Jeliza-Rose and Dickens become close, and they kiss one another several times during the film. They call each other "silly kissers". The kisses are never anything more than a peck on the lips. .
Jeliza-Rose's mother graphically dies of an overdose.Jeliza-Rose's father dies of a heroin overdose. However, she thinks that he is asleep and/or still high, so she puts wigs and makeup on him and talks to him. As he begins to rot, his tongue hangs out of his mouth, and flies buzz around his body. His stomach begins to swell up, and at one point, Jeliza-Rose presses down on his stomach. He passes gas. Later on, his body is gutted and stuffed by Dell, who is an amateur taxidermist. Jeliza-Rose witnesses the whole ordeal, which includes Dell plunging a knife into her father's stomach. Once his body is stuffed, he looks pretty frightening.
Several F-bombs and a few mild profanities are sprinkled throughout the film. Curse words are written on the walls.
Graphic heroin use. A young child is present and helps with the heroin procedure. Subsequent outcome of heroin overdoses are central to the story.
Strange situations involving death might be frightening for certain people, especially children.
