people dance and drink alcohol at a party.

The themes of the film are vengeance and murder. The throat slittings are disturbing. Todd also stabs a man in the neck very brutally, and two men are beaten badly, one to the point of unconsciousness. A woman is thrown into a furnace and we see her burn (This isn't very graphic but is still very disturbing). A young boy is trapped in a dungeon filled with bloody bodies for a period of time. A young boy slits the neck of a man. You see girls locked in a asylum, their hair is cut for wigs and they are all scared.
